Which is only fitting as George and the gang were characters on AITF before getting their own spin off. I have some fond memories of staying up late watching nick at nite laughing my butt off . Like Dolomite said, it's funny I never realized how old the show was because of the way they would tackle the same issues modern shows of the time were still trying to adress.

That's something I'm not sure of either. I seem to recall (once again not sure where/when) hearing or reading about a squib load getting stuck in the barrel and the shooter shooting two or three rounds after with all three to four rounds jamming up the barrel something awful but no explosion. I think it was a heavy duty long barreled revolver, not sure what would happen with an alloy or pot metal barrel. If I had to guess, I'd say it just depends but that would be just a guess.
-
Sort of on topic, has anyone actually experienced a squib round using modern factory ammo? I bet I haven't put as many rounds down range as some of you but I never have. I don't even worry about them anymore, should I?

For rimfires I throw them in the mkIII. gets them nine out of ten times. Centerfire just goes back into whatever spit it out the first time, if that doesn't work hand them off to range officials or try them again later. I try to wait the recommended 30 seconds when I'm just casually plinking, clear and continue if running myself through an exercise. Not sure any old oil will really degrade a primer. I seem to remember something, an article or video that debunked that to a certain extent.

I thought it looked pretty funny myself. Haven't checked it out yet but I'll be sure to see what's what and let you know if it's all that bad.

Sadly there will be no gun rescue, unless we can get Sarah McGlopflin to sing for a commercial. Then we might have a chance.

To tell the truth I may have thought it was a publicity gimmick done in bad taste or some kind of flash mob prank at first. It wouldn't have been until SHTF that I may have done anything at all except maybe some mental preparation. Anyway, kind if hard to be prepared for something like this, the guy did most everything right to reach the ends he desired. Between the body armor, smoke/OC, venue selection it would be hard to be ready. Maybe if your a battle hardened, battle ready Marine you might be ready to deal with something like this but that's not the average movie goer. That's not even the average movie goer packing heat. In reaponce to those saying he would have most likely fled at the first sighn of opposition, I don't know. Seems he was not a dummy though he was defective, he probably knew what he was buying when he selected his armor. If your fine with dying in a pile of hot brass fine, I agree I'll take that over being shot in the back killed while running away but in all likely hood you'd just be making yourself a priority target. In a way that maybe fine, maybe while the gunmans engaging you a mother can safely see her daughter out of the line of fire, or someone else can tackle him to the ground. It all depends on how you feel about your own mortality at that time and also that of those around you. Probably not a whole lot of fathers willing to draw fire with their kids around them.

Yeah looks like we were a day late dollar short so to speak. Oh well, guess I'll have to buy a bushel of Mosins to make up for it. Too bad, I was looking forward to checking these out.

WZ78s in stock now at southern Ohio guns. I know I got myself one and pretty sure someone else on the boards did as well. Hopefully it's as sweet as it's made out to be. You'll need either a C&R or other FFL to view firearms on their sight but if you haven't got one your LGS should be able to square you away.

I'm actually kind of amazed. Two pages and not one derailment. A new record?

That's exactly what the primary elections are for. My "issue" is I've been hearing all about the reasons RP can't win going back to at least December of last year. Number one with a bullet has been that since he won't win why waste a vote primary or presidential. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to vote, far from it and I sure as hell aren't any kind of 'bot but it does make me scratch my head at the displeasure people have over "their only two choices" when there is another option on the table viable or not. Also have to laugh a bit at folks convinced that Obama will declare himself supreme dictator and do away with the electoral process altogether if he wins the next one. Reminds me of what alot of people said about Dubbya back in 04. It seems as though by todays logic we would have been better off swearing loyalty to Luis XVI back in 1776 since he might have been better than old GeorgeIII.

I have come to the conclusion that guns in the South are way overpriced.

Not really sure how gun retail works. I do know in other areas of retail your distributer or lack there of can make or break your profit margins. I managed a store that was devoted to it's main distributer up until we realized just how much more we were paying for the convenience of "one stop" ordering. Was we started ordering direct from manufactures the profits went from 30-40% at MSRP to 30-40% at a substantial saving for our customers to the tune of 20-30% off MSRP. It could also flat out be price gouging, around here there are only a few local places to shop mom and pop and I tell you when you hear about the kind of price breaks you can get going just twenty miles away it kind of makes you wonder. -
Congadulations on the promotion! It's always a good feeling to know you haven't reached your ceiling. Good luck with the new position, sounds like quite the jump.

I'm thinking that a FN 5.7 round would have stopped the threat....

I'm thinking anything would have worked better than nothing. I have heard getting hit with a 38 feels like getting hit with a baseball bat. Dont know how true it ever was, don't know about now what with advancements in tech. If it's true I have to imagine that getting hit in the chest with six bats might just be enough to make even a defect like that slow down. -
I'm still waiting to play catch up on the last season or two. Left off after they went to jail and the other guys got the IRA dude and ATF lady. Hurry up Netflix!! SOA along with Breaking Bad have officially revitalized my faith in television.

Very well said Lester. As I've said numerous times, we might have a chance at getting someone worth a damn in office if we'd start voting for people we believe in as opposed to voting for those we believe can win.
-
I'm under the impression that many flight regulations aren't so much about actuall security as they are perceived security. For instance, I can't bring a baseball bat on board but I won't get any trouble about bringing an electric guitar with removable quarter sawn maple neck complete with six handy dandy garrotte cables. Anyway, glad the case works I hate spending money just to make people feel better about their own issues.

You know I really don't get where all the animosity twords ArmyVeterans posts comes from. Do I agree with everything he posts? Nope. I do however applaud the fact that he recognizes certain issues and tries to spread alternate view points in regards to them. What ever happened to the rule Thumpers father taught him? "If you can't say anything nice, don't say nothing at all." Keep in mind this is not directed at anyone, it just seems like alot of times he goes out of his way to post something he feels passionately about just to get the $h@t end of the stick handed back to him. Anyway. Thanks for the vid AV, like Sam I'm pretty skeptical but interesting none the less.

Don't quote me but I'm not sure that a zippered soft case would pass muster with all airlines. Can't recall where but I have seen sone generic hardcases for pistols selling for about $10.00 On the other hand I have also read certain airlines retain lockable hardcases for use during flight. Not sure if you'd have to pay a fee to rent, maybe you buy them permanently, but I have read they exist. Also some airlines have a limit to the quantity of handguns allowed per case. I think I'm about tapped out of info on airline travel in regards to the 2nd.

How wierd, I've only used my factory Ruger case with one lock. I'm almost positive that's not a TSA stance, maybe a Chicago thing? One other thing I did was to make up business cards with just my cell phone number on them and place them in the bag, and another sticking out of the gun case. With my phone turned on until the last minute I figured it would help in the event that they wanted to get ahold of me for any reason. Interesting tidbit, from what I understand it was at one point popular for photographers to buy a cheap pistol and check it in with their more expensive equipment to make sure none of the TSA flunkies had any access to their $$$ lenses and cameras. That way your bag is screened once right in front of you and not gone into again without you being present. It's not just your gun case that's verboten, it's the baggage carrying the case.

Lol, yeah the gate looked like fluting on the cylinder. On the plus side the finish on the parts matches up well.
-
OK I'm officially on the short bus. It looked to me as though the gate was closed with a notch cutaway. Upon reevaluation the gate is in fact open and what I'm seeing is the frame. Sometimes viewing on an iPhone has it's advantages, this was not one of those times.
-
Yup. That's why I'm curious as to why the loading gate is cutaway like it is. It almost looks as though you wouldn't have to swing it open but I can't imagine that being too practical. The loading gate on mine is solid covering the cylinder.
-
Glad it's a shooter. I can't help by like the looks if that loading gate. What's the deal there? Can it be loaded/unloaded without opening? Or just cosmetic? Either way great looking piece. I like single actions for the same reason Hipower isn't in love with them. Like a single shot rifle, after taking the time and going through the motions of loading I tend to take a bit more time with the shooting. Plus I find the whole process relaxing, probably because I don't do it competivaly. Also helps with another problem I have of going out and burning through 50 rounds in 15 minutes.

From my experience it's easy to fly with your firearm. A few things I've noticed on here that I'd like to put my input on. A. It is against TSA protocol to access your firearm without you present. If they need access for any reason they'll find you. I'd also be sure to use a non TSA approved lock to secure the case. Sure they can cut it, but under their guidelines they won't and it will make it easier on you to determine they haven't been "messing around" when you get to your destination and find you lock intact. B. Should you find yourself making an unscheduled layover in say NYC, don't take possession of your baggage. You'd probably have to ask for it to get it, I've never had the opportunity to get my checked baggage on a layover anyway. As long as your not in possession of the gun you should be fine. This may or may not mean checking in two bags if you feel you would need clothes, toiletrys, etc. in the event of a long layover and can't fit enough essentials into your carry on. Now, one thing you'll want to remember is decorum. Dint just mosey on up to the counter and say "I've got a gun here." Try "hello, here's my ticket, I've got however many bags, and I'd like to declare a firearm in this bag." You'll fill out a form, really just some basic info and be done. You shouldn't even have to touch your firearm and if you do I'd ask to do so somewhere more private than the main terminal to avoid exciting airport PD. Really no big deal. Last time the TSA agent said only one thing in regards to my gun. "Nice choice!"
