  1. Lots of guns in Canada. Not sure about Calgary specifically, but lots of privately owned guns in civilians hands for our neighbors up North. Actually just looked it up and it looks like they're getting pretty good about their laws, even starting to get in on concealed carry. Not an option for everyone, but they're starting to get it. If I had to live anywhere else BESIDES America, it would probably be Canada.
  2. Best show in a long time IMO. Last night was the best this season, it was starting off kind of weak I thought. Glad they didn't jump the shark with just one season left.
  3. I'm with rebel on this one. It may not happen in my lifetime but either my kids or grandchildren or maybe even great grandchildren will eventually be hard pressed to find these at whatever the future equivalent to $100 bucks. I bought three 91/30s last month and am keeping one boxed up in the original cosmoline just in case I do live to see the day. Between all the rifles bubba'ed, confiscated by the popo as evidence, turned in for $50 Starbucks gift cards, buried in preppers back yards and forgotten, and just plain old used and abused there will be a day when even an average clean example are considered collectables. Hell I consider them collectable now, just not expensive. Ditto on the ammo, that will most likely be the first to go way way up. I need to put in an order pretty quick. So collectable, yes absolutely. Having said that I also won't be banking my retirement on them.
  4. I fell for it. Course I've had a few today so that may explain it but still, well played.
  5. Go to imfdb.com to see some stills, I'm on my iPhone so I still can't make it out to clearly but it looks round to me. There's a picture of her resting it against a wall that offers full view of the receiver.
  6. I too have been the recipient of that distinguished award many a time. I won an enormous stuffed animal once when I was probably ten or so at a church raffle. The thing was easily 4' and took up the better part of the back seat of the van on the way home. Didn't care too much for it so when my parents suggested donating it to the local childrens burn ward off it went. When I was thirteen I managed to win one of those band mirrors at a carnival. Def Lepard baby! Same year I earned/won a marksman first class medal in Civil Air Patrol. I think thats about it.
  7. I was kind o thinking the same thing, a hex head would be harder to mess up than a regular philips or flat head. Either the bit fits or it doesn't so no more sloppy looking slots. Of course some guys may prefer a sloppy slot, but hey I don't judge based on what people do in the privacy of home. I do like those grips K, makes me jones for an 82 to doll up.
  8. Plus the KSG can carry different loads, now someone will probably be along shortly to argue the merit of carrying two different saiga mags loaded with different loads but hey at least with the KSG you don't have to adjust or swap anything to make those loads function. Now having said that I'd take one of each if money wherent an issue.
  9. Lots of people are happy with their Heritage .22s. For less than $200 they seem like the way to go, don't come in pink though from what I've seen. Getting out of the single action world the prices seem to jump up a bit. Taurus makes a few DA/SA revolvers that seem pretty nice but believe those are in the $250-$300 range. Ruger makes both single and double action but the price is higher still. The quality is great though. One thing to consider if your thinking of carrying snake shot is all the above manufacturers make models with interchangeable cylinders for 22magnum which hold more shot. Those models are where I'd be looking personably, that way one of you guys could be carrying regular for dispatching anything furry and nasty while the other carries snake loads for anything scaly.
  10. So it's the opposite of American Guns where they take about $2k worth of gun, add less than$1k worth of accesorys and smithing and sell it for $10k. Still sounds like crappola to me.
  11. Tn, glad it went as well as it could. I think your right from the sound of it your bro needs new friends, ones that won't get him in a crazy mess like that to begin with or at least get out of the car and have his back. I'd probably leave this alone and just remember the who, what, where. Glad your bro is safe and unharmed.
  12. I would recommend either a police station, highway patrol, or in a pinch hospital. Hospitals generally have some kind of LEO presence, bringing people in on the way to jail among other things. Or find out where LE "hangs out" in your area, maybe there's a church or school parking lot that affords a good veiw of a high travel street where they spend some time waiting. Never make it easy to find out where you live, I wouldn't even go down my own street, to easy for the BG to leave off only to come back and see the car in the driveway. Things like this will happen and there's no safe way to figure out why. Its unfortunate but we just have to assume the worst in people. Glad your son made it home safe.
  13. Yeah that's kind of what happened. Went on a spree with AIM and ended up with the following, 3 91/30s, a CCCP Nagant revolver, and a Star model B in 9mm. I know, I know, pics or it didn't happen... I'll try to get on it soon. So next up is a P1 from Wideners with either A Makarov or Tokarev, possibly an Enfeild. Any way it's all gotta wait for a while as I've decided I can't go on much longer without a "real" 1911.
  14. San Fransisco sucks, period. To the best of my knowledge there's no law against homeless people having guns, there is however laws about how any guns are carried. Pretty similar to how they have to be transported here without a carry permit. Guns and ammo must be in separate compartments of the vehicle. Glove box does not count as a separate compartment. Now having said that, that's no California cache. At one time I had easily double that in a one bedroom apartment. Buddy of mine out there has close to two dozen with well over 10k rounds. Some of it preban evil, cop killing, baby scaring, armor piercing, military style ammunition. It makes it hard to defend California the way it sits, but this isn't the mentality that the whole state shares. Just the loudest, most obnoxious faction.
  15. If your talking about CDNN, from what I understand they never actually have any in stock. They can list the price at whatever they want if they haven't got any. I was talking to one of the guys at outpost armory about these and he said basically it wasn't even worth looking up what they'd sell one at as they can't get them. Now having said that, the news that there may be a lr conversion just makes me want one more. I did get a chance to check out an RFB at a gunshow in Nashville about a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised as the seller was asking exactly MSRP for what is probably their hardest to find weapon. I thought that was damn decent of him.
  16. Yeah I think $300-$400 sounds about right. It's funny, KelTec I think has some very reasonable and realistic MSRPs, too bad retailers aren't taking the suggestion. Between the PMR, the PLR, KSG, RFB and Sub2000 I think KT has some of the coolest stuff out there.
  17. The guy that won the ship that will make past lightspeed off Lando. You know, that guy...
  18. I think the KSG is pretty cool. It's refreshing to see something that is not just a new take on an old idea. If they were reliably available I'd probably have one, but as is I'm not going to try to budget in an item I can't even find. Same goes for the PMR 30, I'd really like to have one but haven't even seen one in person, and probably wouldn't pay the grossly inflated price tag. Maybe KelTec will expand their facilities at some point and actually fill the demand somewhat.
  19. This. Also kinda hard to hide that Adams apple.
  20. I think my point may not be getting across which is my fault as I'm not as well spoken as I'd like to be. The only thing I'm in disagreement with so far is that showing force alone will stop most any violent altercation. And even then I agree that the odds are in your favor that it will, just don't be surprised if it doesn't. Not that there's anything you can really do about it if it doesn't except maybe up the equation with more force if possible, and be prepared for that scenario. And just to clarify what would I do if backed into a corner? I don't know. It all depends on the corner, who's backed up with me, and who's backing me/us into it, and why. The one thing I do know is I'd much rather make that choice armed to defend myself than not and either way it needs to be a quick decision.
  21. Well I think 99.99% is a bit strong, but on the whole I agree. All I'm trying to say is I wouldn't bet my life on whatever the odds are, and even a coward can stand his ground if his survival depends on it. I think QuietDan has the right of this, do whatever is in your ability to stop the threat as quick as possible. Me, I'm not even going to consider the fact that someone who has already gone that far into endangering my life might want to quit and go home just because I turned out not to be an easy target. If he does run fine, but I'm not going to hold myself back from the strongest warranted action in the hopes that he does. I hope to never be in that kind of situation but if that's where I end up I just hope to be the one least injured. As to the tons of videos of people fighting back and criminals fleeing, I'd be willing to bet there's as many of people fighting back and losing with tragic results in the evidence rooms of LEO world wide. I had a friend once who was convinced he could stop even the wildest dog from attacking by hitting it in the nose. I guess he's never been proven wrong cause he he's never been attacked by a dog, but not being proved wrong doesn't make him right. The message I'm trying to make is don't underestimate.
  22. I've been wondering the same thing so no real help on my end. The ones on shopruger look pretty decent but there has to be better one out there. What kind of reflex did you go with? I tried a walmart red dot but wasn't to thrilled with it.
  23. Actually Jonnin there are alot of places in Ca where you can live and get a CCW. Usually the unincorperated areas are ok to deal with as well as Orange County. Sheriff Youngblood of Kern county was at one time pretty adamant that if you could legally own a gun you should be able to carry one. Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Francsisco, and Ventura county are pretty much out but there are places that will allow it. Shame they refuse to honor out of state permits though. The one thing that really did get my goat was the ten day cool off period. Ok fine, you want to make sure I'm not buying a gun in the heat of the moment to settle some kind of dispute or quarrel fine. But it never stops no matter how many guns you own. I remember at one time having to wait on a single action pistol when I had no less than three other handguns at home. If I wanted to do something aggressive with a gun why spend $500 when a box of ammo cost $12? I don't know, all I know is I'm much happier here in that regard, but Ca is not without it's charms/perks.
