I don't know K, Jesse isn't all cracked now, he's been using his a brain and is pretty sharp IMO. Maybe not "smart" but definitely sharp I think he'd make the connection if it were in front of him. I guess he didn't see it though so perhaps his ignorance will keep him safe.

California To Pass Bill Restricting BB Guns
TrickyNicky replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think Dolomite hit the nail right on the head. It's unfortunate that Ca's leaders and I use that term loosely don't seem to get it. What's even more unfortunate are the people who live there and know better but feel obliged to stay for whatever reasons. Having been in that position I feel for them. I wonder if there will now be a thriving black market for BB guns, lord knows there's nothing else illegal out there you can't get your hands on if you really want it. Or maybe now ALL the kids will invest in real guns, after all their black market hook up will have the option. As much as I love and miss my old homestate, I sure can't stand most of the politics. -
Good job! I know one of the best feelings to me is to share the sport with someone and it's even better when you can get a young person started on the right track. I really wish I was a better shot, one of the things I think I would enjoy most would be an opportunity to teach marksmanship to kids or even adults for that matter.

How to acquire your C&R FFL license
TrickyNicky replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Great post! I'm half heartedly in the middle of compiling some useful info to help people get going with their C&R and this just scratched a few things off the list. Hope it gets pinned so it doesn't get lost. -
That's true enough today, I guess the same way I like my C&R guns for the fact that they are what they are I like older cheap guns as well. In the case of the "zinc antique" it's an interest that combines the two. It's older and has history, in this case the history is that of and inexpensive means of protection from a time when your choices where somewhat limited. I wouldn't use one nowadays for protection anymore than I'd want my Mosin in a combat zone but still the fact remains, to me at least old cheap guns are nifty. Pobably the same reason I like old guitars, you can get a better guitar for less money today and I'd never use my 65 epiphone olympic at a gig or for recording. The pickup buzzes loudly, it's not articulate and all in all for the money I could have easily gotten a much better modern guitar but I have lots of better modern guitars, I LIKE a few of the old crappy ones. I guess there's just no accounting for tastes?

It's sad when someone my age -28 can remember when things made sence. We had squirt gun fights in school at recess in the summer. Why? It was hot, and squirt guns wherent considered weapons quite yet. Probably a good half of my recess and lunch times were spent chasing other kids with squirt guns or fingers extended like pistols. As I recal there were no casualties of our little wars, not even one case of a crippling disfigurement. Hard to believe I know, yet still true. Now the monkey bars, those were the the implements truly designed to test the mettle of a third grader. You weren't anyone unless you pulled yourself to the top and walked the length like a gymnast. Five foot by ten feet of terror. Ok enough reminiscing, the parents need to contact the ADA who should come down on the school like a ton of bricks. It would also be interesting to hear what the members of the city attorney has to say on the matter.

That was what I was planning before I saw the polymer, but I can get a complet pistol and a complete rifle for the same price as one complete forged one. I don't need them to last longer than I do, in fact as long as they last just as long as I do I'd be happy. I'm not planning on kids so they'd just end up with my brother Steve, and we got a saying back in Ca, "fu#$ Steve."

Steelharp that is seriously BA. On the subject of WB, I'm not surprised but definetly disappointed. This shows a serious lack in desicion making, they probably think people in the south will turn out for the movie just because its TDoH and they can get some more action from "civilized" folks by removing that "racist" flag. How stupid can they be? Said "civilized" folks aren't going to magically love the Dukes just because they change the car, and hopefully most southerners won't show up to see something that denies them their heritage. I hope this tanks. I also hope they go way over budget on it and that it hurts when it tanks.

I don't know, I wouldn't blame Walt for the airplane crash. Was he a catalyst to the event, sure but he wasn't the one directing air traffic either. As harsh as it may seem the fault comes down to a grieving dad returning to work before he was ready to. There's a connection but the buck has to stop somewhere and it's not with Walt. Might as well blame Jane for taking the heroin, or the dealer who sold it to her, or the dealer that sold it to the dealer that sold it to her, or the smuggler that sold it to the dealer who sold it to the dealer who sold it to her, or the person/s who made the stuff in the first place. Now I'm thinking the M60 is gonna be for this new crew that Mike found to buy the precurser(sp?) Out of everyone involved I think Jessie at this point has the best chance to make it out of the fire unscathed, what I'm wondering is didn't he see that potted plant in the back of Walts yard that the poison came from that hospitalized his girlfriends brother? I thought he did in which case there may be retribution on his mind already.

Love it! I was driving around with my brother on Sunday and saw a big Obama 12 sign in someones front yard. I told my brother I can't believe some people are willing to vote for him again and ge said he hears about O all the time at work. Says people tell him he should be voting Obama because "he's different" like that is always a good thing. This wouldn't surprise me if my bro worked in a lower income area but he works in Brentwood, you'd think people living in a nice neighborhood would care more about the economy or at least have some common sense, I mean I'm sure most of them didn't get a nice house being stupid.

Islamic Prayers at DNC Convention
TrickyNicky replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wouldn't care one bit if they allowed Islamic prayers provided they hadn't shot down the Catholic one. Favoritism is plain bad anyway you slice it. I'd be upset if they only allowed Christian prayer or Jewish prayer as well, if your going to go ahead and walk over the separation of church and state, at least let everyone march in the parade. -
Can't believe no ones said this yet. Send it to me, I'll appreciate it for what it is (and isn't) and give it a good home till it needs disposing of. Seriously though, some older "junk guns" are cool just because of what they represent to me. Sone people look at them and see a cheap tool to commit a crime, I see an inexpensive defensive tool that anyone regardless of personal finance can afford to own. As wierd as it may be to sone of us, some people don't want to spend their free time on a gun range or reading about them on a forum or magazine. Some people just want to own something that can be used last ditch to protect themselves and their families. They dont care if it works everytime over the course of 500-1000-10,000 rounds, they just want it to work that one time they do need it. Longevity is not at all a factor for those people. Cheap guns are nifty.

An M1 set has been missing from my collection for way to long now. One of these days I'll have to fix that, hopefully sooner rather than later as it doesn't look good for those Korean war ones to get let back in and prices are going nowhere but up.

Anyone tried one, or better yet own one? I'm thinking these could be a good way to get starte in the AR platform without breaking the bank but just curious if I'm better off getting all metal parts. I'm thinking of doing something similar to one of Dolamites projects, a basic no frills light weight tack driver. Maybe installing some kind of optic, maybe just sticking with open sights. No frills just an accurate simple rifle. Maybe an adjustable gas block and threading for a can but that would be it. The second ones a bit different. This one would be a tacticool liberal pansy's worst nightmare. I want to start off as pistol and eventually get my stamp to build an SBR out of it along with a stamp to get a FA rated can. Then put a slide fire stock on it. No practical reason, I'm not a mall ninja of anything but I've spent most of my life in Ca where you can't do anything like that so I'm kind of just wanting to do it to do it. Plus all my Ca shooting buddies will be jealous as hell. So with those two projects in mind what do you all think about polymer lowers? A good choice to save some money, or just doing things cheaper than they need to be done?

Seems odd, maybe they're taking the opposite approach to American Guns? Slick Rich would try to have you believe that $1,200-$1,500 worth of guns is worth about $10,000 after he "works" on it, while this new show is radically downplaying costs. Either way, just remember while watching. Crap load o' crap, straight from crap town. Haven't even bothered with this new show and honestly I doubt I will, I get the outdoor channel and can just watch one of MidwayUSA's shows. Drama free, and the prices they mention are MSRP. Also who is this Yeager guy? Am I supposed to care? If he can shoot a playing card in half, out of someones hand, one handed, hanging upside down, double action like Ed McGivern, I'll probably start giving a crap. So can he? Didn't think so. Crap not given. <Edited due to pre coffee confusion>

You can write a check and send that in with your paperwork. I'm pretty sure you just make it out to BATF.

Sounds like something pretty much any older main character from Heinlein would say. Long, Farnham, Col. Campbell/aka/Ames, Lt. Razak, etc. I've often gotten the feeling that Heinlein was constantly writing story's about one particular alter ego. I've also thought that most lead females are based partly on his wife's finer attributes. It's almost eerie how similar yet different his characters were.

Seems logical to me, thanks for filling us in. I had initially decided to just stay out of this one but curiosity got the better of ne in the end.

It looks good that's for sure. How's the trigger?

Didn't even know about it... I do love me some BBQ... not a big fan of crowds and traffic though. Think I'll head to the range instead.

I know right, what did I miss?
