Planes and scrapers were probably the tools of choice for most smoothing or finishing work. Shellac and othe varnishes ruled the roost up until nitrocellulose came into popularity.

No regs saying they're not supposed to, sucks though. I have heard it used to be a popular trick for photographers to declare small pistol packed away with their camera equipment just to keep the TSA out. Maybe you could do something similar next time? Glad you had a safe flight, have fun in Fl.

"Thats fine, I don't care..." To each his own, I probably wont ever go through much trouble to see them have the right or privilege if you prefer, but I also wouldnt be part of stopping them. "Planned parenthood probably wouldn't be around without tax dollars..." So be it, see above. Seems a shame in some ways though, if you think there's alot of welfare babies now... "Sometimes you have to make decisions based on things than your own let desires..." Sometimes you do, and sometimes you don't. Still not sure what that has to do with people "knowing" how I'll vote based on how I feel about a separate issue? "I'd say it needs to be a combination of all you mention" Could very well be, I don't claim to be an expert. "Sometimes that is impossible..." Sometimes it is, other times it isn't. Nothing we can do about the times when it is except go with our gut/head/heart or some combination of. Let me pose a question, a highly unlikely question at that. If the Democratic party had a better, and I mean all around better candidate than the Republican party, would you feel bound to the Republican candidate just because he's running with your party? Now remember, for the sake of the question the Dem is conservative, pro gun, pro fiscal responcibilty, in essence a republican running under the wrong party while the other is the worst the Rep party has to offer. I'd say that's a good reason to look at the issue separate from prior elections wouldn't you? BTW, no offence intended shorting your answers. Got to get ready for bowling and had to save some time.

Man Spots looks like you all are having a blast. Ive always thought alot of the forgotten arts arent really so much forgotten as most people think, glad to see some people living the life. My fathers taught me a hell of a lot about many things, unfortunately blacksmithing wasn't one of them. I'm envious.

You hit the nail on the head there Razz. I'm all for civil union between same sex couples, don't think I ever have or ever will vote democrat. Id be all for planned parenthood provided my tax dollars didn't pay for it and it was supported through charitable donations, once again proudly a registered Republican since I was old enough to vote. ACLU, don't know enough about them to allow the issue to sway my vote one way or the next. No one can know the way a man will feel about any given issue based solely on how he feels about another, unless that is he's got some kind of seventh sence which I doubt highly. People talk on here all the time about what would make America a better country, some say it would be enough just to get rid of Obama, some say we all need to find God and put our faith in the church, others say a strong return to traditional family values is the key. My two cents is learn to take issues one at a time independent of each other and stand by what you believe is right regardless of what your political party is saying.

How so? Never noticed much similarity myself, then again I'm going off a P1 and a 92.

Could be theyre on the take, could be much more innocent. They have a budget, an inordinate amount of their funding is being spent on what would seem to be a dead case, while much to Walts displeasure, he's not the only game in town. Hank seems to believe it's still worth looking into, maybe because he's guessed Walts secret, maybe because he's still got an axe to grind over getting shot, who knows. All we know is his higher ups want him looking for other fish to fry.

Man Who Carried AK-47 Pistol In Park Loses Appeal
TrickyNicky replied to MikePapa1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
From what little I've read about the guy that almost sounds like his end goal. It seems he wants to become a "martyr" for the same cause he hurts while claiming to help. I don't think much of anyone so selfish as to give ammo to the grabbers just to make a statement, there are plenty of positive ways to excercise rights without having to resort to antics more befitting a lunatic. -
How old do have to be before you stop doing...
TrickyNicky replied to jtmaze's topic in General Chat
I've got an identical scar on the same finger just above the middle knuckle. Been pretty lucky the last few years but even as I type this I know I'll get bit again one of these days. I can't help but laugh looking at most of my scars. Reminders of childhood stupidity. -
California To Pass Bill Restricting BB Guns
TrickyNicky replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I had to lol at that. Reminded me of the bb gun fights we'd have indoors shooting q-tips at one another. They work really well if you wanted to have some fun inside. Just cut them in half and load them so the poofy end hits the target. They fly pretty straight they're cheap and they won't break the window/lamp/whatever. Well anyway one day we're having an indoor shootout and someone grabbed some of those plastic shafted bad boys and started loading them up. The cotton tips get pushed up on impact and those hollow plastic shafts actually hurt! One guy got hit in the just the right way where they actually gouged a chunk of skin out. We decided it was safer to just go outside and stick with the three pump rule, no one got hurt that way. -
Just stopped by for the first time tonight and ne some of the crew. You all run a nice, clean friendly store. Not at all surprised by your success. Congratulations on your two year milestone, here's to many more.

Man wish I wasn't so far away. I'd have to buy a lot to make it worth the trip.

Good point Waynesan. FWIW I understand some airlines keep an inventory of approved cases on hand as well so worst case you may have been able to check with them to get on the flight. Don't know if you rent or buy them or even first hand if they are generally available to the public but have heard they're out there.

Man that is too funny! I really like how the bad cat even has a sinister look to his smile in comparison to the angelic look on the bad cats. This will probably have me chuckling most of the day.

A thought just occurred with the mention of trigger guards, can I replace the grips, stock et all to fit the slide fire on one of these? Not really a deal breaker either way as I doubt I'd use it very often but it would be a nice finishing touch for my Non Ca compliant masterpiece lol.

Skinny Pete and badger know, they met him in the aerospace center looking place for a meeting and handoff with Jesse. We'll have to see about Hank, his higher ups don't seem to want him putting his time on the case anymore but it's anyones guess how they will react to Mikes death. He doesn't seem to care about much beyond the blue ice issue bit that may turn into a downfall for him as well.

Well it's like I said, you can't best father time by being put in a glass bottle. Probably the best stuff I've ever drank was some aged scotch that was bottled than left for ten or so years in a box in the garage. Kind of wasted on me as I've never been much of a scotch drinker but that was gooood. That Booker stuff sounds good, I'm going to have to try that out.

Wow. I've seen some interesting guitar adds but that would certainly go to the "head" of the list.

Exactly, don't take possesion of your baggage and you'll be just fine. It's not exactly like the airline or TSA wants you to take possesion either, they don't. It means more work for them removing your baggage, checking it out of the system and then going through the whole check in procedure again when your flight comes in. More work for the same pay, I can see why they don't want the hassle. Also worth noting that it looks pretty funny and might raise more than just a few eyebrows for a passwner to check in new baggage midway through a multi leg flight. We're both right on this one, trouble can happen as you stated, but you have to make it happen. Flying into NY city with a gun in your baggage won't get you arrested unless that's your final destination or you take possesion of your luggage. It might not even get you arrested if NY was your final destination. It wouldn't be until you declared the firearm on the return flight that the fireworks would begin. Also should probably add the obligatory "I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advise but only an opinion(as well founded and researched as it may be)"

Congratulations to Steelharp for making probably the first post regarding Muslims on TGO that I whole heartedly agree with. Makes no sense whatsoever. It's kind of similar the phenomenon of Americans who's parents/grandparents/great-grandparents etc. Moved to America to be Americans only to have said decendants go out of their and try to make changes to the system that attracted their elders to begin with. If you really think grandpa was wrong, move back to whatever Europian "utopia" your family came from but don't try turning my America into France/England/Italy/Greece/etc politicaly. Celebrate your heritage and what makes those country's great all you want but don't go messing with the way things are here.

No offence to you at all LJ but there are also stories out there about Bigfoot. You would have to try to take possession of your baggage during either a planned or unintentional layover. It's actually not something they want to do, once your baggage is checked in it's checked in and you can't get at it (easily) until you have reached the destination airport baggage claim area. This is why it always a good idea to have anything you need to see you through a 24 hour period in tour carry on, not just when your flying with a gun.

Has that ever been an issue? Lol glad I missed that thread...

I'm wondering what he plans on doing about them when he gets those names. As much as he may hate to admit it Walts not quite a kingpin, he hasn't got anyone on the inside that we're aware of so he'll be needing to contract some help for that. Which could also explain the m60. He may need to deal with whoever he contracts.
-
From what I understand only a problem if you take possesion of your baggage. Bring enough clothes and necessities in your carry on to avoid the issue. Unless you plan on arming yourself as soon as you get out of the airport I'd just leave your ammo in it's factory packaging out side your gun case in your baggage. For that luggage as well as gun case Id recommend using NON TSA approved locks. As I'm sure OP knows, it is against TSA regs to access baggage known to contain a properly checked in firearm without you being present. If they need something in there or need to double check they will find you, I recommend printing a business card or similar with just your phone number and leaving your cell on to help them if neccasery. Leave the card in the space designed to hold that personal info card outside the luggage. When you arrive at your destination a quick glance at your intact non TSA locks will give you piece of mind that all has gone well and help keep the honest people honest while your bag is in transit. Have a safe trip.

I was thinking along those lines only opposite. Due to the hassle of transferring ownership it's pretty unlikely I'd ever sell a SBR, so it's essentially going to be with me forever right? On those terms the thought of any perceived monetary value are moot. My personal prederence in the whole metal vs plastic debate is function, does it work? Does it work well? Will it last? The answer to all those questions is yes in regards to both plastic and metal. In that light I think the polymer is the way to go for me, and since that will be a keeper that's all that ultimately matters. I've just got to convince myself I'm not cheaping out, just being economical. Lol. Anyway, the deed is done. Just placed my order for two rifle and one pistol receivers. Was originally going to get just one of each but figured since they are having a sale and with the possibility of a price increase as we get closer to this election it would be smart to stock up. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll be joining the AR club soon.
