  1. Shot a few, when my brother approached me about buying a handgun that's what we got him. I had to loan him some cash but we made it happen. Very sturdy well built guns, a great choice for a first IMO. the only drawback I've noticed is the trigger slaps back kind of hard. Actually a double edged sword, while it may not be the most comfortable it resets with a vengeance. I don't think I could make that thing jam if I wanted to. You really need to get out there and shoot that bad mofo, Rugers are made for shooting. Lots and lots of shooting.
  2. Nice shooting. I only owned 1-3 guns at a time for the last 6 years until last year and a half or so. Went from 2 to, well I stopped keeping count at 12. So yeah, this is a support group. Unfortunately for your wallet we support the decision to buy more guns.
  3. I like that a lot. Great idea well executed. As to building it yourself... This just might be one of those instances where if you have to ask, your probably already in trouble. I wonder what they cost to just buy? They'd have to be a pretty penny before I would even think about breaking out the tape measure.
  4. Anyone have a PO #? tried looking but I guess my bing-Fu is a bit lacking.
  5. This is not a Memphis issue, these gun buy backs happen all over the country. We had one in Nashville some months back. There is a thread somewhere on here about a pro gun group using one of these to turn cheap broken guns into cash used to provide serviceable rifles to a youth marksmanship camp. Makes ne lol just thinking about it.
  6. Huge +1 for D&T. Well worth the drive and they'll take care of you. Try and buy something while your there, I can't see how they make anything charging $15.

    My latest.

There's just something about that Ithica... The others all look great as well but I know which one visually impresses me the most by far. Nice collection.
  8. I'm gonna gave to differ from the crowd and say GP100. My reasoning? That's the one I own. Ruger makes a great utility gun. Tough, dependable, good customer service, and not alot of scratch either.
  9. Damn Dolomite, that looks like you carved it out of a solid chunk of epic win.
  10. ROFL!!
  11. Somehow I knew you'd be the one to answer that. I was hoping there was some hidden magic behind the trend that would make me instantly want to go find one, now I'm glad there isn't. I need another 10/22 but not for awhile.
  12. Nice, I've liked the looks of those since they came out. There's just something about a pistol able to take a 25rd magazine that just makes me smile.
  13. Best. Answer. Ever.
  14. Wonder why the boat paddles go for so much? Are they really any better or just collectable? They look kind of neat I guess...
  15. I'd put the grand in my pocket and do a tour of local gun/pawn shops and see if anything just screamed "buy me" Having a plan on spending money can be over rated, sometimes it's more fun to just shop around and see what's out there. Having said that a Rock Island 1911 along with a Henry pump 22 would probably get the cash flowing pretty quick.

  17. I don't know, I'd have to be in there ALOT for that to make any kind of sense then when you factor in the cost of overpriced ammo any sense of feeling economical just goes right out the window. I'll keep giving my business to Charlie at CHMR. He's a great guy and I like shooting outdoors better anyway. I'd be willing to bet he'd take that same $500 it would cost one person for one year at Useltons and sell ten year long memberships for it. Plus he doesn't care if you want to pick up your brass or not and reloads are A-OK over there. I may get a membership at Nashville Armory when it opens, apparently they are going to rent FA weapons and members get free gun rentals so it may be worth the money to have a place like that to bring out of state friends into.
  18. I was going to suggest the Masterpiece arms as well, don't own one but they look good on paper. Reviews are good and the price is right. If I didn't already have a p32 I'd be all over one. I'm mostly into wood and steel but have come around lately to the plastic fantastics, nothing wrong with polymer IMO.
  19. This +100. They get a contract they fill it end of story. If you want to get upset about the quality of crap coming from PRC, get upset at the ones asking for crap for our market.
  20. What you did there... I saw it. LMFAO!!
  21. Yup probably one of if not the best things on tv for awhile now.
  22. Yeah I remember seeing that on another thread and being green with envy. I wish I had the tools/skills you've got. Anyway, what's the point of the slab side barrels? Is it just to cut down a bit on weight on a bull barrel? I think they look really sharp, but have no idea what if any practical purpose they have.
  23. A hex wrench is nothing, you need a mallet to fully take down the Ruger. The one thing I like about the buckmark over the mk series is the full grip you can get on the slide while loading a round into the chamber. The Ruger just has those little handles and they can pinch you a bit if you dont slingshot it. Not a huge issue for me but still...
  24. If it's any indication, I've gone 2-3000 rounds between cleaning my mkiii with absolutely no issue. I spray down the action with a clp and wipe off the face of the chamber but that's about it. Clean it more thoroughly about every 2-3 months. I'm not an advocet about not cleaning, quite the opposite actually, but the Ruger is the exception to the rule. If I had to guess as to the life expectancy in terms of rounds Id guess somewhere between 100,000 to 100,000,000. Now that's as a whole, you may need new extractors or firing pins or springs in that time but the bolt, frame, trigger group etc. seem built to last a few lifetimes. If I was in the market again with an eye on getting a suppresor I'd look into the 22/45 that comes prethreaded to save some time and cost. Also have the sr22 and really like it, but I'm not sure it could be easily threaded?
  25. All I can say is if you get it and hate it I'd give you your back in it if you passed it my way. That thing looks cool as hell!
