You forgot the Nagant Mac. Everybody who's anybody has got an old Russian battle rifle or three floating around.

Cool Springs Walmart has a DPMS AR in 308 for less than $900. Could be a good base to build from.

Just got the iPhone 5 in the mail yesterday. I'm liking it so far but it's important to realize that for the most part what one smart phone can do so can another. For me the reasoning behind the iPhone was simple, they just work and are easy to operate even for me someone who doesn't understand or care much about tech. The iPhone=Glock annolagy was pretty well said IMO. I don't need an instruction manual, I just figure it out, when I get really stuck I just hold down the idiot button and ask Siri to do it for me.

^^^ This. I used to smoke a sh&@ load of the stuff, probably close to my body weight worth and never once, not even for a second did I ever consider eating any part of a human. The guy who did that was/is a psychopath end of story. I find it a bit humorous and a bit sad that many folks anti-pot sentiments nearly exactly mirror the opinions and concerns of the gun grabbers... People with no first hand experience with firearms will be sure to tell you all about how dangerous guns are and how that anyone even owning one is a dire threat toward their personal freedoms and liberties. Of course those of us who do have the experience know this a bunch of poppycock. Liars will always lie, cheaters will always cheat, rapists will always rape, and murderers will always kill. What that has to do with an otherwise law abiding citizen making a decision that you don't personally agree with is what baffles me.

Garufa this one is for you bud

Wow, just wow. It's like a train crashed into another train then the rescue choppers ran out of steam and crashed into the remains. I want to stop looking but I just can't. -
Certain guns get cleaned more often than others, 10/22, mkiii, pretty much all the .22s actually only get cleaned about every 1-1.5k rounds. If I'm borrowing one of my dads they get cleaned everytime because that's his preference. Very rarely will I detail strip anything to clean individual components, usually just spay the works down with ballistol and either wipe off the excess or blast it out with the compressor or canned air. For cleaning the bore I usually just spray the inside with the ballistol and pull a few patches through from the chamber until they come out clean. Got an Otis cleaning system with the steel cables wrapped in plasic and really like it. I don't go out for their fancy patches though, nor do I bother cutting regular ones to use as they recommend, just put em through the loop and pull them through the works. I have heard about people ruining the accuracy of their Nagants by removing all the fouling out of the barrels, I wouldn't know as mine refuse to get any cleaner than not turning the patches blue yellow and green when pulled through. I went through a stack of patches, two different cleaners, and gummed a brush up beyond wanting to save it and the bores still turns patches black if wet with solvent. Stopped caring after I realized at 50 yards I can get 2-3 rounds touching with irons if and I do mean if I do my part. My opinion is keep them as clean as you want, 9.5 out of 10 quality designs will work just fine with minimal maintenance. The offs of even a decent weapon not functioning because they are dirty from use has to be astronomically low.

Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel. LOL!

My heart goes out to you and yours David. Be strong for your family and take comfort in their strength as well. You will be in my thoughts, Nick.

When did they ban lead bullets in Ca? Must have been in the last few months as last time I checked there was no such nonsense even being talked about. Now there are a few places in Ca where you can't hunt with lead due to the issues of condors getting sick, but I'm pretty sure those areas make up about 3% or less of the state. And most of them are in areas you couldn't hunt anyway. Is that what you meant or has something even wackier gone on? Back on topic, I find the whole thing extremely unlikely. I've got enough problems with Obama without having to grasp at straws on unrealistic ones.

That's the truth OS. I've done business with JoeBobs and think they're great, unfortunately the best customer service in the world is little help when you dont have the inventory. Palmetto will get business on sale items from me when I can afford the wait, or when I can't seem to find what I want anywhere else. It is a shame their CS department is so lacking though, CS is generally not rocket science just takes a good team who actually gives a damn. Hopefully they will get their act together and do right by their customers and ultimately themselves.

Thats exactly what I was thinking Smith. Some of us have to scrimp and save for our AK's, I'm still trying to raise the cash to buy one off one of our members but life keeps getting in the way. Meanwhile over in England they neuter them and give them away all namby pamby to "artists" just to prove the point that they don't like guns. They could have given them to me to enjoy just the way they are.

There's just something great about that. Maybe it's the fact that your handiest weapon was FA, maybe it's that you jumped up and used it. Maybevits just the image of someone chasing yotes at one in the am, with a FA something. Great story, shame Johnny Law had to spoil your evening.

I'd go 10/22. Especially for a first rifle, what your son likes now may not be what he's into in the future, as he gets older he may decide he'd rather have a tricked out tack driver that a high cap EBR, maybe he'll realize he HAS to have a folding paratrooper stock, who knows? Either way the 10/22 will cover all the bases. Besides it would make a fun father son project finding the stock he wants and putting it all together.

Could be, I haven't seen any that I can recall but then again I never looked all that hard either. That's one bug that hasn't bit quite yet. I was also thinking )if you want to call it that) I keep hearing how great Henry rifles are, everyone I've seen was top notch, I bet they could make an impressive pistol if they felt inclined.

I've got one that I'm quite pleased with. For $175 of the TGO classifieds I feel I got my money's worth. Mine eats Winchester white box 71 grains with no issues and they have a pretty flat nose. I still haven't gotten around to getting my permit so I only really carry at home but for that it's perfect. Stuff it in a pocket holster and Ive almost left with it on because I almost forget it's there. Once I get legal I will most likely get something a bit larger as a carry weapon but like BigK said I also wouldn't have dny second thoughts about carrying the P32 if I was only wearing shorts and a beater or something. I do think it's kind of funny that many diss the .32 yet I can't seem to find anyone manly enough to prove how wimpy a cartridge it is by subjecting themselves to just a puny little flesh wound. Same with the .22 and .25 fir that matter...

As much as this may shock and offend some out there, I'd really like to see a KelTec 1911. I think with a polymer frame to cut back on weight and hopefully a nice trigger they could have a winner, or at least be the first to try it that I'm aware of. The good news is it would pbably have a sub $500 MSRP. the bad news is due to everyone buying them to give first hand negative reviews coupled with KT's inability to meet demands they'd probably go for $800 on gunbroker. Blasphemy I know, luckily I'm equipped with a good flame suit.

What you should get IMO is in direct proportion to what you already have. If you've got all your practical firearm bases covered I'd recommend going out for a tour to all your local shops including pawn shops and seeing what's on the market locally. Some of the coolest stuff is the things you didn't realize you wanted until it was in your hands. Also consider making a bulk ammo purchase. $600 is enough to make online ammo sales cost effective after shipping. You can get about 2k of 7.62x39 and probably close to another 2k in 223 if you shop around a bit. Or maybe a lot of 9mm for practicing. Just think of the ungodly amount of 22cal you could buy with $600. Have fun with your fun money, that's what it's for.

Unsecured weapon, 3 year old child dies as a result
TrickyNicky replied to BravoLima's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty much but not quite. From what I remember it is a crime if a minor gains access to your firearm and uses it in a crime. All gun purchases include a lock on the pretense that you will use it to secure your gun from unauthorized access but it's not a law that you have to use it. In my case my whole apartment was one big old no kids zone, absolutely no reason whatsoever that any child should be in there at all. Having said that I was comfortable leaving any one of my guns loaded and easily available. Usually on my night stand. Also, kind of liked the lock with purchase. For a buck you got some nice usable padlocks. -
Gun range receives alcohol permit
TrickyNicky replied to strickj's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Back in Ca we'd load up the car with guns, ammo, beer and some sandwiches and make a whole day out of shooting in the desert. No one got hurt and everyone had a great time. To paraphrase what's been said already, guns don't just go off and if you can't safely operate one after a few drinks you either can't handle your booze or shouldn't be handling guns. -
Look what hatched out of our woodchip pile..
TrickyNicky replied to Dolomite`s Breezy's topic in General Chat
Why'd you have to let them go? Is a legality issue or just a practicality. I tend to fall in the let nature take it's course mentality but with those two guys I may have taken exception and helped em along for a year or so. -
Probably the best use of tech I've ever seen. For years the problem of wanting popcorn shot out of a machine directly into ones mouth has plagued top US scientists, now the world can breath easier knowing the future starts today.

Ditto, I'm hopefully going to be picking up a converted Saiga soon from another forum member and I got three AR lowers sitting around waiting to be finished. On top of that I seriously need to pick up a safe soon, for one I'm tripping over guns plus it's starting to get to the point where as a whole they're turning into an investment. Most of em hover around the 3-5 hundred range but it's the quantity that makes the value in my case.

I'm happy with mine, haven't gotten any uppers as of yet but I feel I made good choice. Two rifles and one pistol for just slightly higher than the cost of one good forged one, hard to beat that. Like Dolomite says, these triggers a pretty nice. They could be lighter but there is NO play, very crisp. Frontier Armory put out a pretty convincing video on YouTube where they collapsed an aluminum mag well to the point where a msg could be inserted but not released. They subjected their polymer to the same treatment and while there was some minor cracking, it was still able to accept and drop mags easily. The cracking wasn't bad either, it didn't so much split as just just weaken.

I think the only "deal" I've gotten on a firearm was my GP100. A buddy of mine needed some cash a few years so I helped him out. Fast forward to a year later and he's in a bind AGAIN. now since he hadn't yet paid back the original loan I was a bit reluctant to help, but he's my buddy so I said we'd work something out. I get to his place with $300. and he let's me know about this gun he had bought years ago and never fired just kind of bought it and forgot it. So he asks me if I'd be interested buying it outright instead of making a loan so we check it out, brand new 4 year old GP100. I said dine deal and that was the end of that. Same friend found a desert eagle in a box his friend left in his garage about 10 years ago and offered it up for $250. Really wish I had jumped on that one. Just too many unknowns about it though.
