Twenty five dollars!! WTF?! I thought the goi g rate on stolen guns was $50 through the PD? Cheapskates.

I wonder if the confiscation would affect her privately owned guns, she is after all a California CCW holder... Somehow I doubt it, after all being a highly paid public servant her life is clearly more important than the lives of the people she's paid to represent. The no grandfather clause IMO is there as a bargaining tool. By relaxing on that principal she can show an easy sign of "compromise" to help gun owners "get what they want" while she takes all that she can get. She's a tool.
I'm actually considering changing jobs to one where I make substantially less money as I'll have less responsibility and it will put me back at an income level where I'll start to qualify for all tax credits and deductions I can't currently take. Yeah...elections have consequences.
Yeah it's kind of funny but mostly sad when earning less money actually puts more in you pocket...

I couldn't believe what I was seeing... PG-13 warning!
I work PT at the Piggly Wiggly 2 blocks west of Centennial Park and we have homeless and some scum from the Towers next to the park hanging around alot. I caught one whizzing behind the Tennessean paper box 10 ft from our front door and another on the side wall of the liquor store across the street. Disgusting human beings that have no self respect.
I hear ya, at a different job we had a few local transients we'd see on a day to day basis. One day I'm walking in and "Stinky" as we called him is leaning on the bus stop elbow propped on top head in hand grinning like and idiot and happily muttering away to himself. I kind of smiled as I walked by because ole Stinky was pretty much harmless up to that point and as cruel as it may sound his goofy a$$ uses to crack me up. Well anyway I got about parallel to him when I noticed the big puddle growing around him and realized hey! Stinkys pissing on the back of the bus stop! Want to hear the kicker? The bus stop was occupied. The scruffy looking guy sitting noticed right around the same time I did and promptly got up and walked away. Normally that would have warranted some kind of action or response but Stinky was at best "not there" I'm not even sure Casters ammonia mix would have made him even blink. Man working in North Hollywood I've got stories that haunt my sleep involving these guys. -
That's the problem with ARs, once you start looking at all the cool stud to put on one it becomes all too easy to justify having them. I'm keeping mine super basic but have seen at countless YouTube videos where people have spent double the amount of money on accessories as they did on the rifle and the stuff probably doubled the weight. I'd say stick with a small light and the optics and you'd have what you need IMO. Oh I like the mag well grip as well, kind of off topic but anyone know off hand if those count as a fore grip on an AR pistol? <Edit> you know the more I look at it I like it real well as is. I can see the benefit to the laser and you won't lose much weight at all getting rid of it. If you already have a more stripped down carbine I would leave this one alone. Two thumbs up!

Just went out and bought another 2300 rounds of my favorite zombie round aka .22lr Also have another 5 pmags on order. Would have gotten more but just don't have it in the budget right now. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can make a buy on 223 and 762x39. Then get into another thousand 9mm before moving on to more 38s. Then repeat, see where I'm going with this yet?

Never mind my vote, just remembered dads is a p11. My bad.
It has a unique smell to it doesn't it? haha it's still lingering in my truck.
That's one thing I forgot to mention, the smell when you open the box is like walking into a BBQ joint or something.

If its only a first date I don't see why it should even come up in conversation, do you have a pocket gun or something small enough to be sure it won't be seen?
I have stripper clips that work with both my Russian and Norinco SKS. My guess would be that your clips are out of spec and not your rifle.
Yeah highly doubt the rifle is out of spec, more just wondering if the specs or overall tolerance levels change at all by country of origin.
-
Nope clips are SKS clips, unless there's something else out there that uses the same design. The faded one is one of my older milsurp while the blacker one is marked china and just bought at a gun show earlier this year. I tried all twenty that I bought and got about 9 or 10 to fit. Two work fine the others all need an excessive amount of wiggling and pressure to go in. The rest are junk. I think I answered my own question as to why with the made in china stamp. Just disappointing to have them and they're useless to me.
Best to take her to a range where you can rent several different, including a revolver. My daughter has an SP101 .357 which she shoots .38's only. She loves the gun.
This +100. You probably wouldn't want her or anyone else regardless of experience picking out your gun, why presume to do it for someone else? Give her an opportunity to make an educated choice and you and her will both be better off.

I think ammo and mags would be the place to start personaly. A 308 could be usefull but isn't at the top of my list by a long shot. As for the training, I don't see an EOTWAWKI scenario taking place anytime too soon and it will likely be a series of escalating issues if it were to happen at all. One of the steps involves would most likely be a high cap mag ban or other AW ban. Doubtfull there will be a ban on training classes anytime soon. While I do think they're a fine idea, I would make sure to be well stocked before investing in one personaly. After all you actually want to be able to use your firearms training on firearms right? Even the most ignorant person in my family can use a gun on at a rudimentary level and I suspect your already much better off than that. The highest trained person in the world would most likely be forced to duck and cover in a fire fight without having something to engage the enemy.

I think that's the idea that way you know just by glancing at the case which gun it is. Not an issue for me but still pretty neat.

Recently got some new clips for the SKS only to find they don't fit. They seem to be just a bit to big to fit in the groove in the bolt. It's a Russian SKS so I'm wondering maybe are there any rifles built with looser tolerances? Thought about trying to squeeze them some with pliers but that seems like a recipe for disaster. Anyone know what's up with that?

Not just Yanks (am I alloyed to say that being a born and raised Yankee?) Plenty of the same phenomenon happening right here in Tn.
Am grabbing a box of Krispy Kremes and heading to the hills, will be back in 6 or 7 years. Can't believe they actually have a term for that
Six or seven years? You may want to grab a few boxes instead... Hope you don't think things will be much improved by then?
Amazing how the smaller space controls the larger.
It's a matter of quantity over quality. I find it funny that such a large number if people want to live in such a small space.

Suggestions on home defense shotguns
TrickyNicky replied to jwinter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm thinking Runco is meaning that shot placement with a load of buckshot or even slug is less important than with a single hand gun round. That is of course without saying that you still must hit your target. I don't think many here buy into the whole point in the general direction and take out anything in a four foot spread mentality. Of course it's a moot point as OP is talking about a pump gun and everyone knows the very sound of a shell getting loaded into a pump action will scare the pants off even the stupidest hardened criminal and have them running for the hills.(the criminal, not the pants.) <yes sarcasm> -
got my first Mosin Nagant!
Lowers are inbound to D&T Thanks for the info guys!! Now I gotta find the best deals on uppers w/BCG
JoeBobs has a great price on BCG... PSA seems to almost always have some kind of M4 style upper for sale. Might be better off mix&matching for best pricing. -

TrickyNicky replied to musicman's topic in Long Guns
Get your lowers sent to D&T and you have nothing to worry about, Rightwinger and AK guy are top of it. If you got it sent elsewhere you may need to ask them to mark them down as receivers instead of rifles. -

FWIW I would at least consider getting a pistol buffer tube for your lower. You can alway replace it with a stock for a rifle later but at least you have a legal reason to own a sub 16" barrel if you so desire.
