bad day

IMO tnwngr has some of the best advice going. Stay involves with your sport and communicate your desires to your physical therapists to see what they can do. My heart truely goes out to you on the matter, I'm not much a biblical man but brother I will try praying for a healthy if not speedy recovery to get you back out doing what you love. Most important is have patients and don't give up hope. Start making plans NOW for what you'll be doing LATER, stay positive and ends the limit.
2. Looks good from my end. I've heard the threads are aluminum so that would be my only concern but that's the whole lite lineup and not a fault of the gold model. I say if its a shooter and your happy then ya done good.
3.
did and got it nice and shiny though someone on another forum said i shouldnt have used remoil as it has teflon or something in it
Don't know about that, could be true. My thought process was a bit different, I didn't leave a lot of lube inside as oils tend to attract and hold grime and powder and gunk. I just cleaned it real well, sprayed my favorite CLP product and wiped off the excess then reassembled. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? Now that its cleaned up a bit I'd run 10-20 rounds through it and see how it performs. That will let you know how clean the chamber is as well as if you even want to go through the headache of trying to clean the barrel out. IMO if its a shooter and accurate, I wouldn't sweat it beyond cleaning enough that the patches just come out black instead of green. Be sure to take some windex to the range and spray it down the chamber and barrel if shooting corrosive ammo. Clean it as normal when you get home.
4.
I would go center mass. It would be cool if someone on this post could do a little experiment on ballistics and winter clothing. I would love to know how many layers of winter clothing it takes to stop a handgun round. There must be some research already available on the net.
I believe it's been done on boxoftruth.com I think he even froze a few layers of clothes just as a bonus. IIRC this whole conversation is pretty much moot. Heavy winter/leather jackets don't equal out to body armor.
5. I'd say those are about on par with the way I shoot off hand from about maybe say 10-15 yards but from a bench I have to agree with TGODavid, those look loose. Maybe you could find someone with a ransom rest and take the shooter completely out of the equation?
6. Ok I just found my new stocking! Blackvandriver, any info on where to pick one of those up?
7. If you haven't already make sure to strip that good looking bolt. All kinds of nastiness might be built up inside. It's not hard to do and there should be a walk through on YouTube. Well worth the time IMO.
8. The web site for activtec makes the unit sound like an ozone generator. Have your gfs parents call the hvac company and complain about the odor. If the model can't be dialed down or set to cycle on/off they should IMO replace it with something else or possibly add ducting to the unit to give it more length to clean the air and then dissipate before returning to the room. Keep in mind I'm not an hvac guy but I did sell ozone generators for a while at my last job so have a little experience with them. Of course the operative word there being little. What I can say is what I said before, the generators basically create an extra o2 molecule which "attacks" and neutralizes carbon based organic material. Your lungs qualify as carbon based organic material. This is what I remember from a few years ago so I may be incorrect on the o2 but do remember very clearly the our sales rep warning us not to expose ourselves to the powered generators for extended periods.
9. Cool, just post up if you have any problems and I or someone else will get you through it. It's rewarding to see everything nice and clean when it's finished.
10. I used to go in the week but unfortunately I have a new work schedule with only Sundays off. It does get better the worse the weather is though so I guess this Dec-Jan I'll be out more.
11. Maybe I'll skip the wipes and just go straight for the New View... Anything that's got Dolomite this hyped must be good stuff.
12. Looking good. Pay particular attention to the chamber, all kinds of gunk gets in there and if not removed when you shoot it can heat up and bind the bolt making it hard to manipulate.
13. Looks like you all were down at CHMR, stopped by myself and it was PACKED. It's getting uncomfortable to shoot there. got flagged twice by a teenage girl who couldn't stop spinning around every time she hit a target. At least once she had her finger on the trigger... Sorry for the rant, a bit off topic but it bums me out that my favorite place is getting overrun. Back on topic, I like the idea of a piston AR I just can't seem to justify the cost for a conversion kit or a finished prebuilt. Having said that sigbrown has got some extremely desirable appointments on his, all practical no tacticool. It's getting my gears turning in my head for my next build.
14. I've read it a time or two but its always good to have a refresher course thanks.
15. Scrubbers are usually not smelly, wonder If they went all out and installed an ozone generator? They don't smell quite like bleach but do have an odor. It would also make sense to only smell it in a part of the house near the new system. If it is an ozone generator you need to have it either turned down or have a length of ducting added between it and the ducting leading into the house as the ozone is hazardous to your health. It's unlikely that's what's in there but certainly a possibility.
16. Sounds about right. If you have a compressor I would spray down the parts to wash the simple green off then hit them with plenty of air to get the water off then oil. If you haven't tried yet good luck getting your bore clean. I stopped after the patches came out black instead of blue green and yellow. How far is donelson to Nashville? I could probably help you out I you wanted to steam clean it which as I'm sure you've guessed is my preference. A shark steamer is actually a pretty handy thing to have yourself.
17. Good to know. My brother was wanting a bolt gun he could trick out a bit maybe I'll point him in the MVP direction. I'm thinking some nice glass, a bipod and a few pmags and that would be a good little gun. What's the twist rate in those? We can only shoot out to 100 yards at CHMR but it would be nice to know we could launch those heavier rounds out to 400-500.
18. Thanks guys, I'd seen the wipes but wasn't sure they would actually work. Guess I'll pick some up at Wally World until I can get my hand on some New View/Vue. Went out today and was actually ok. Still need something for when its less than dry out though.
19. If your that worried about under penetration due to heavy clothes or jackets switch to another caliber. I know many shooters not one of whom would try taking a headshot on a moving combative target unless absolutely positively neccasery. Especially in any kind of scenario in which a miss on the target equals a potential hit on an innocent bystander. I read a lot about the whole two to the chest one to the head and think that's a crap load of crap as well personaly. There may be one or two instances in which that may be the correct thing to do but it's so highly unlikely I won't train to ingrain it into my head. If they don't drop after two center mass shots we'll see what three or four does to em. If anything I'm probably more likely to try shooting lower than higher, the hips make a much better target than the head and I have a hard time picturing someone continuing any kind of threatening advance with a shattered hip.
20. Well since moving to Tn it seems about half the time I go out shooting I'm hindered by fogging glasses, this wasn't an issue out in the desert but here I even fog up in indoor ranges. There may be I guess something I'm doing wrong as sometimes I can't get more than thre or four shots before I need to step back from the line and wipe off the glasses before coming back and doing some shooting. I've heard all about using everything from spit to soap to keep standard shooting glasses from fogging up on you but haven't had any luck so far. Anyone have any recommendations on a fog resistant spray or even better glasses made of a fog proof material? Any help much appreciated.
21. Love the idea but curios about the execution. From what I remember there is a "flap" on the bolt that comes down as it opens to facilitate striping a round out of the mag. The only thing I'm worried about is if the "flap" were to break would I need a new bolt or could they fix it up or what? Never seen one in person so maybe it's robust enough not to be an issue? Either way I'm thinking the MVP seems like a great idea for a varmint/zombie get rid of er.
22. Forum member less than a year and purchased 4 firearms from vendors, two from members... I'd do business with a TGO vendor over anyone else any day of the week. It doesn't hurt that the vendors service has been second to none.
23. To the best of my knowledge... Nothing.
24. I'm gonna try to remember to give them a call and show some support.
25.
If you are aware of a department destroying functional firearms you need to report that to the state police and your legislator. It is a crime under state law to do so.
I was talking on a national level. Not sure about what any Tn department does.
