1.
Or Glock. *cough* *cough* *start fight*
Bwahahaha! The pot has been stirred!
2. ^^^Haha, you got to be careful around framers, odd sense of humor. "Hey you cut this to short! Go out to my truck and find the lumber stretcher." "What do you mean you can't find the lumber stretcher?! It's the big yellow thing next to the wood magnet!"
3. One is none. Unless its a Ruger revolver.
4. ^^^ This.
5. 1. Yes. It may not be what it was but its still better than an impoverished nation torn apart by civil war. And before anyone can ask the difference, things may not be great but we're still a lot better off than Ireland during the "The troubles" you think the job market is bad now, imagine being black listed by the IRA for joining the English army to fight the Nazis 2. Probably, I'm a man of conviction who stands up for what he believes in. I've been told I would have gotten on well with my great grandpa. 3. Tougher and more rugged? Absolutely. Then again so where the cavemen. Better educated? My grandpa started working at a brewery when he was 8 years old and had left school to provide for his family by age 13 after my great grandad could no longer work. You do the math. Having said that he was an incredibly capable man who did a number of great things and could build or fix ANYTHING. He worked as a millwright and eventually completed his education at a very late age. He was probably smarter than me but not better educated, if that makes any sense.
6.
Sorry, coulldn't resist one more find on another forum ... "Woman came into a gun shop once with a small wheeled cart full of various types of ammunition. Dead serious, she told the guy behind the counter that she'd heard this shop was an "official bullet disposal center" and she wanted to dispose of these bullets. Guy behind the counter was looking at her kinda funny but said "well, okay we can dispose of them for you". Woman says "Good, my husband won't get rid of his damn guns so I'm getting rid of this stuff (the ammo) before somebody gets hurt". (Seriously, she's saying this right in the middle of a gun shop!) Shop keep takes possession of the ammo and asks if she want's a receipt. Woman looks at him like he offered her a dead rat and then walks out the door in a huff, didn't even take the cart. Me n' the store owner just kinda look at each other and he says "well, I think I'm just gonna lock this cart in the back for when the husband shows up". We had a pretty good laugh over that one. (Don't know if the husband showed up. There must have been about $650 in ammo in that cart.)"
That's funny stuff. I worked at a thrift store a long time ago and once got a donation that included a peanut butter jar full of 22s. Of course I called dibs but the manager was apparently anti gun. She said I couldn't have them but asked if I knew a place to dispose of them safely. I said sure I'd handle it figuring I'd just take them and safely dispose of them through my rifle out in the desert. So I get the jar and take them home, the next day the manager says she wants a receipt from wherever I take them...Erm, OK... So I figure fine its not worth loss I g my job over $15 worth of ammo so that night I take them down to the local PD and tell them my sad little story, ask to turn them in and get a 1010 receipt. The cop at the counter just looks at me and laughs and says, tell your boss we took em and can't give a receipt for something like this. If she gets upset have her call officer(can't remember his name) and clear it up with her for ya, have fun with them. This same manager about made my day once on a separate occasion, told me they had received a handgun in a donation a few years ago and still had it in the safe. Asked if I could have it and got turned down she didn't want it "on the streets" but said I could take a look at it. Went into the office and she pulls out.... A Daisy pneumatic BB gun! The old style that looked sort of like a 1911 where the end of the barrel flips open to load either 5-6 bbs or one pellet at a time. I loled but also really wanted it as mine got tossed as a kid for putting a hole in a window.
7. Oops double post.
8.
Without an exact description of the same model rifle that was changed to suit WalMart, I still call urban legend. It would actually cost manufacturer more in time and disruption of process line to make a "cheaper" one. - OS
Yup. I'm thinking total BS.
9. That is looking so freaking cool! I'm going to have to get into one of those things soon.
10. Heard a good one at my old local shop. Guy was comparing a few new pistols, a 45 and a 9mm. I over heard him say something to the effect of "I like the 45 but a friend of mine says the bullets travel to slow and I should stick with the 9mm because they're faster." To which without missing a beat the clerk said " yeah I've heard that a lot, damn criminals outrun those slow poke 45s all the time." On the flip side I've had employees tell me to go ahead and buy 45acp for a Glock chambered in 45gap. No big deal he said, they didn't even stock the gap since it was just so unnessasery.
11. Cool thread. I'll have to get some pictures of the only two I have left. Handy knifes, wish I could carry mine without fear of legal reprocusions.
12. Some pics might help if there are any available...
13.
Finds this thread funny. Keep up the hard work, guys!
There was a point in time when I thought these threads where tounge in cheek and got a good chuckle out of them myself. Unfortunately I've come to realize that some people really do believe this sh&@. Kind of sad really.
14.
Great insights! I was guilty of overlooking some shafting episodes. All episodes surrounded Brian, the primary owner. His brother, Mike, and a number of the employees had a much "cleaner record" in terms of professionalism. Brian seems to think his average customer is either dimwitted and/or lost all rationality when holding their sought after firearm; then he puts on a big smile and applies the "lubricant". He is wise in the sense of keeping a humongous inventory. For some of us, me included, when one is holding their sought after firearm prize it is much easier to gloss over the degree of being shafted. Brian knows that fact VERY WELL! Sorry, I couldn't resist beating the "dead horse" because of still smarting from this past week. I'm just relieved that I kept my cool during the incident and wasn't at my maturity level of 35 years ago. My wife wouldn't bail me out and that's a fact! : )
All I can say friend is, Nashville Armory, D&T, and G&L. If you haven't been yet just go ahead and try any or all of them. You can thank me later.
15.
I wanted a set and got a set,
I think that's all this group needed to hear. We're a support group. We support the the want/need to upgrade and improve just about anything that goes bang.
16. I wasn't going to mess with perfection this year but after reading yours I'd like to get in on the 60lb/500 a month game plan. Two good goals.
17.
He walked away.
Am I the only noticing a trend in the behavior here? It's pretty sad when an employee displays this kind of behavior, its very telling when an owner/manager does it. I'm going to leave this dead horse alone but my parting thoughts are : if you need to rationalize treatment you receive at your LGS, odds are your shopping in the wrong place.
18. Love it! Those would make some awesome T-shirts. I'd wear them with pleasure.
19. Those look pretty neat, am I correct in thinking there is a a trijicon-ish coating on the face of the fiber optics? <EDIT> answered myself. Those look awesome! Let us know how you like them.
20.
I'm not sure what's going on up there. Some of my recent visits have been shall we say less than stellar. I understand dealer vs retail pricing but the "deal" I was offered yesterday was outright attempted robbery. Granted I wanted something rather hard to get and was willing to pay a premium for it I felt like they were trying to break it off in me. I just might be done as well. The funny thing was there was a older guy who walked up as Brian was making his "offer" I said something to the effect of I'd have to be drunk and brain dead to take that deal and the old guy piped in with "damn I told him the same thing" so it's not just us. Perhaps the loss of Useltons has hindered the ability to haggle
I don't know, true enough Useltons is gone but at around the same time Nashville Armory came to town. I'd be surprised if FGS hasn't or doesn't feel the pinch of a quality establishment just down the road. Once NA gets its stock up there will be little or no reason to go anywhere else south of Nashville. Just can't think of single reason to be treated with contempt AND pay over MSRP when I can get treated with respect and pay under it. Maybe I'm crazy and some people like paying more for less?
21. ^^^ That's a cool pic right there.
22.
I suspect the mother and father are in the middle of a custody dispute and the dad saw a chance to stir the pot. Total BS!
I think we have a winner.
23. Those seem like the perfect pair to get someone interested in firearms. They're not "scary" like a modern gun and just look neat. Good job!
24. P95 all the way. I'm a bit biased as a dyed in the wool Ruger fan but still try to be impartial. Ruger has some of THE best CS in the firearm industry, if your P95 has an issue they will make it right, and in a timely manner. My best friend, his dad, and my brother all have a P95 so I've got just a little bit of experience with the model and IMO its by far one of the best values in a gun of its price range.
25.
No, other people created that stuff up......................out of thin air. I looked up and read the articles, and wish I had those minutes of my life back. All I see is people like Alex Jones, Porter Stansberry, and Joseph Farah pushing this tripe. Basically, you have ignorant fool Birthers and 9/11 Truthers concocting yet another conspiracy theory to feed the group of other ignorant fools who follow them. Hell, last year, Stansberry was predicting that Obama would be the end of America, would lead this country to disaster, and there would be destruction and riots. Now he is predicting that Obama will lead this country to unprecedented prosperity that catapult him to a third term. Honestly, I fail to see how anyone with an ounce of intelligence can believe this stuff.
My point exactly. You said it better than I could and for that I thank you. I'm starting to think that some of the detractors are actually secret Obamabots. What better way to have the actual issues glossed over and gone unnoticed than to shove a bunch of attention grabbing crap under everyone's noses?
