Co-worker says it's illegal to have more than 10,000$ on your person?
TrickyNicky replied to timcar86's topic in General Chat
There is paperwork that needs to be filled out by the bank when depositing $10,000 or more, not sure if the same goes for withdrawals or not. As to carrying it, he's full of it. I've known several people who have paid for new vehicles and in one case a .5million dollar home with cash. I've also completed transactions with landscapers for excess of 10,000 where they paid in cash to receive a hefty discount. -
Did LAPD Kill Dorner for $1.1 Million ???
TrickyNicky replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Nothing doing. They didn't kill him at all so far as we know, it appears he killed himself. I also highly doubt that the reward was even a thought in the responding officers minds. He had plenty of opportunity to turn himself in, was given every chance. To say that the LAPD killed him at is misguided and mistaken, they did everything in their power to try and save him from himself. -
L.A. County Gives Gun Permits To Buddies And Donors
TrickyNicky replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There are some good aspects but at this point they do not out weigh the bad, at least for me. The city council is incredibly corrupt, the mayor is a racist, tax wasting idiot. It's been overdeveloped to the point of no return. A buddy of mine from back home asked when I was moving back, not anytime soon. He'd be out here himself it weren't for the differences in pay. He makes really good money in a field that would only pay $15-$20 hourly out here. There may be a time when Ca pulls its head out of its ass and I go back, it most likely wont be back to La though. Having said that, one can easily move an hour and a half away to Kern county up in the Frasier Park area and receive their permit, the chief LEO up there Sherrif Youngblood is good people. Likewise the OC is apparently much easier to get a permit as well, not sure about San Diego, but I doubt it. Probably easier up north in the Emerald Triangle. Humbolt, Trinity, and Uereka. Forget about Frisco and Sacremento. Arg, I'm gonna go play with my non bullet button AR and be glad that I'm alive and in Tennessee. -
Huh? What just happened there?

The Emerald Society and Officer Down are two we've donated to for years in our family. The Emerald Society is pretty cool, especially if your Irish. They've sent pipers to several funeral services of family members. Officer Down doesn't do much in some regards, but they at least so as they claim by creating a memorial for officers fallen in the line of duty. It's kind of hard to go on their page and read more than a few entry's without getting choked up, at least for me.

Anyone know where to find this? Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale
TrickyNicky replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
Only place I know of is a burger joint here in Nashville. Not to helpful considering your location but I can at least affirm that yes, you do want to try this. Delicious. -
Heh, yeah being on TGO is kind of like being in the mob, we're "connected" ;) Maybe we should have a secret handshake?

Ok, I loled. Now I'm still unsure on CL add, just pointing out that kwik is apparently a dealer for Huntertown. It's ok though, I also found out that Nashville Gun Shop is also a dealer. since they are vendors here, that's most likely where I'll go when the time comes.
-
Could be HiPower, could be. Funny enough, I had sent a message to Huntertown Arms regarding local dealers and was very excited when they said there was one in my own backyard. Then I read a bit further and saw it was kwikarms or whatever and almost considered sending an email to warn them of his lunacy. Who ever it was apparently didn't see fit to respond to some very basic questions regarding the position. Little things like, where in Brentwood are you located? What is the name of your shop? Maybe I'm too nosey for a prospective employee?
-
I'm in the same boat myself. I'll let you know what I find as I find it. If you search nashville craigslist it seems there is a gun store in brentwood looking for a cashier. I had sent an email looking for more information but haven't heard back yet...
-
Thank you Runco for keeping us posted on these. I probably would not even enter were it not for your reminders. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Maybe a good idea to limit this posters with a certain number of posts or something? Also, thanks again jtmaze!!

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. ;) Seriously though, you can but it may be more trouble than its worth on that one. Unless you can live with one of those clamp around the barrel deals.

That's what I'm talking about. Ammo is not my barometer, nor ARs. Magazines are. Once pmags get back to $12-$15 and bx25s down to about $25 is when I'll be confident that gun owners can stop fighting each other for commodities and start focusing their efforts on politicians instead.
-
4 kinds of people actually. I've more than doubled my AR mag stash since the scare started, one gentleman here have me 3 Troy mags, 3-4 pmags, and 4 colt mags all for the whopping sum of $90. Same individual practically gave me some 556 since I had non at the time and also let me in on his cmmg 22 conversion for I think another $90. All in all better than pre panic pricing. Another gentleman also sold me 16 boxes of wolf 223 for the Walmart price of 4.50 a box. Totally normal pricing. So there are actually at least 5 different groups, those you have mentioned, those who mocked the panic, and those who completely ignored it all together.

<sarcasm> Well the coke machines aren't really gouging, don't you know it's a free market and we're all responsible for our own purchases? <Sarcasm>

Colion Noir would have been perfect. I'm not in the least surprised he was axed though, Obamas PR team can't have anyone smarter the O who doesn't agree with him on their show. Noir would also ruin a lot of misconceptions that O's team has spent alot of time and money creating. It's a shame too, there's a large portion of the polulation who is significantly under represented that he would be the ideal candidate to speak for. I think a lot of people would be surprised to find out there are well spoken African Americans who are AGAINST Obama and AGAINST gun control. When a lot of people think of black people and guns, well spoken, knowledgable guys like Mr. Noir are not who their thinking of and that's a shame. Oh well can't say I'm surprised, this whole administration and everything they do is a crock of $hit crafted to deceive the morons who lap it up.

And it starts getting better. I do hope all those saps er I mean "investors" are happy with their $2k DPMS ARs, doesn't look like they'll be getting any return on investment. Now, I will say that once AKs fall back down to $400-$500 I'll be sure to try and snag one up. Jumping onto what Mike357 said earlier, if everyone plans on stockpiling as soon as the supply is there, the supply wil never come back. The best way to get your stock up is little by little. You plan on shooting 3 boxes, buy 4 and tuck the other away. Don't plan on doing any shooting, pick up 2 anyway. You'll quickly build up stock and still leave some for the next guy. That's how I roll.

I'd hang on to the mini in your shoes. The panic will die down and when it does you can easily assemble a good AR for around $800+/-
-
Just from what I'm seeing I think we have two things going on. One is that supply is starting to catch up as the market reaches its saturation point. Two is that I think we're already starting to see people either unload their panic buys or trying to get in on the inflated market while it lasts. Either way I'm glad it's starting to look normal again. My benchmark for where things are at doesn't lay in the price of guns or ammo but rather the availability and price of magazines. Once I can go into a shop and buy some pmags for $13-$15 with no limit and some bx25 10/22 mags for $24.95 again I'll be a happy camper.

Trouble chambering a round
TrickyNicky replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
+1 on the 12gauge brush. You can even make life easy for yourself and chuck the rod into a drill. I think what happens in there is a combination of both Cosmo and lacquer getting burned in. Also, as mentioned, the Nagant bolts are not the smoothest out there in the first place and to top it all off it is easy to incorrectly load the magazine with the rims of the rounds locking each other up. Try loading one and see if that's it. -
That's very Calvin and Hobbes of you. I love it.

I think I've found my new iPhone background. Epic.
