Looks like the little brother to my M&P. :) Now I want one, so I can complete the set.

Congrats, is your regular 9-5 cool with you taking the time off or are you going to have to resign? Either way sounds way cool and worth it.

I'm hoping the same thing. I might even have to start going back to gun shows so I can laugh derisively at guys trying to sell $800 DPMS rifles for $1500. Then they'll tell me their just trying to get out of it what they have in it, then I will laugh even harder. Maybe I'll have a tshirt made up for the event, something with P.T Barnum's saying about suckers. Yeah, I'm an $$hole.

This looks like the answer to the question nobody asked IMO. I'd rather take that $200 and buy 200 rounds of Wolf at panic pricing. If I'm going to waste money I might as well be able to at least use what I'm throwing it away on.

Good call, I'll need to look into some 10rounders for my VTAC. I need to go back to Ca to see some friends and family later this year and want to show it off to my shooting buddies over there.

I think it's working for me again. Clearing my browser history did the trick.

Not that I've found as a general rule. Also don't know of any shops that will allow you to correctly utilize a C&R anyway. To the best of my knowledge they'll still want you to fill out your background check and pay the fee. Anyway, half the fun is being able to receive guns through the mail. I love answering my door, receiving my package and opening it to find an old gun. Lots of fun.

The Resistance is beginning...
TrickyNicky replied to jaxjohn419's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think the lineage may be part of the overhead on those, also I'm sure LEA/Government Agency's receive prorates. My "source" for information regarding aviation security had to purchase some after 9/11 and recalled the price at about $10,000 per, just for the trained dogs themselves. Either way even at $5,000 replacing modern tech with trained dogs at a large international airport is neither practical, cost effective, or any combination of the two. Besides, then people would just bitch about the dogs. "I'm allergic" "your dog better not bite me, I'll sue" "your dog stuck its snout in my daughter/grandmas crotch" -
And I just got the hang of using it too. Is this by design or some kind of fluke? It's all good either way just thought it was a useful tool.

We don't know how many times guns tasers or knives get through, its not like there is a kiosk on the other end for you to contribute the fact that youve succesfully amuggled contraband on your flight, if I had to guess I'd say not nearly as often as they get caught. Yes, the job can be done better by private groups IMO, it is however very important for a set of standards to be implemented and not just left up to the discretion of the airlines. And by the way, those nudie pics leave an awful lot to the imagination it's not anything like the X-ray spec type image that most people have conjured up in their minds. Metal detectors and dog are completely useless against some threats, they'd work we'll enough for bombs and metal contraband but would be completely useless against anything not made of metal or in the training for the dogs, the K9s have a limited number of things they can effectively be trained to sniff out. Also just curious, do you have any idea how much those dogs cost? Not only are they very expensive $5,000-$10,000 they are also very expensive to upkeep, plus you have the additional cost of handlers. K9 approved vehicles etc. You'd need many dogs per terminal, they can really only be effective for about 20 minutes of every hour. Plus they only have an average career of 5-7 years. Honestly not as effective and not as economical. Not by a long shot. In fact, not even close at all. As far as the frisking and ball grabbing, I just wish they'd offer opposit sex pat downs, I'm a single so I could use the excitement. -
If the SHTF its little things like some tobacco that will help to keep a little sense of normalcy. Plus it will make excellent barter material for guys like me who for some odd reason only keep a day or twos supply on hand. If the SHTF I'd probably even trade some precious ammo for a few cartons of marlboros. I'm thinking food save bags would probably work well but I'd also be nervous about sealing it too moist, I'd rather have it dry than moldy.

Meh, I'll keep checking mine. It isn't worth the hassle and I'venever needed or really even had the thought that I wished I had one while I was on board.

Star Model B - refinished
TrickyNicky replied to surfcityred's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
That came out looking sharp. The more I look at it the more i like the two tone finish, the grips are beautiful too. Good job! I like my model b but have a lot of problems with double feeds. I've read it has to do with the magazine being designed around the 9mm largo but I don't know. I'm going to put in a new recoil spring in there one of these days and see if the extra tension helps any. I'm guessing yours works ok since you went all out on it? When mine is running right it is a very accurate fun gun. -
Another good find are some makeup removing pads I got from Walmart. I originally picked these up to clean and oil slides and small parts but their just to fiberous, they shed to much leaving fibers on your parts. They work really well for scrubbing out a shotgun barrel though. For a 12gauge I wrap two of them up, spray a little balistol on the front half and insert that end fist into the bore. Then just push them through with a dowel or rod. Probably easier to just get a bore snake but these are disposable so you don't have to clean them later, I just push them out into the trash can and get on with my day.

Primer limit at Lebanon Gun Shop
TrickyNicky replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I agree with Greg, I'd think a case of 1000 would make more sense if there already boxed 1000 to a case. Having said that I probably would have just bout my 500 and went on my way with no hard feelings, provided they're not charging full price for a case and then splitting it on you. -
Where would you shoot.......head or body
TrickyNicky replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Agreed, at the end of the day you'll most likely not have much time to try to pick your shot, just giving a little food for thought that there is no reason to shoot high when there are so many areas center or lower that should stop most any threat. -
Smokin45: the problem is the fine line between liquid courage and liquid stupidity. It's a fine line and gets quickly blurred. LCPfraTn: I have a few I don't shoot, I keep them either for the history or because they came from family. This one has got me really unsure as to if I should add it to the shooting rotation or not, I've hot plenty of guns that get shot a lot, I just don't know yet... No-One: oh man, why'd you have to go and show me that? I'm seriously considering getting a credit card just for that now, I haven't had one in eep, almost a decade. Of course, if I get a pallet of rifles I'll need mucho mucho ammo to along with it. Maybe I can take advantage of the black rifle craze and sell my AR for enough to cover the crate? Lol.

So when I first got my C&R last year I went ahead and ordered 3 91/30 Nagants from AIM. I opened them all up, selected what looked to be the best one(hard to tell under all that cosmoline) and wrapped it back up and re boxed it. Now I still have the other two so its not like I need too, but I'm thinking Bout I boxing the third and cleaning it up to put with the others. What do you guys think? It's not like I need it out, the reason I left it cosmoed and boxed was so that if it needed to be say, buried it wouldn't have much issue. Plus I thought it might be cool to show the grand kids one day what old Russian Cosmo looks like and to have a "fresh one" long after surplus supplies have dried up. I still think that's kind if cool but have been twmpted this week to pull it out and get it cleaned up. What would you do and why?

Where would you shoot.......head or body
TrickyNicky replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That's what I meant by a hip shot. I remember reading an article in I think Police Magazine where a female officer was taken by surprise by a knife wielding assailant. She drew as he closed ground but did not have the time to present the gun to a center mass target as he was already upon her, so as she moved back she dire a lower shot that shattered the perps pelvis and it turned out that was the right shot. He crumpled like a house of cards feet away from her. It is entirely possible that a "correct" COM shot may have ended up with him continuing his assault while he bled out. Having the lower structure of his body taken out there was no way for him to remain upright. -

Haven't been to a gun show since July or so. Even then it didn't take a mathematician to realize there were no deals to be had. Better to scour the TGO classifieds and hell, hit up Guns and Leather or the Nashville Armory. You could get guns brand new for what most people were asking for their crap that had " just a little wear". I do need a jar of crack on a cracker though, do those guys still show up? -
Of course I recall. That was the Ca Nick, deprived of nutrients from eating granola and tofu. The Tn Nick feasts upon country fried steak samiches and drinks country gravy by the quart.
