  1. I don't know, I'm pretty good at justifying things to myself. 9 times out of 10 I agree with myself completely. ;) Those are some awesome rifles, very nice.
  2. Well especially then. I have no idea how much a kit goes for, thought someone mentioned $300? I would still be willing to go $600 if the build is easy enough, I'm guessing recievers aren't too much? Idk, I should probably look all this up one of these days
  3. Pfft, more like camo krylon in my case.
  4. A few questions for the OP, or anyone who knows really. How hard is it to put the kits together? I'm wanting an FAL real bad and with the way pricing is on those this may be my best bet. Is the kit something you assemble with few specialty tools or is it way more complex than that? If its easy to do I'd drop $300.-$400. on a kit in a minute.
  5. 100% in agreement with HiPower. There's no need to pretty up the truth, I'll take the dirty crude truth over a pretty lie any day of the week.
  6. I'd rather see the money go to the Wings than anything else over there. Seems if I had to pick between giving it away to all the welfare cases or giving it to probably the only organization left in Detroit that still has the ability to make money, I'd rather spend it on the guys who actually do SOMETHING with their time other than sit around on the stoop drinking "fowdys". YMMV Lets go Red Wings!!
  7. Staged may be a more appropriate term than fake.
  8. Could be real, just seems like there is more of a "watch this" atmosphere and not one of true menace. Also find it a little odd that two guys beat down the one guy yet he is still coherent enough to talk, seems a real two man beat down would be more effective. Of course two on one fighting does take some skill and training to pull off effectively, not to mention discipline and practice. I don't know, also not uncommon in the rap world for guys or their posses to go make a big stir right around the same time they release an album. When your marketing to gangstas it helps to be a gangsta, have some if your boys go get in some trouble and bam instant street cred for the artist who typically would stay home safe and sound. Plus a bit of free advertising. A year or two later your boys get out, you buy them a Caddy for their troubles and they're back in the posse living the high life. As to the two years in the jail, nothing to it for some tough guys like these.
  9. Looks fake. Either that or thugs who make their livings off of violence and intimidation have no idea how to hand out either. This may sound cocky but I'd love the opertunity to go with any two of those losers.
  10. Well played sir.
  11. Just a quick note on the whole takedown/reassembly thing. Lets be honest, how many other pistols have manuals that recommend the use of a mallet or hammer just to disassemble? And not just to help tap out a few pins either. Yes, it is a PITA comparatively speaking. I can field strip down a Berreta Cougar in about 5 seconds tops, my M&P in less than 10. It takes a few minutes to strip the MKIII. Having said that the great thing about the MK is that it doesn't need real cleaning for many thousands of rounds. My quick clean is a wet patch followed by two dry patches through the bore and a q-tip wet with solvent(balistol) rubbed around in the chamber and bolt face. That's it, and I do this every 1,000 rounds or so. I'm actually going through a phase right now where I'm not cleaning it at all. Of course like most I haven't been shooting much lately so doubt I e had much more than 1k through it with no cleaning.
  12. Welcome from another former Californian!! Tn is great, come check out Nashville. Great airport, minimal traffic for a city, and close enough to whatever makes your socks go up and down.
  13. Love my MKIII. Al it of people don't like the LCI or mag disconnect, I don't care for them personaly but don't care enough one way or another to replace them. One of these days I'll get the VQ kit and do away with the mag disconnect but for the time it takes to clean the LCI (20seconds every 5-10k rounds) ill probably not spend the time and money ditching it. These are very accurate pistols and about as reliable as they get. Mine goes to the range every trip, even if I don't plan on shooting it I bring it because invariably (so far) if I have a round that will not ignite due to a light primer strike or whatever, I feed it to the MKIII and it fires. I've been looking at the 22/45 a bit lately and may scoop one of those up as well it I think everyone should have a regular MK of somekind, its just one of those classic guns that no collection is complete without.
  14. For just a little bit more on the whole Slash thing, he has since then gone through at least 40 different guitar/pickup/amp combos and even stuck with some for awhile, but when we think early G&R we're thinking about a Gibson that wasn't.
  15. [quote name="StPatrick" post="1004211" timestamp="1374538069"]Because he went through about 40 Les Paul / pickup combos before he got that sound, if you're asking a super-literal question. It's something special when you can play an LP through a Marshall and still have an instantly recognizable sound, though his phrasing is a big part of that. One of my favorite players, even when he sits in on crappy songs.[/quote Actually "that sound" was a complete accident. He warped the neck on his BC Rich and the manager if the band at the time showed up with an "old les Paul" that wasn't actually a Les Paul at all but rather a hand built clone know as "the Hunter Burst" while know one knows exactly who built it (or at least wouldn't admit it as of 5 years ago) it is rumored to be a Max or Roman Rist piece. As for the pickups, plain wire, scatter wound over alnico II magnets and you've pretty much got it. ;) Now back on topic, this old boy used to play with Alice Cooper and I personally think had one of the cooler gun guitars.
  16. Once again East_TN_Patriot nails it on the head. I too find it interesting that so many folks on here are so BA. Keep in mind we're talking about a crowd of protesters, not rioters. The fact that for so many "plowing through the mindless liberal zombies" sounds like A logical step is both a little funny and a little sad. Oh and "say for example you were on your way to a game with $1000.00 tickets" give me a break, seriously you'd plow through a crowd just to make the game on time? Would you shoot your way to the front of the line once you got there? Now don't get me wrong, I in no way shape or form condone these kind of actions, there is a right way and wrong way to take to the streets and this is most definitely the wrong way. But come on, are we better than these A-holes or aren't we? Sometimes I have to wonder.
  17. If you really want to blow some liberals minds you can always call it "the frugal gunman".
  18. If I had wheels I'd look like a wagon.
  19. This pretty much nailed it. Regardless of make or model your not going to go into a gun shop and trade your Ruger for a new quality pistol. Where's the incentive to the dealer for making the deal? If you've got a Ruger and wish it was a Glock, take it to a gun show or buy a benefactor status here and list a trade/sale ad. Those are going to be your best bet for getting what you need with minimum out of pocket expense.
  20. You can get one shipped to local dealer...D&T will transfer it for $15.00
  21. What the hell. I'm heading out to CHMR in about an hour, should get there around 1:30-2:00. Same stipulations, must have youngin in tow and ready to shoot. I'm not as flush as I would like to be but I'll bring a 100rbd box of mini mags and a few 22.s to use if needed. Just look for the portly longhair with an ar a sub2k and a bunch of other stuff taking up a whole bench. I'm friendly enough, come on up and introduce yourself, collect whatever supply's you may need, I always have extra eyes and ears and get some shooting in. You can shoot with my group (me,parents) or go down a few lanes or whatever. If you don't have a membership you can be my guest but have to shoot near enough to be part of my group and I believe you have to leave when I do as well.
  22. It depends really. If your talking a trade either way with a dealer it's beyond fair an into the "how do you keep the lights on?" If your talking about a FTF deal then I'd say whoever is parting with the Glock probably should have some boot coming his way. If both parties are happy though I would not say that there is enough of a price difference for any hurt feelings down the road. If I had multiple G19s and really wanted that SR45 I would probably just make the trade. Sure I could probably get another $50-$100 if I first sold my Glock and then bought the Ruger but sometimes its not worth the time. Now keep in mind all this comes from someone with the mindset that since he doesn't NEED another gun he may as well keep what he has and wait to buy what he WANTS.
