  1. Anyone else having problems checking out? I tried several times Friday, several Saturday and again several times today. Each time (on 3different computers so far) I get an error message after putting in my name address city etc. The message is a syntax error JSON.parse: unexpected error. ??? Tried calling them (CMT) and no answer and no voicemail. Starting to kind if freak out a little as 1. I commuted to a purchase and my computer is making a liar out of me. 2. I WANT ONE OF THESE SETS!!! Any advise?
  2. Also far from an expert but it almost looks like the nickle was damaged and then cleaned with a solvent. Only reason I suggest that is because it looks like the edge of the mark has almost a burned look to it. I've seen similar damage on nuckle plated guitar parts but have only speculation as to the cause. My understanding is that a nickle finish is extremely hard to touch up, if it can be done at all, of course I am no expert and no, I did not stay at a Holiday Inn express last night so YMMV. Hopefully someone with some real knowledge will chime in and school is both.
  3. WTF?!
  4. Awesome! Love hearing about a gun friendly business.
  5. Not only no, but a very firm positive F*CK NO!! When I lived in Cali and he was governor, it seemed the one thing that 9/10 folks I knew (and I knew an eclectic bunch to say the least) could agree on was that he was the worst governor EVER. Sadly, if he runs he has a better chance of winning than any other independent. It's pretty jacked up that an action "star" (read : has been) Can and will get more political traction than a man like Ron Paul (remember him?) Sh*t, can we just fall and rebuild already? I'm too young to be too tired of this crap. One last thought, Idiocracy anyone?
  6. Awesome! I actually like the look with the tool marks, reminds me of that Gieger guy who did the Aliens artwork. Plus this reminds me, off to place my order.
  7. Looks like it was well worth the wait.
  8. Ha, my first thought when reading you OP was that I was glad you didn't catch them in the act. Didn't post that because I didn't feel like later explaining that you were way to cool of a dude to spend the rest of your days in jail over a lousy POS thief or thieves. I guess it's out of the bag now though... Really glad they didn't get your weapon and that you and the wifey are safe and sound.
  9. Could also do like that couple from Arizona that were on the preppers show. They turned theirs into a full scale aquaponics garden, it actually looked like that was what it was meant to be all along.
  10. Sam wins. Also expectable would be a Scrooge McDuck costume, though that would require actually diving into said pool to pull off correctly. That might hurt a bit.
  11. Well that kind of sucks. I would let them know just in case there is something wrong on a mass scale, then I'd slap it on the rifle and do my best to make the rest of it look as worn.
  12. Damn.
  13. It's funny, Obama wants me to give up MY guns yet he won't put his blame thrower down for a minute.
  14.   I've noticed a lot of guys going with those, seems pretty solid and no thrills which I like. Definetly a strong candidate.      The toes have been through worse ;) . I hear you on the collapsible stock thing, I like em too. Just with this one I guess I want something a bit different. A very stable long range rifle built for bench shooting, but able to handle more if nessacery. I might try the MOE fixed carbine stock, that way I get a fixed stock, but if I ever want to swap to a collapsible model it would be pretty easy since the fixed moe uses a carbine tube.   Thanks buddy, I'm excited as this is my first "build". On my last one I just bought a complete upper and lower and threw them together, really more of an assembly. It's fun picking parts, not as much when you finally decide what you want and then its out of stock. Luckily that was the case with the barrel, I was looking at a DPMS 20" but the specs weren't quite what I wanted. After deciding to settle anyway it was already out of stock. As luck would have it, someone else had made an inquiry on barrels and Dolomite posted a few links, one of them was exactly what I wanted. $70.00 more than the DPMS but exactly to the specs I was looking for.   Thanks LagerHead. I try to be only practical but when there are so many sharp looking options out there that all seem to function about the same, sometimes style takes over. Additionally I have no idea if the fancy gas tube was worth the up charge, I figured since its black it will look sharp though, that was my motivation and my justification was "meh, its only $3.00 more" maybe that fancy tube will turn out to be a good move though, I don't know. I'll be honest, I love my M4gery. This new one isn't something I think I need, heck the carbine is already more accurate than I am, I just really wanted to build another rifle and thought a long range AR sounded fun.
  15. Oh, not sure what stock to go with on this one, I'm thinking that a non adjustable model would be the best, doesn't have to collapse as this one is to heavy for kids and the like anyway. It doesn't need to be adaptable, it just needs to fit ME and be comfy. For the optic I'm thinking ultimately I may go with one of the bushnell AR series and maybe a PEPR (sp?) QD mount. I don't know, I need to do some research I guess.
  16. So I've been buying some parts here and there to build my second AR and just got most of what I need to finish it off. Still needs optics and mounts, maybe a bipod, but close so far. I went a little over my budget on this one but I got what seem to be some pretty great components. NFA polymer lower. Some love em, some hate em. I like mine fine especially for range toys. Mystery BCG charging handle and Upper. Bought these from a vendor here and have no idea who made them TBH. Magpul BUIS. YHM smooth free float forearm, rifle length. JP Enterprises low profile adjustable gas block. WMD nitromet gas tube. AR Stoner 20" 1/8 heavy fluted barrel with 5R rifling. I haven't really built it yet but did put a few things together for a crappy cell phone pic. Let me know what you all think of my choices for parts, I'm curious for some feedback from those more knowledgable than myself.
  17. Word for word I feel the same. If directed at me, please don't think I'm trying to judge your moral character based on my post, that's not it at all. Unless you DID intentionally hose the seller, which I don't think you did, at least based on what we've heard I've no reason to think so. :) I've had some great scores myself, I picked up a 1969 Gibson SG Special a few years ago for $400.00 go check em out on eBay and you'll see they go for (or at least did at the time) $3,000.00+ in good shape. I don't feel the least bit bad as in my case I DID know the POTENTIAL value, I also knew roughly how much time and money it would take to get my example up to even close to that value again. In my case the seller knew practically nothing about it, even that it had been through a series of (to me) very noticeable repairs. Once I pointed them out he saw them, but he claimed ignorance to any prior knowledge. I told the seller flat out that I was not interested in it at the selling price, once I had seen the damage. He wanted $800.00 because even he knew it was "rough" but once I saw all the work that needed to be put into it, it was still a pretty fair price but I wasn't buying as it went beyond my ability to DIY so that means paying a pro to do their magic. Any way, long story short I pointed out the reasons that I wouldn't buy it after inspection and he asked me to make an offer, I don't want to have much more than $2,000. Sunk in it so I said $400.00 he ended up agreeing and I "stole" a vintage American classic. Luckily I know one of the top SG repairman/ghost builders in the am/pro circuit and will one day have it fixed up nice and proper. Then on to finding and funding period correct parts to replace all the broken missing ones. So all in all that's a long winded way of saying there's no judgment on my end, like it says above I KNEW the value of that guitar, I also knew the value of the work required to see a ROI should I sell it. It all worked out. It sounds like you DiDNT know the value on these particular models but took a gamble anyway, your gamble payed off. Nothing wrong with any of that. :)
  18. Wow, even cheaper than Academy. What a bunch of two faced pr/cks. I hope they choke on those 500rnd cases.
  19. I love Uncle Ted and all, and usually he's at least about half right on things, still no way I'd vote for him. Although these days it seems like we have less and less to lose, I can sadly see there may be one day where it wouldn't hurt, doubt it would ever help, but maybe not hurt. I can say that if the country is going over the edge and turning into a 3rd world $hit hole, I'd rather our president make absolutely no bones about it that even in our weakest moment our country will NOT tolerate any sort of land invasion or needless meddling from other countries. At least with Ted the message would be clear, "try screwing with America and we'll have a rifle behind every blade of grass, we'll fight to the last man, and we WILL rise up again to seek vengeance on any foolish enough to try putting the screw to us in our dark hour."
  20. I've got a simple principal I like to follow in these situations. It's not my job/responsibility/duty to make sure every person knows exact value for an item they are selling. Now I won't try to BS or talk down a seller to a price that is under value. In fact I'll even tell them that with time and effort they could likely get more, but I'm paying cash today, no effort. In my experience most people who won't even take the time to find a value for their items don't like the sound of time and effort. They'll take the easy cash. I say as long as you weren't being flat out dishonest you've got no issues grabbing some desirable pieces at a fantastic price. IMHO.
  21. Hey! My manly tail is longer than hers, next you'll be saying its time to shave! I have to call it a manly tail thanks to the bro-neys.
  22. Love it.
  23. You got hosed. I'll be a nice guy and give you $250.00 for the lot. But seriously, great score. I never do seem to find deals quite as good as this. Assuming you had none before, in one swoop you've acquired an enviable rimfire collection. I'm very jealous right now.
  24. You have a carry permit and they didn't go over this in your class? I guess it IS a carry permit class, not an all out legal seminar but I still would imagine this would be covered in there somewhere?
  25. I run a somewhat similar configuration and love it. Yours looks great too. In fact I think the only difference is that I have a polymer lower and don't have a fore grip. I may have to change that...
