1. I finnaly bought a good light I think it is a g2 130 lumans with a photo battery. I have never used a light like so what did I do. Yes I did, I looked right into bright. WOW I couldn't see the TV for half hour. I have a dog and he has given me 14 years of great care but he is blind now so I clear the room for him now if needed. I now have my 2nd gun hidden in a different location. I have also installed a light switch so the kitchen light can be turned on without going into the room first. The next time something goes bump in the night I feel I will be better able to deal with it. Their is a better feeling of self that goes along with practice for what you may need to do. Thanks again for the remarks.
2.
Ok, I am going to do a bigger analysis of this, later. Several things, Mitt even stated these issues. Lets start with "voting blocks." This term is used to describe certain voters with similar aspects, such as race, creed, sex, income, or age. Several of these blocks, the Young vote, the African American vote, the Hispanic vote, and Women voters are the crucial ones which voted for Obama, and against Romney. The GOP's stance on several points harmed the party with these voting blocks. Young vote: Gay marriage, stance on marijauna, Religious Right. War mongering. In the eyes of the younger generation, they see sexual issues very differently than those 35+. In my experience, coming "out of the closet," or even professing the want to get a sex change, would have led to major conflicts, and rage, when I was young. Not so with them. They actively support those who come out with these sexual issues. They act as if it is no big deal. The blocking of marriage rights for gays, and their right to fight for this nation, harmed the GOP here. Marijauna and other "recreational" drugs have a different view in this generation, than with the older ones. We had been told these things are extremely bad, and dangerous, and, particularly the case with marijuana, recreational drugs were "gateway" drugs to worse things. Yet, the younger generation has grown up with these recreational drugs done by their parents, and friends. They do not see the point on being hard against these drugs, and favor making them legal. This is something the present GOP opposes. Religous Right: Most young are not as "up tight" or stress over religous differences. They are more tolerant (and in many cases, IMHO, for the betterment of Christianity) than the older generations, and they do not see the need to push for things like prayer in schools. They see the Religious Right as a negative. And the GOP? Yes, they cater to the Religious Right. War mongering: Correct perception or not, GOP candidates are seen as war hawks by the younger population. The younger population sees little benefit coming from wars, as they have seen the ample coverage of the Iraq and Afghan conflicts. They look at these conflicts as absurd at best, but basically huge waste of lives. And they remember, it was a GOP President pushing for these wars. The African American vote (IMHO, a misnomer, should be American of African desent, as the culture is not African.) This vote, in the hugest form of irony, has been lost by the GOP, the party of Abe Lincoln. How did this happen? The Dems figured out, during the 1960's, the freedom movement would benefit them in the future. The GOP did not respond to the movement as well. And now, in the eyes of this community, the GOP are for the Whites only. A good piece of work by the Dems to go from the anti-rights party to the defender of the African Americans. True, this is not the biggest of the voting blocks, but 12-14% helps in tight elections. Hispanic vote: Hispanics, by most aspects, Deeply religious, supportive of the sanctity of marriage, etc., smacks of a voting block primed for the GOP. But, the GOP has stumbled by always looking like the Anti- Hispanic immigration party. This, plus the viewpoint the GOP, thru the blocking of the Dream Act, and supporting the aspects of "papers please" laws, alienated the Hispanic vote. Again, the GOP reinforced the viewpoint they are the "Whites Only" party. Mitt pointed this out on several occasions, claiming if the GOP loses the Hispanic voting block, they have lost the future elections. Considering the size of, and the speed of which this size is growing, the Hispanic voting block will be crucial in future elections. Women voters: This block is still growing in impact as more women see elections impacting their health, well being, and their family's health and well being. For a politcal party claiming to be for less government invervention, it is surprising how much more governing the GOP wants over women's vaginas. Here, the pandering to the Religous Right has pushed women voters towards the Dems. In addition, the lack of support for the Lilly Ledbetter Act, and equal pay for equal work, damaged the GOP further. This reinforced the view the GOP is for not only Whites, but only White males. Attempting to remove the Planned Parenthood funding also damaged the GOP here. 98%+ of the Planned Parenthood funds have ZERO to do with abortions. Of the less than 2% dealing with the topic, the majority, 75%+, goes to counciling, which typically prevents the abortion. The 98% goes towards women's health, such as cancer screenings, medical treatments, and other health programs to the benefit of women. And ZERO of the federal funding goes to anything abortion related. In the eyes of many female voters, this action, plus additional laws cutting health care for women, is dangerous. Going after Planned Parenthood is a bad politcal move for the GOP. Arguably, going after Big Bird, and NPT, fits here, as it is a family issue, and parents rely on these educational services for their children, an anti-family stance which may have hurt the GOP with women. If you look at the perceptions of the GOP, from the views of these voter blocks, it is no wonder Mitt lost. Add the fact Mitt alienated the likes of Ron Paul supporters (who are a block of active voters, too) in his own party, and yes, Mitt lost.
well put
3.
Nah, you're just too close to Big Rock.
Really close.
4. welcome I too am from close to clarksville. If or when you get slamed for a post don't back down, heated topics are here and I have learned from this fourm, even from the post I make when folks disagree. We have good mods and I believe most members are happy we can state our feelings. There is a bunch of smart people here.
5. you may be in trouble with her if you wait. don't keep it from her.
6. again maybe I am wrong but if a store takes your money before they do the check they should be turned in because they have broken the law. That's why the check is law to make sure you are allowed to buy. Returning you money is just proff they broke the law. When they take your money you have bought a gun.
7. I don't know the answers but here is what I believe. The reason this country is in trouble and will fail is because a democery can never work. It never has and never will. It's just like play the board game monopoly. you play until someone has it all. Have you ever noticed in the game that the more one player get's the easer it is to get more and more and the faster they get more.
8.
its Bush's Fault Obama Quadrupled the debt??
You are wrong. almost all the money we owe is from Bush. He started with no debt he had extra and wasted that also.
9. I can't understand why so many seems to have forgotten who got us in this mess and as some say who brought us to our knees. Hint Hint it was not the dems. It was 8 years of the GOP. It will take some time before we recover as the top nation in the world. And if we don't stop giving away our money and start taking care of our own we will never get there.
10. good girl. sorry for your loss.
11. I am finished with the topic. I don't hold anything against anyone here. It is not a personal issue with me it is a teaching issue. You may teach in any manner you wish. I will do the same.
12.
I'm curious why you carry a firearm if you feel that corporal punishment as manifested in a "spanking" is morally wrong.
There is a big difference between protecting my family and spanking a child. I don't spank and my grown children don't spank but I will shoot at the drop of a hat to protect mine.
13.
I think it has become obvious as this point that you don't have children. I am going to politely request that you STFU. Maybe when you can pull your head out of you rectum, you will realize that the world operates on different frequencies for many different reasons. I am sorry that you feel the need to attempt to belittle or insinuate that we are all poor parents because you don't understand where we come from. Maybe you can find it in yourself to go and volunteer at some shelters for children without parents, or for those who have been taken away from their parents. Maybe then you will be able to understand the difference between discipline and abuse. Maybe go to a prison and perform a study and see how many there were raised without rules, with parents who weren't there, or those that were and they tried to 'reason' with their child as they grew. But frankly, until you live a week in a parent shoes, I want you to keep your ignorant tree hugging liberal opinions to yourself. Or at the very least not use me as an example when you get on your flawed and jaded soapbox.
You know so little. I can say what I want you also can. there is no need for the nasty reply. I have children grown with their own children and they don't spank or hit their kids as I did not. I fell hitting or spanking a child is done by some because they haven't learned to get their way in any other manner. I know you won't like this but maybe I have a more inlighten brain. For you to berate me because I taught my children without hitting or spanking is really sad. I am just saying maybe you believe in spanking because you don't see another way. This is for anyone. To spank just because you were spanked doesn't mean it is just. By the way I never said anyone was a bad parent. I know plenty of folks that spank their children and I don't hold it against them so let's not hold it against me because I used other means.
14.
So discipline shouldn't be enforced on anyone until they're 20 or so? That may be the most asinine thing I've ever read.
I can't believe how many think discpline is hitting or spanking. My god I can teach a dog how to behave without hitting and children are much smarter. If your child tears pages from a book then that child is not ready for a book, just take it away until you can teach the child how to handle a book. When a child acts up find out why and change that. Don't change the child by hitting. When it gets to the point that you must hit a child to make them act as you want then maybe it is the spanker that needs some learning
15. we will not be changing presidents so there is nothing to worry about. It may not even be close.
16. spanking is hiting. And most of you believe in it because you were hit or spanked. You are hitting someone who has a brain that is not yet developed fully and it doesn't until about age 20 or so.
17. You may come up with several reasons to hit children but the simple fact is children grow to be adults. when you hit children you are teaching an adult it is OK to hit others. Hitting children is against the law in this country as far as I know. If I am wrong then it should be.
18. sounds great but distance may be a problem.
19. I fell sorry for folks that think they are doing good by employing violence. What do you think you are teaching by hitting another human. Never hit children. Never hit anyone unless it's for self defence.
20. hope all goes well
21. may be a play wound from last year.
22. Thanks for all the posting , Talking about it is helping. I didn't get my mom involved because she is 80 and I did not want her to worry, but I now believe my thinking is wrong. Because of her age maybe she should be more involved. I like Glocks and she knows nothing about guns so I bought a g26 for her to keep in the kitchen. All she has to do is point and pull. How many times have you herd this. All the sudden it doesn't sound to smart. I believe some training for mom would help her overcome that scary feeling she has when the word gun is spoken. I have written the names of several lights and will look at others. My mom has been out of state for some time and when she gets back we will go to work I'll make some fun out of it if possable. We have a big house for two. living room is 30 by 50 with 5 bedrooms big separte kitchen and family area room 60 feet long at rear of house and basement.. Lots to clear. I will practice but I am thinking I should get mom safe and hold up for police. Thanks again for the help.
23. This is..........BEAUTY..........I will be checking out your site.
24. Last night I taught and learned. Had to clear my home. I heard something in the basement or kitchen.I grabed my glock and started to go but thought If I move now I will be leving a load glock here for the bad guy so now I have two guns. It was dark so my thought turned to light. I grabed what many of us have around, basic metal mini light. I have had this light for many years and never thought I would need something different. Man.....O.....Man was I wrong. As I started to walk the house I wondered how I put so little thought in something so important. My mini shined where I pointed and there was no light anywhere else. I couldn't flood a room and that would have helped so much. It was scary to think the bad guy had me lighting his target for him. At this time I was scared and after all this time the fact that I was scared, scared me even more. Heck I'm 60 and have been in some very bad places but last night felt really bad. All turned out OK. No bad guy. Last night really made me think. It never dawned on me to do a run through. So I did, several times using different routes. This made me feel more ready and after dark I did the run through with different lighting even total dark except for my mini light.. I also learned quickly that two guns are not always a good thing. I had on thin shorts with no pockets. so no place for second gun except hands and they were needed. I always hope I am not sounding silly. It seems I never stop recovering from stroke. I am sure I should have learned more that I did so please jump in with what you see. I know I need to do something about a good light, hopefully It won't break the bank. I know I need to explorer ways to always be armed. LOL. Just saw myself with baby glock hanging around neck. Kidding but do need to always be holding. Maybe we get to use to what we have .I know I Did. We should practice with what we have at the very least think of what we would do with what we have.
25. Don't know we are doing for sure so I'll watch and play along.....sounds fun to me. I AM IN...............
