  1. Just kidding on the RG. Some at this age don't understand the sentiment that goes with a hand me down and fail to care for it as you would like or trade it for something else they think is cool. Your son may not be one of those, but I fear my son might be. I would say a Smith revolver to promote proper grip and shooting skills, as well as being lifetime weapon he could one day pass on. A 686 no key would be awesome.
  2. Doggone it, I knew I would forget a demographic in there somewhere.
  3. Very Interesting.
  4. I'll refrain from any attempt at a humorous comment due to the risk of offending any race, species, culture, orientation, style, long hair, short hair, no hair, heavy, medium, thin, tall medium, short, conservative, liberal, independent, northerner, southerner, westerner, easterner, immigrant (from anywhere), alien (cosmically speaking), law abiding, law breaking, politically correct, religious, atheist, agnostic, gender, transgender ( hey animals can have orientation issues as well, at least if my Boston Terrier is any indication) etc.
  5. Excellent video, well presented.
  6. Has anyone tried the traditions Rawhide or other model single action center fire or rimfire revolvers? I am thinking of trying them out and just curious if any TGOers have tried them.
  7. Unfortunately I don't shoot as much as I want to now, because I want plenty of ammo on hand for when I have to...hard times.
  8. I never bought anything from Academy...never will.
  9. Yep, Bobcat. I have had one patrolling my back yard for the last week or so that we have seen about three times. Once he was stalking my Boston Terrier until my daughter intervened. We have had wild turkey in the yard on and off for the last two weeks. I think the spring hatch is what has drawn him in so close.
  10. They are very versatile and useful. The only thing I would add is make sure you get it as level as possible. When first set the doors will work fine but if not on level ground, over time they can flex and make the doors very hard to open and close.
  11. Spanky and the gang goes to war :bowrofl:
  12. Congratulations!  and JAB I am totally impressed that you or anybody could spell Sauerbraten, Weiner Schnitzel and Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, or at least I think you spelled it correctly, I sure wouldn't know.
  13. Does she have a sister?
  14. There's a country song about that already,,,"What was I thinkin' "
  15. For that many roses he could have skipped the flowers, bought two guns, and taken the heat.
  16. :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :biglol:  :biglol:
  17. Yep, back when I had some time.  I shot for a period of time with the Smokey Mountain Shootist Society.  About the time they moved to ORSA in Oak Ridge for their matches was when life got too busy to continue the matches.  I met a lot of great folks and absolutely enjoyed each match.  They welcome folks who just want to come watch to see if you might be interested.  I recommend you go check out a match and meet the folks.  They're good people.
  18. For that drop the stringers need to be 4 step then they will mount to face of deck and top step will be same level as deck surface
  19. However many stringers you get, get a cap block for each one.  Set a cap block under each stringer and lay a level across them.  Dig out as needed until level.  Try to have the top surface of the cap blocks at least an inch above grade.  This will give your stringers/steps a solid and level base and allow water to drain off and away from your stringers.  From the pic it looks like  3 pressure treated stringers, 3 cap blocks, and some pressure treated 5/8 deck boards.
  20. I'm impressed as well...I would be even more impressed if your friend has what it goes to in the backyard. :D
  21. Craftsmanship is something you don't see as often these days.  These guys are Craftsmen in every sense of the word.  That is beautiful work on both.  The craftsmen should be proud of what they created and I am sure you are proud to own the rig.
  22. I currently have four TRS-25s mounted in use and one waiting to be mounted on something.  I have been pleased with all of them so far.  For absolute co-witness with MBUS I use UTG medium risers.  The tall riser will give you lower 1/3 co-witness.  You can get UTG risers very cheaply on Amazon.
  23. I just installed a panel interlock plate in my breaker panel.  That way you throw the main, slide the plate and switch on the generator breaker.  You can then power any circuit in the house that you want to without worrying about back feed on the generator or back feed to the main which could fry a lineman.  This is a good safe way to have plenty of options as to where you direct power.  The breaker for the generator input is run to an exterior weather proof box on the porch.   The design of the interlock plate is such that you cannot put power from the generator into the panel until you have disconnected the main from the utility pole.  This is quite a bit cheaper than a transfer switch and panel and it allows you to still be able to direct power anywhere in the home.  You can get the interlock plates for your breaker panel at Lowes or Home Depot.
