If LEOs enter a query into NCIS or TCIS and it comes back as stolen, they have to answer as to how they came by the number entered and where is the item this number belongs to. This applies to any stolen item be it a car, gun, electronic etc. Only makes sense they would want to have it in possession or available in the event of a hit. I agree, I would get it checked before purchase.

...and nobody showing up either.

Man saves 2 babies from being drowned. By their father.
tacops replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Any death by the hand of another will be investigated. If this is in fact what happened without some other twist, the neighbor should be commended for taking action and it should be classed as a "justifiable" homicide once the investigation is completed and the criminal case closed. I can understand the D.A. being non-committal until the investigation is concluded. I only hope that the decision as to charges or not is based on sound legal principle and not politics. -
"Have to have now" magazines and ammo in safe with weapons. The rest I put in military ammo cans labeled by caliber and placed on end inside a large "Job Box" that I wired a dry rod into in addition to a dehumidifier. And then there is more here and there just in case. No wheels on the box so you need to make sure it is where you want it the first time.

Maryville Walmart .22 (3 box limit removed)
tacops replied to Static_USMC's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I was at G&G in Kingston last week and they had all kinds of .22 ammo and plenty of it at good prices. It was all I could do not to add it to my pile before I got out of there. I just really did not need it. -
I'm sure once he gets there and they find out why, he will fulfill several dreams.

Well...Ok, I guess...but no dancin'.

4 extra magazines for my Bersa Thunders and lots of assorted ammo. Not near as exciting as the above posts, but still related. That model 19 is SWWEEEETT!

I too am considering this same question...my daughter just completed her bachelors degree and will be moving to Birmingham to pursue her Doctorate over the next 3-4 years. She will have an apartment on the south side in the Homewood area. It is not so much her I worry about but guests in her home that may not have had the exposure she has with weapons.

I went looking for a Bersa Combat Thunder Plus .380. I found a Thunder with pink Crimson Trace grips and figured my wife would like it. Next to it was a Thunder Combat but not the plus. I bought them both. I went home and shot them quite a bit and loved them. Very accurate, smooth triggers and functioned without flaws. A week later an ad popped up on Armslist for two Bersa Thunders, one new in box and the other shot very little with Bianchi holsters at a very good price. I bought them too. I now have 4 Bersa Thunders, love all of them, and am still looking for a Thunder Plus in .380 and will probably end up buying a Thunder in .22 as well. I have been very impressed with the weapon and the price point is a bonus.

I must be about 20 years older than you guys. I came from a small (pop 727) Arkansas town that closed school the first week of deer season each year. Teachers and students were all in the woods at deer camp, including the Principal. I'm an Old Man that came from a different time in America...and I want to go back.

In 1972, as a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and a Senior in Conway High School, in Conway Arkansas my brother was awarded the American Farmer Award. The banquet and awards ceremony was held in the school cafeteria. He was presented with a Model 94 Winchester 30-30 with a color case hardened receiver and saddle ring. I'm betting you won't see that today.

She originally accepted UK's generous offer and was all set to go this fall. Partially because of their top 5 ranking in addition to us having family in Lexington. She was not fond of the campus being in downtown and having to park far away and walk or catch a shuttle to the campus. She changed her mind and chose Samford for the smaller campus atmosphere, mission opportunities and general atmosphere. I wish I had never watched the movie "Taken".

She visited several, applied to five, accepted at all she applied and was offered various amounts of scholarship from each. Samford in Alabama and U. of Kentucky offered the most which was equal to about half of over all tuition. That still leaves books, apartment rental, furnishings, utilities, food etc. She is going to pursue additional outside scholarships and grants as located. The rest will be student loans and Dad's pocket. I just bought a bedroom suit today for the journey to Birmingham and added it to the growing stack in my garage/shop. South College in Knoxville would have been virtually free in comparison and she could have lived at home. Although it is a good Pharm School to my knowledge, it is young yet and it does not carry the resume weight of Samford or UK. I think what bothers me the most is a 4 hour response time if my "little girl" needs me. It's a Dad thing.

34 ACT and top 2 percent nationally on her PCAT and graduating from University of the Cumberlands with a Degree in Chemistry and Microbiology with Honors and a 3.8 or 9 GPA. She attended Cumberlands at no cost due to both academic and basketball scholarships. Not sure where she got the smarts, kind of makes me wonder what my wife was up to 21 years ago. She is going to attend McWhorter School of Pharmacy for a Doctorate in Pharmacy. She did get a scholarship but it is only a fraction of the overall costs.

In that I don't have a clue as to the details of this event, or how the investigative procedure is structured in South Carolina, I was simply responding in abstract as to situations involving homeowners taking defensive actions. When a homeowner is in fact being victimized by some perp, and investigating authorities make some statement in support of the homeowners actions, it can be quite comforting to the the homeowner/victim. Typically, in Tennessee, if a preliminary statement is made it would be made by the Chief Law Enforcement agent conducting the investigation. In some areas other than here, the Coroner carries much more weight and often includes a Coroners inquest. I would not expect such a public statement from a Coroner in Tennessee with our investigative / judicial structure. Again, that is under the assumption that the homeowner is in fact an innocent random victim, which may or may not be the case in this specific event.

Typically, (except during the Obama administration) the DA would make the ultimate decision to prosecute and what charges if any. But it never hurts when someone in the system puts out an early public statement in support of the homeowners actions.
