I must be an underachiever, I have no broken down cars or school buses. Not even any broken appliances on the porch. I must try harder.

I wish my bank account filled up as fast as the laundry hamper and trash can.

My 21 year old daughter moved to Birmingham last year and I went through similar father worries. Yet, my daughter has no reservations about having a weapon, has her carry permit and is proficient. She has pepper spray on her key ring, knows how to throw a wicked punch, and I bought her three cans of wasp/hornet spray that will spray to 30 feet. She has one can in the bathroom, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom all at easy reach. This stuff is better than pepper spray in some ways.

Manchurian Candidate...Ok, Ok, and no I don't wear a tin foil hat. It was just the first thought that came to mind when I saw the news report. Kind of like word association.

What he said.

Bersa, I really hate to hear the aggravation this causes, but it sounds like life may be better in the future by making the move. Not to mention, if your daughter is a good cook you may score a home cooked meal once in a while that you don't have to cook.

I have a full head of thick hair that once was dark brown. It went to white in my mid 30's. I blame my wife but fact is all the men in my family gray out or white out at an early age.

I just realized that if they could figure out a way to transplant ear hair to the scalp, every guy over 55 would look like Joe Dirt in about two weeks...just sayin'.

I just watched this to completion...Killer Mike is welcome to share a cold beer and conversation in my garage anytime. I don't extend that option to very many people.

I have a Sub-2000 and a Marlin Camp 9. I really like both of them. I plan to get a PSA 9mm Carbine if I can ever sort out what is what with them. I can't seem to figure out which upper goes with what lower by the descriptions.

Remington has been losing ground for a long time now. Even during the recent period (Obama Years) of an astronomical volume of firearm sales. Yet your leftist media is reporting it as though it is the result of recent pressure/events of anti-gunners. They will cheer as though they accomplished something and those in the middle will know no different.

I wonder if I paid for one year memberships for say, Anti-Gun groups (You name the group), ACLU, etc. and supplied local office or home office addresses to receive the magazines and of course complimentary caps or duffel, if it would help toward educating them as to the realities of gun ownership and the 2nd Amendment.

I just bought three 5 year memberships for family members to NRA and donated to the GOA and NRA-ILA

45 years ago my Dad and I were changing out a water heater that was in a closet of his home. While doing this I bumped into the paneling behind the water heater and noticed that it released and one side popped out about an inch. I told my Dad and he explained that it was time to tell me that one day "they" are going to come for our guns and he didn't plan for them to have them. He didn't have many, just your basic rifle, shotgun, and .22 rifle that he kept in a gun cabinet in the den. I don't know that he ever owned a handgun. He doubted that it would happen in his lifetime but felt it may well be in mine, or certainly in my kids lifetime and he planned to leave something behind that they would not be able to get later. I also remember my Grandpa stating that "they" will do in America what Hitler did to the German people some day because "people in power fear those who aren't". My Dad and Grandpa were not avid shooters, they just kept the basic weapons needed for hunting and the occasional bump in the night. They were both honest, hard working, Americans who clung to both their guns and religion and believed in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Ten Commandments as written. These men passed to me the family name with a reputation of honesty and decency, it's my job to keep it that way, pass it to my son and instill in him the desire to pass it to his children in the same form. I expect my Dad was right, as usual.

I have worn shoulder rigs a great deal over the years. I personally have never cared for IWB holsters although I have tried. I like leather, I'm Ol' School I guess. I never cared for ankle rigs. I have several OWB high ride holsters that I like when appropriate but since you asked about shoulder rigs, I'll share my preference. I have Galco, Bianchi, and Vega shoulder rigs that I like very well. All of mine are horizontal holsters with the exception of the Bianchi X-15 for large frame revolvers which is vertical. One of my favorites that is no longer made but can be found used is the Bianchi 9R-1 designed for small revolvers. It is a bottom drop design that I really like for my Colt Detective Special. It can be worn as a shoulder rig or removed from harness and worn on belt. My first Galco was the Miami Classic I purchased in the 80s and is still in service. It has a double mag pouch that offsets the weight of the weapon, as do most of those mentioned. I have several of these for different weapons, although the design is the same I think they may have a different name now. I recently found the Vega holsters that also offer multi use designs in that one shoulder rig can be used for OWB, LB, or Shoulder carry. I have been very pleased with Vega and one of these is a go to rig for carrying my Bersa thunder. Historically I have been a big Bianchi fan but over the years it seems that their quality has dropped. Now when I seek Bianchi I tend to hit Ebay and holster bins in local shops and try to find the older manufactured goods. Avoid nylon rigs and save yourself the disappointment. That is probably a whole lot more than you wanted to read, sorry, I got on a roll.

Welcome to Tennessee. I to am retired Law Enforcement with my full career right here in East Tennessee. I went with the HCP as opposed to jumping through the hoops of the retired officer carry.

I spent years rolling around on the ground in the gravel working on cars and said if I ever was able I would build a shop I could work in. I now have it and have the tools to do the work, but somehow the beer fridge, stereo and television seems to capture my attention more than anything.

No shop is ever large enough. I built a 30x40 with 10' ceiling so not to bump out an engine hoist. Self-supporting trusses so not to have any support posts to bang car doors on or bump a floor jack handle into. Fiber mesh concrete with moisture barrier and re bar reinforcement in the floors so not to have anything metal on the floor rust or slab to crack. I built two feet of foundation above the slab and then stud walls on top of that to allow for washing the floors, or washing cars inside without getting the walls wet. I have a 3" drop over 30' feet from back to front so water will run out the doors rather than to put a drain in the floor (they are prone to fail). This amount of drop is not detectable when walking around. I covered the walls in 4x8 sheets of dry erase board and white pegboard. This does not collect dust like drywall, can be used for diagrams and measurements (dry erase markers everywhere), and light reflection is great so to prevent shadows when doing body work. The walls are easily cleaned with a swiffer. I put 3 standard garage doors on the front and one 12 footer on the back. This allows for drive through capability which is much easier than backing a trailer down a long drive and into the garage plus it makes for great ventilation on warm summer days. Ceiling fans, stereo, TV, beer fridge and tools. Upstairs, is a 16x40 storage room with 8' ceiling. This space could be made into an apartment but I prefer the storage space. I just told the wife yesterday that I needed to build a wing on the garage or get a storage building. No shop is ever large enough.

Fear is very powerful...Courage is often the ability to control the fear and use it to your advantage.
