My friend and I are looking for some information on Yanahli WMA for archery deer season. This will be my first bow season and his first in Tennessee, and we're hoping someone can pass along a little guidance. Going in, we've heard there's a good bit of pressure, so we're expecting to need to canoe in and hike. I know it's iffy to ask about spots, but does anyone care to share their knowledge? Places to put in or general areas to check out? Are there other WMAs in/near southern Middle Tennessee where we need to look? Thanks!

Great information here, and my recommendation would be a combination of the two: I have a Redfield Revolution 2-7x that I really like in Weaver rings (I'm guessing low because I had to remove the rear sight), and my rifle shoots Leverevolution well.

It won't be until midday but me, too.

How about an 870 Wingmaster? Better fit and finish but still compatible with an ample aftermarket.

Some friends and I are thinking about a trip this summer to fish the Caney Fork by kayak, and I'm looking for recommendations on outfitters. We'll need to rent kayaks, and we may be interested in hiring a guide.   So can anyone offer some suggestions? Would a guide be worthwhile, or should we just go it alone?   Thanks!

This was my first experience of this kind, and it was an absolute blast.   I especially enjoyed the Benelli and Browning shotguns, Savage bolt rifles and Henry lever actions. Ruger's revolvers and the RIA pistols were price-point impressive, too. The smooth action of the Winchester SXP line was a nice surprise.   I was extremely disappointed with Marlin's offerings. I knew they wouldn't be as nice as the JM-marked classics, but the 336 and 1894 I tried had the worst triggers of the show. I can't believe those rifles were allowed on the show floor. Henry, Uberti and Rossi ate Marlin's lunch and took its milk money. So sad ... I'd wanted a pistol-caliber counterpart for my Marlin .30-30, and it looks like Henry is the frontrunner. One of those octagon-barreled, color-case-hardened beauties by Uberti sure would be nice, too.

I've been spending some time browsing the NRA annual meeting app, picking out vendors I'd like to visit (busy weekend if my "favorites" list is any indication), and was wondering about knife-makers and other associated stops anyone would recommend. If anyone is interested in collecting or maybe identifying something you've inherited, the Kindle version is an excellent resource for $25 or so. There's a lot of information that was overwhelming to me at first, but if there are specific models you're looking for, it's nice to be able to access that info should you run across a pawn shop find.

You're right that they're 2-3/4" chambers. I'd realized that about a week after I posted. As much as I'd like to "repurpose" the heirlooms, it's probably more practical to buy a shorter barrel for my Wingmaster.

This late-comer hunter took his first deer with a JM-stamped 336 I picked up from a member here. Its availability and affordability led me to choose the .30-30.
