  1. I wanted to post this here to try and talk more Tennesseeans to try this next time -   I ran 101.6 miles in 6 weeks while training for this event - 34.7 miles of which was with 40 lbs of gear on. 11 hour drive to get there. 90 competitors.   8th place finish - worth every drop of sweat and penny spent!   I cannot say enough good things about how well this match was run or the people who put it on. If you have any interest in this kind of thing you owe it to yourself to go!   <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/gng109EIYiA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  2. Very cool. That big hairy guy wouldn't be Hill Redwine, would it? I shoot with him at the GA FAL Match most years. That boy can shoot a FAL, and I'd assume he knows his way around a long range rifle too?
  3. It ate my lunch too - but I enjoy the challenge and it's obvious I need more practice on movers!
  4. Thanks for the quick scoring Alan! Great match as always - I hope to see more of those movers next year.
  5.   I bet it's nice!  Those triggers are like butter.  Or maybe glass.  Glass butter.   I don't want to shoot it too much - I might start to like it.
  6. Looking forward to it!
  7. Going to have to miss this one as I'll be in Florida. Hope somebody else carries the "heavy" flag while I'm gone! You all have fun -
  8. Let me know if you need any more help breaking it in. My trigger finger isn't even tired yet!
  9. Thanks Rickey - I've been there to shoot Highpower and Long Range Rifle, but it's been several years ago, and never for 3-gun or IDPA. That eastern time zone is the worst part - I'd go much more frequently if I didn't lose an hour in the morning!
  10.   Dangit - I'm gone this weekend too!     I'm confused about ORSA though - There's a regular 3-gun match on the 22nd/23rd, and then a 3GN Classifier match on the 29th?  The 22nd/23rd is my only free weekend, so it's looking good for ORSA I guess -
  11. I'm out of town the 1st Sunday in November so will have to miss my normal Manchester 3-gun match - so I'm looking for a substitution. Who can tell me about ORSA? How many stages, what's the longest rifle shot, any peculiarites (heavy on shotgun, buck and slugs, evil TX stars, etc.)? Also - which rules do they play by? I normally shoot Heavy Optics, but not everyone has that available.
  12. But you're only Heavy Metal if you take the scope off. There's no Heavy Optics in IMG rules. I'll keep my scope (don't want to mess up my good zero!) and go Tac Optics against all the .223 guys. I need some more controlled pair practice anyway!
  13. Good deal - the FAL and I will be there! Trying to keep my rules straight - if I have a scope on my .308 rifle I'm in Tac Optics with the .223 guys, right? That means 2 shots anywhere or 1 shot in the 0-zone to neutralize - regardless of the caliber? Or is this pure IDPA scoring, with 1/2 second added per point down?
  14. I just realized - if .308 is "heavy" does that mean .223 is "light metal"? What would that be, like old Poison or something? :-)
  15. I saw this thing in action yesterday, and even got to shoot a little rapid fire with it (thanks again, DMark!). It performed very well, and although the trigger would take a little getting used to it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be given the comments I've heard so far. It's very useable and competitive right out of the box.
  16. Looking forward to it, sir! We keep this up, we'll have a whole squad full of Heavies.
  17. Thanks for getting the results posted so quickly - what a great day!
  18. You're a Highpower shooter, right? I thought all you guys can put TEN shots into the x-ring without even thinking about it! You're even an "old-school" Highpower shooter that's not afraid of the 30 cal. ;-)
  19. Not sure if I feel better or worse now. I got some practice today on the things that ate my lunch last match: 25yd clays with the rifle and the 10" steel at 210 yds. I went ten for ten on the long "steel": 25yd clays were similar. It's clear my rifle is plenty accurate, my sights are on, and I know my holds. I just can't pull the effing trigger smoothly under pressure...
  20. I forgot - which barrel length did you choose? It's hard to tell with that long handguard.
  21.   1- 1.5" with surplus ball ammo?!?!?  Were those 5 shot groups from the magazine, or single load?  Wonder what it would do with match ammo...   I'm really looking forward to seeing this thing in action Sunday!
  22. Too cool - what's the thing weigh? My wife and my savings account might not like you very much after seeing this thing in action Sunday. I've been debating between this one and the DPMS G2 Hunter...
  23. Tell us about this HM AR Mark! I've been lusting over AR308s for the past year. I'll be there with the FAL if the planets don't align against me. I haven't practiced my 25yd clays yet though - I'd better get on it.
  24. Thanks for all the hard work guys - I enjoyed it!   I will be practicing shooting clays at 25 yds...
  25. Awesome! One my way -
