  1. Special thanks to AXTS Weapons Systems and Mission 22 for the awesome 45/90 ambi safety I won in a random draw today! More importantly, thank you for all you do to bring attention to the fact that, on average, 22 vets in America take their own life every day. I knew this was an issue, but I am ashamed to admit I had no idea it was this bad. This is shameful for us as a nation and I urge everyone to do whatever they can to help. #mission22 www.mission22.com
  2. If it makes you feel better, the 10k course was actually 6.73 miles, so they can't do the math either. ;-) We could do it in rods, chains, or leagues. "I just ran 393,700 inches!!!".
  3. I've seen it, but from what it looks like you just carry all your gear instead of using a baby stroller. I do that already. What am I missing? I've heard an "Ironman East" may be coming to Peacemaker this year - I might have to make that trip!
  4.   7th out of 117 total (81 did the 10k, the rest did the 5k).  Most guys carried an AR, but I'm a stubborn glutton for punishment with the FAL and extra weight.  :-)
  5. I just attended my second Oklahoma Run N Gun, and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.  Details are here (http://www.okrunngun.com/), but the short version is that it's a 10k rifle/pistol match.  Scores are 50% run time and 50% shoot score, and you carry all of your gear throughout.  Here's a highlight video from my run this year to give you a better idea of what it's like:   https://youtu.be/_L7U8M0_1UI   I may have some land available that would work for an event such as this, but I would need a WHOLE LOT of volunteers and RO's to make it happen.  And although I've helped at a lot of different matches, I've never put on my own match start to finish.  So this is no small undertaking.   Not to mention there would have to be enough demand to go through all the trouble to put it on.  In Oklahoma they have 90 paying customers (they run them all in a single day - RO's run the day before) and sell out in a week or two.  Match fees there are $100 each.   Or if someone else has a better idea for a place/person to host this, I am 100% all on board to help however I can.  IF I can get landowner permission we would be starting from scratch with raw forest, so the land I have in mind would be the hardest place possible to do it.  The Oklahoma folks will help however they can, sharing insurance, legal, administration, etc. details and likely come out to shoot too.   What do you think???
  6. I'm very tempted, but I spent last weekend in Oklahoma shooting the Oklahoma Run N Gun (10k biathlon). If I do another match this weekend I may be looking for a new wife. But I'll see how the week goes and tread carefully... ;-)
  7. Wow - 400yd rifle? I'm sorry I'm going to have to miss this one, but will definitely try to make one of these in the future.
  8. That was worth saying twice. Or five times!
  9. Holy crap, Coop - well done!!! We're not worthy!!!
  10. Dangit - I'm out of town again for this one. You guys have fun without me. Maybe I can hit Cleveland or ORSA or something in November...
  11. After a not-so-hot experience with a G21SF I was a little nervous about this one. I'm happy to report it runs great and is every bit as accurate as my good old G30. These were consecutive groups shot freestyle today at 10 yds: if I could just stop jerking the trigger I'd have some really nice groups...
  12. Shut your mouth, man! I won't even shoot light bullets in the FAL. ;-)
  13. That makes sense - thanks Alan!
  14. As long as we're talking millimeters, where on earth did those standards (the 140/170mm mag limits) come from? I understand they're from USPSA, but why did USPSA choose those numbers? Those seem pretty random.
  15. Oops - I meant 140mm. Thanks! Pretty soon I won't have any more excuses...
  16. I like how you think, but I've got to stay under 170mm total or they won't let me play their game.
  17. I've been studying my match videos this year, and one thing I keep seeing over and over is that my pistol reloads are slow and I do them way too often (10rd mags in a G30). I'm practicing my reload speed, and I can't quite bring myself to give up the .45ACP, so I came across this little gem used yesterday... +4 basepads are coming. 17+1 rds of .45ACP just sounds good!
  18. The most important thing is just to get out and DO IT! Don't wait until you are "ready", just show up at the next match with whatever gear you have, tell them you're new, and watch everyone fall all over themselves to help you.
  19. It's "natural", not "tactical". ;-)
  20. By god - it's ON now! No more excuses -
  21. Thanks for a great match, guys! I will be building a VTAC board so I can practice. You guys have uncovered ONE MORE thing I am not good at -
  22. Good deal. Forecast looks nice, but I bet we'll be slogging through the mud. Hope there's lots of prone and elbow crawls! Thanks for all your hard work today -
  23. Squad 3 is going to be done FAST!!!
  24. Good deal - everyone is happy and healthy I hope!
  25. Awesome! I'm in - Are you sleeping at night yet?
