I remember when Scotland was looking into that, and your right, it does cause an undesired light to be shown on the Fraternity. It is just as much the gov. business as to what organizations I belong to, as it is to what toilet paper I use. One of the questions on the petition to join ask "Do you now or have you ever belonged to any organization promoting the over throw off the government?"....or something along those lines. If the answer is "yes" then the petition is a no-go. I think I will post a sample of the petition in the double post I screwed up on earlier.

I think you handled the situation very nicely. I would tend to think that I would have went to the car, disarmed, cam back in and had the same conversation. Before leaving I would ask, "So the next time I come back in, I will be carrying, will I be accepted?" If her reply was no, then I would leave the products on the counter, and inform her that I would be taking my business else where. You handled it great, and informed them of the laws, just as you should (without mentioning the proper signage +1). However, I would have only added the part about coming back carrying, and if that was not ok you will be shopping somewhere else. It doesn't hurt for them to know how passionate we are about this, and it could cause them to change their policy. Maybe.

LOL. "and as to when the govt. has the right to make a practice illegal, in the overall picture!" In regards to Masonry, the government has no need to interfer.....the majority are members)...just kidding. That is why the Grand Lodge of England was formed in 1717. England made it a crime to be a member of a "Secret Society", so the Freemasons came together and opened their membership roles, and open the Grand Lodge of England, and it became the mother to the current system of Lodges around the World. However, the government stepping in now?.....is this what you are hinting toward?

LOL. Naw. If I did, I didn't mean too. Just wondering. We don't don't mess around with snakes, and we are not a religion, so I was just curious as to why that was brought up. Maybe it was because a show on Natl. Geo. was mention and this "snake handling" show was also viewed on that channel. Snake handling is not for me....that is one reason I bought a judge.

Yeah I got that, but that is just not anywhere close to the topic at hand. Just curious.

That first site is a little out dated. The Grand Lodge of Tennessee dropped the age limit from 21 to 18 a few years ago. The DeMolay Boys (Masonic boys organization) ends once the young man turns 18. So I believe that the Grand Lodge took this into consideration when they lowered the age limit, from 21 to 18.

Masonry means different things to each brother. "Knowing what it is all about", I am curious as to what you think it is all about. I am not wanting to argue, I like to hear what people outside of the fraternity think, and how they came to their conclusions. I know that will result in hi jacking this thread. Feel free to email me: jkmaness2002@yahoo.com If you would like. I agree 100%, and couldn't have said it better myself.

I have played for 11 years now. I played rythm guitar in church for about 5 years, now i just play around the house. I do have an elecric (Fender Strat I am rebuilding) but my heart is in Acoustic Guitars. Here is my little girl (at 4 months) with my Taylor 514ce. The daughter's name is Diana Renee' the guitar's name is Geneva.

+1 Great Question. That does offer up quite a dilemma.

I love watching shows like that, but I never know when they are coming on. I have Direct TV and a DVR, what is the best way to search for shows that are coming on that deal with a certain topic? Maybe search the upcoming shows for the word Freemason?

Everytime I am up there Punisher isn't working that night. Makes me wonder. I work downtown and usually take anywhere between 1 to 1 1/2 hour lunch, so if you are in this area, mabe lunch is an option. Dang, I think we might ought to stop.....this is starting to sound like a "man date" LOL

Wow I missed all the fun too. I actually had to do some work today and wasn't able to check the forum a lot. Dang. I am: JW at Berclair Lodge #771 Member in the York Rite Bodies at 4th and Court, downtown Memphis Penn Chapter #22 Eureka Council #6 St. Elmo Commandery #4 and just recently (March 13-14) joined the Scottish Rite Memphis Valley A.A.S.R. I have received my Yellow Dog Degree I am also a Member of the Tennessee Lodge of Research and I will be joing the Scottish Rite Research Society here in the next week or two. db99wj, we really ought to get together one day. I really appreciate what you said, even though we have never meet (in real life). Any questions that you or anyone might have regarding Masonry, I will be more than happy to answer. I am by no means a scholar on Masonry, but I am working towards that. I enjoy history. Pm me sometime, and we can exchange phone numbers, and plan a trip to the range or maybe a bite to eat, whatever....heck i will just pm you. Anyone that has any questions, feel free to ask, and I will to the best of my ability attempt to answer them. Remember that Freemasonry, like any other Fraternity, has certain elements that do not get disscussed with non members. The company I worked for would not like me talking about what goes on in our weekly meetings with anyone who is not in the company (some things I can't even mention to the guys in the shop), and we have never been accussed of devil worship, at least not to the degree that Masonry has. One thing I can clear up, and for anyone who cares to believe me. In Masonry, no brother is instructed or lead to worship anything. The word worshipful is used in the title of the man in charge (president) of the Lodge for that year. It is an Old English Term (which Freemasonry opened it membership records to the public and formed the "Lodge" as we know it today in the year 1717. Since then the words used have not been altered a great deal if any) Here is the definition of worshipful from the Merriam - Webster dictionary: Main Entry: wor·ship·ful Pronunciation: ˈwər-shəp-fəl Function: adjective Date: 14th century 1 aarchaic : notable , distinguished bchiefly British —used as a title for various persons or groups of rank or distinction

Fake Cop Accused of Pulling Over Real Cop (Memphis)
memphismason replied to jeffmem's topic in General Chat
It wasn't in that video, but on one that was shown here on the news, you could see my lodge, on the right side as they were driving down Berclair Rd. Crazy! On a side not.......That reporter is hot. -
Only if the malt liquor is Olde English. That stuff is tasty.

Nice! If they perform to your liking, the price tag shouldn't matter.

Great Tip. I will give it a try the next time I am at the range. I almost feel dumb for not knowing about this. However it does affirm my many hours spent here are not wasted.
