  1. Is using a spotlight legal in Mississippi?
  2. All righty guys.....lets keep this on topic about the animal. I know it is tempting, and we are weak creatures, but lets do this for the ladies that are members of TGO, the sake of the original poster, and his serious question.
  3. I am confused. Happy, but confused
  4. Everyone needs more cowbell. lol The place we use to hunt when I was going up in McNairy County was riddled with old stills. I remember first asking my dad what they were and him explaining them to me. At the same place we use to hunt at "The Lard Can". Someone way before we started hunting there hauled in an old lard can to a ridge overlooking a very large hollow. This was some of the best hunting on this property. This hollow created a funnel between a pine thicket and the Power Lines. Killed many deer at that spot. I am not sure why the person brought in a lard card, unless he was very little and use to sit on it. One night while we where in our camper, right on the side of the dirt road, about a half a dozen police cars came barreling down the road with lights and sirens blasting. As my dad stepped out of the camper to see what the commotion was, one car stopped and next thing I know he was on gunpoint and was being told to put his hands behind his head. After a little conversation and verifying with the property owner that we had permission to be there, everything settled down. The deputy asked my dad if we had seen anyone come down the road, and my dad said yeah last night a blue Buick came in the afternoon, and then left a little after 10 that night. (See the road dead ended on someones property that we didn't have permission to hunt on about a mile from where we were camping.) The deputy told us that was the vehicle they were looking for. He then went on down the road to where the other deputies went. On their way out that night he stopped at our camper and told us what happened. Two men had broke into a home, robbed it, kidnapped the man and his girlfriend that were there, drove them out to the woods, raped both of them, and murdered them execution style. This road had quite a few properties that butted up to it. It was and old county dirt road.It was probably 2.5 to 3 miles long from the gravel road to the end. The next day after we hunted the morning, I guess curiosity got the best of my Dad and we walked down the road to where the police tape was saw what was left of the scene. They still had evidence markers out there. We stayed a few more nights and left we headed back home. We never saw the police come back to collect their markers and stuff. As I got older I asked my dad why we went ahead and stayed after hearing about what had happened, knowing that the two guys in the blue Buick had seen our truck and camper, and that they could have came back and killed us. His response was, "I was going to let that ruined our hunting."
  5. Same here. I will have to give my Dad a call and ask him about some of our adventures.
  6. Got Beer?
  7. Sent mine in last week. Answered what was necessary. I file a tax return every year that answers all the questions the census was asking.
  8. I laughed out loud more than once. That was great.
  9. Hi my name is Jason, and I am a "Gun Nut" I am 27 years old and I have been shooting since I can remember anything. My Dad and Grandfather took me hunting when I was very young, so I have always had guns. Weird thing is I still have ever gun I have ever owned, up until now. Last year I gave my little brother my Stevens .22 rifle when I bought my Ruger 10/22. That didn’t bother me too bad cause I was “passing on†the gun tradition to a younger generation. However the past two days I have sold my S&W 19-5 .357mag revolver and my Mossberg 500 mariner 12 gauge. I am at the stage where I have all the guns that I “need†for the moment. Saying that means all my firearms serve a specific purpose or hold a sentimental value to me. Anything I acquire now is a “want†unless I decide to do something that requires a certain type of firearm or where a certain type is better used for that purpose. And that was what my .357 and Mariner where, “Want Gunsâ€. Well we have had bad luck where the wife’s car as of late and we wound up buying a new one last night, and I sold these two firearms to fund the down payment. Luckily I have the mindset that if I buy a “Want†gun, I have to get a GREAT deal on it or I won’t buy it, because the way I figure is that gun becomes an investment and I like to make money instead of breaking even or losing money. Having said all that bring me to my problem. I am having a hard time letting go of these two guns. There are both gone and the money is spent, but I am in a funk. Remember I have never sold a gun in my 16 years of owning guns. It feels weird. I guess I need to go to the range and shoot a couple of my firearms to take my mind off of things. Thanks guys for giving me a shoulder to cry on.
  10. That is awesome. My mom shot one of my .22 pistols and handed it back to me and said it was too loud. lol
  11. I have a 1967 Ruger Standard .22 pistol. I helped a couple friend of mine move and her grandfather had given this to her husband and he didn't want it, so he gave it to me for helping them move. I replaced the extractor, the firing pin and spring. I got all the stuff from Ruger, for about $10. It shoots great. Here's a picture.
