  1. I can work through "lunch" and take an hour vacation if I decide to that day.   I called the clerk and she said that the driving school is $65 but whether or not there were court costs it could be a total of $175.  $65 would be cutting the fine in half and nice, even if I have to sit through a 4 hour class. If it was $175 then that is debateable at best because it is difficult to know exactly how it would affect insurance being on my record. Then there is of course the possiblity that I show up, pay court costs, and have to pay the citation amount as well becuase defensive driving school was denied.   If I decide to show up to court, the only thing I see myself saying would be "I don't deny that I was speeding, it was an honest mistake that I take responsiblity for, it is my first speeding citation, can it be forgiven or defensive driving school be taken as an alternative?". In my mind it shouldn't take 2 minutes of the judges time but I have no idea how long the process would actually take.   The most frustrating part, outside of having to wait until 12/9, is that they absolutely cannot tell you with any confidence whether or not there will be any court costs associated with the ordeal. I assume so, but I wish they would just say so.
  2.   But it did keep it off your record, right? I too a gree that it is in a sense crooked especially if it does somehow involve the local municipality keeping more money than if they uphold the citation. Going 55 in a 45? I doubt "traffic school" or "defensive driving school" will help.
  3.   But if it will keep insurance down it should be worth it. Surely court costs + $65 wouldn't be more than that fine of $133.75, would it? I will try and call in a bit to see what they have to say. I'd imagine it typically would go on my driving record since it is a decently serious infraction, but you never know. I have been told by several people that if you wait until the last day or two to pay the citation, it usually doesn't go on your record for some reason. I was told this by multiple people at my insurance company.   Weird. I don't understand it if it is true.
  4. http://www.collegedaletn.gov/index.aspx?NID=156   See! That is a good reason I asked this question. I didn't know this is in option. I'll give them a call and see what they say.
  5. Well, it says 11-15 over as the citation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Because when he ran my license he would see that I had one. There are different schools of thought but intend to think it is doing a service to yourself as well as the officer. Feel free to disagree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. In Collegedale/Ooltewah tonight on Little Debbie Parkway. I think but am not 100% positive that the limit was just reduced there. I was going 55 in a 40.   I handed him my permit with my license. He simply asked if I had the weapon in the car and asked where, then asked me just to avoid that area. I guess he handled that part well. I tried to be very respectful and polite to the officer, but didn't try and come up with an excuse or anything. I honestly didn't know I was speeding, but didn't want to come across as annoying or irresponsible. I honestly thought that he was going to run my license and checkup on my insurance and then give me a warning, but he was gone way too long for that so that's when I knew...   Ticketed $133.75.   Court date of 12/09 at 3:00 during my normal work hours. I'm in Cleveland, courthouse in Collegedale. My question is whether or not it is worth showing up. I think some/most of the time they tack on fees for showing up to the court date, right? All I'd plan on doing is showing up, explaining that I genuinely did not know I was speeding, had a clean record up to this point, etc. But I don't deny that I was speeding because I know what I set my cruise control on. Does the judge even have the capability for grace, and if he does, do they often exercise it?
  8. I am considering selling my Hi-Skor 700-X if I can get fair pricing for it, if not I'll just keep it because it has been decent for loading 9mm.   That being said, it's the only powder I've tried so I'd like to try one of the more commonly used pistol powders such as Red Dot, Power Pistol, Tite Group, or Unique.   I don't really think I'll own any other pistol calibers other than 9mm in the forseeable future, although I still and will always have an itch for a nice .357 Magnum. So, I wouldn't worry too much about pistol calibers other than 9mm when looking for a powder.   I'm using the Lee Perect Powder Measure and would like a powder that meters well if possible. I think my biggest gripe with the 700-X is that it doesn't seem to meter well but I cannot really say because I have nothing to compare it to.
  9.   I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not saying that the Sawer Mini cannot do that, I'm just saying that I don't neceserally trust the Sawer Mini to actually do that. The burden is on them to prove it works. That being said, I'd like for it to be proven that it works as it would be a very nice product at a very nice price.   Personally I bought the Katadyn Pocket. Many might say it is overpriced and outdated, I say it is a classic and proven product that I didn't mind paying for.
  10. Also, for any of you Amazoners out there, this website is great:   http://camelcamelcamel.com/   What it does is show you graphs of the pricing for any item you want.
  11.   Well..that is because yesterday it was $14.30...
  12. Just a heads up, the LifeStraw Personal is back to basically it's all time low price on Amazon.
  13. I don't understand the fears of modifications, etc for carry handguns. Why aren't the following ever worried about? Why did you purchase and carry a $1200 handgun. Was it because it would help you kill more efficiently? Why were you a member of your local range? Was it so you could practice killing people more efficiently? Why did you carry a Glock? Was it because you wanted to play being a cop? Why did you carry more than one round in your gun? Were you planning on shooting more than one person? Why do you have a flashlight on your gun? Is it so you can blind the people, giving you the upper hand while you murder them, I mean, worrying about a conversion barrel giving you trouble? Sheesh. The only thing you need to worry about in terms of a conversion barrel is if it operates reliably. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Internet sleuths amaze me. They found the location from where it was filmed, an abandoned sanitarium in Poland. Some more weird things have came out, along with a zip file being posted via IRC that has yet to be opened. Don't know whether to be concerned, amazed, or both. I think all of the gore type images have been proven to come from various forms of "media". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. It's certainly interesting. Theories ranging from warning/thread to viral marketing for movie/game.   https://www.reddit.com/r/creepy/comments/3ongx1/this_creepy_puzzle_arrived_in_our_mail/   http://gizmodo.com/can-you-solve-the-creepy-crypto-puzzle-thats-consuming-1737287343
  16. Even though it isn't stock it would have been an investment, but i remember somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 years ago discovering Bitcoin. I was thinking about mining it with my computer but discovered ATI graphics cards were better than Nvidia for this purpose. Guess which one I had? That and coupled with the fact that I think the question back then was "how many bitcoins to make a single dollar". Trust me, it was a lot of bitcoins = $1. Had I simply purchased $100 worth of them I would have very close to have been a millionaire a few months ago when they were topping $600.    Just goes to show that a bit of money thrown away could benefit you greatly a decade from now. I didn't do a thing with bitcoin because I figured it would never go anywhere. Personally, with penny stocks I guess I'd be most drawn towards pharmaceutical companies, tech companies, etc. Something that might not be worth a penny now might jump up to hundreds a share after some sort of deal, invention, etc.   That being said, as a whole penny stocks are probably a loss. It's just a different form of gambling I suppose. I would consider it much more interesting though that buying a lottery ticket. With a lottery ticket you may win or lose, that's it. With a  penny stock, your $100 investment may jump up and down a bit and then for a few hours be worth $500. Do you sell it then or do you hold it in hopes that it goes up 1000% and pays even more?   I probably won't do what I wrote above in the foreseeable future. For serious wealth building and investing I would suggest the more traditional way of doing so: Diversification in stable stocks and bonds.
  17. I've thought about it. I currently invest with Betterment.com. No reason not to like them. It's very heavily diversified, but at the same time it is automated.   That being said, I've been sort of tempted to open another E*Trade account or the like and invest in individual companies for building short term wealth. Betterment.com is what I'm using for Roth IRA. If I convince myself for an E*Trade account, it would be moreso for just "playing". Maybe $100 a month into some random diversified company I've heard of that interested me. It'd be money that I would consider "gone". Maybe "Penny Stocks", maybe startups, maybe just some random tech company. Just hold on to it for a decade or potentially forever. If something shot up then sell it. If it never did anything just hold it because I considered that $100 "gone" and who cares if I got $4.36 of the $100 back?   That being said, I feel like investing more into something like Betterment.com or something would be the smarter thing to do, but that's just me.

  22.   So...not evening acknoledging the 3rd or 4th?   I liked the firepower and everything in the 3rd. The 4th was sort of interesting showing the history of the town.   In as simple words as possible, if this 5th one is any good, it'll meet my expecations and I'll be quite happy. Some things you just like because you like them, not because they are great.
