Oh really? How old are you? I'm 25 and have been working at my current job since 2007. I have been here as a full-time employee since 2012. I have my associates and am only 45 credit hours away from a bachelors. I have $0.00 worth of student debt. My parents didn't help me at all, I didn't get grants but did receive some scholarship money. The rest? I worked it. I say all that to add that I too am disappointed in how it is "the smart thing to do" to rack up $50,000 to $500,000 in debt for a bachelor's degree. Curiosity got me. I ordered a SOG Powerlock from Amazon, it's this one:   http://amzn.to/1mFZ5UB   I have always wanted one of the SOG's to tryout. If I get it and don't like the feel of it I am sure Amazon will be happy to accept it back.   Reasons?   Figured I'd give the compound leverage thing a try, 1/4" drive (sounds neat, may sound neater than it is), lots of tools.

Well if you like it then that is what matters to you. What I love about my watch that I posted above is that it is under $100. Perfectly functional, if I lose it or it gets stolen I'm not devastated, and I have $500 to spend on something else cool. In my opinion an expensive G-Shock is like a Mosin that has $500 extra in it. A $600 Mosin that shoots like a $100 Mosin is in the same ballpark as a $600 G-Shock that tells time just as good as a $100 G-Shock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  Well, that's definitely a possibility but if I can return it for the cost of shipping for a new one then I think I will do that. If they send me a new one it will have the higher resale value of the two options just in case I decide to try something else.

  Yes, the Gerber that comes with the OTIS IWCK is a black coated 600, basically what I have but with I think C4 tools.

So, here is my conundrum. For a few years my Gerber MP600 Pro Scout has been my go-to multi-tool. However, over the years it has developed the following two issues: One of the flatheads broke and the wire cutter has developed a significant burr and now once the pliers are completely closed you have to use two hands to pull them open again because the burr essentially makes it stick closed. However, I have loved the one handed opening feature overall. Recently in a purchase from a TGO member I acquired an original Leatherman Super-Tool. It is the original and is no longer available. The one I picked up is 100% new. It seems awesome and I am thinking of keeping it. With that being said, I decided to try and send the Gerber back for a replacement. They should do this for free. I then decided that I was interested in the SOG Powerlock series. They use gears in their pliers so you can get more force on them easier. But reading about multi-tools on the internet is about like reading about Glocks vs 1911's, etc etc. Some people love Leatherman, some people love SOG, personally I like the Gerber but think the steel might be a bit soft. I had two Victorinox Swisstools from a local Tennessee Trader purchase about 6 years ago. I sold both of them but wish I had kept one; They were really nice. I started this thread to see what you all thought about multitools. Anyone have a SOG? Should I keep and use the Leatherman? If I don't plan on keeping and using the Leatherman as well as Gerber I will sell them to fund a purchase of what I do want.

  It's a great project, probably by a few college students but also possibly just tinkerers. It is perfect for exercising programming and logic, algorithms etc. All of which (the knowledge) can be applied in vast areas in life.   Why would you cast bullets if you can just buy them?!?!?!?   :koolaid:

Well, the top part comes intuitively to me as well as most people. I had already memorized the algorithm from years ago for middle layer edges. Thus, all I needed were the ones for: Yellow Cross Yellow Edges Yellow Corner Placement Yellow Corner Arrangement So 4 for me, but five or six if you have never messed with one before. So, the other day a buddy had a speed-cube. I commented on it and then I quickly realized that it wasn't just a prop for him; He was an expert. So much so that he solved the thing in 14.9 seconds in front of me. We talked a long while and I ended up ordering one. No need to brag, but I taught myself how to solve it in one evening! During research, I found that the world record for a solve is under 5 seconds (I think about 4.9). Some of these people are amazing, memorizing 60 or more algorithms so that they can do they can save as much time as possible while doing the fewest amount of moves. Me, I only had to memorize about 4 different algorithms to completely solve the thing by memory. It is very consuming, I'll solve it in about 2-3 minutes and then mess it up and solve it again. I've probably solved it 50 times or more by now. Anyways, for those wondering what a speed-cube is, this is what I ordered: http://amzn.to/1PUtbuP The reason that these cubes are nice are because they are more loose than the original stock Rubik's Cube. This allows you to make turns without having the sides perfectly aligned, resulting in faster speeds. Also, they have springs inside and you can pop the center white piece cap off and tighten/loosen the tension. I opted for this specific version because it is stickerless and thus the stickers will not peel after use. It is very well made and seems that it will hold up to extended use. I cannot believe I hadn't ever gotten around to learning this things. It has always been "one of those goals" but I literally tackled it in one evening and then had everything memorized the 2nd evening. I recommend one of these to any of you that haven't quite solved a Rubik's cube yet! I haven't actually timed myself yet but it seems about 2-3 minutes tops. Anyone here any good?
