So you are comparing a $1,300 Mac to a $250 Windows laptop? Ok, I mean if that's what you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Buying a new laptop every two years isn't stupid expensive? A Mac can last you much longer than that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So...tonight I was traveling northbound on I-75. Just before I came through the Bonny Oaks Exit (probably ~mile beforehand) I noticed a cop was behind me quite close with his pretty blue lights on. At first I was thinking that he was going around me (I was in the left lane) but then he kept following me as I continuously changed lanes going rightward. I very carefully decelerated and changed lanes all the way to the shoulder. I immediately turned on my cabin lights and waited patiently with both front windows down. This cop pops up by my Wife and tells me he got me going 80 in the 55 there. He asked if I knew I was going that fast. I told him I truthfully did but honestly thought it was a 65 there and he informed me that it was a 55 that was about to turn into a 65. With all of that being said, he then asks me if I'm a cop. I politely laugh and tell him that I am not. He proceeds to ask me how a warning for the evening sounds and then is on his way after wishing the four of us (we had two friends with us) a safe night. He may or may not have had time to run my tags, I am not sure. It seemed like 15-30 seconds after we were pulled over he was at our window. I drive a 2013 Ford Explorer, White. I personally have short hair (I ask for a #2 guard all-around when I get it cut). I also was very cautious while changing lanes over and then pulled as far off the highway as possible. As stated I quickly turned on my cabin lights illuminating the entire vehicle. My question: Why did he ask if I was a cop? Obviously only he knows the true reason but based upon what I stated I was wondering via LEO's why he may have suspected enough to ask. Also, nicest, most friendly, happiest cop amongst all of them that have ever pulled me over.

Let me tell you how to wave $120 bucks too:) Take the total number of your CZ's, subtract one, and buy that many TFX's for them. The extra? Mail it to my FFL as a thank you:)

They do:) (at least for the TFX version) http://amzn.to/1OTKxag

Well, I used John Miller (JFM Gunsmithing) in Cleveland. He charged $20 and had it done it less than three hours turnaround (dropped it off and picked it up after work). He is a good guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, I guess since it is a dot system it makes sense to align the dots. That being said, it seems it would have been best to engineer the product so that the dots align at the same angle that the sight heights align. My carry Glock 19 has a Surefire X300 Ultra attached at all times. If I have time to aim at the sights and also have time to turn on the light, in all likelihood the sights are going to go 100% silhouette. With that being said, I'm curious as to whether the fiber will glow any in a completely dark room with the X300 Ultra on (in other words, will spill from the light that hits the ceiling, etc be enough to make the sights glow). That all being said, reasons I like night sights? In the dark it allows you to see where your firearm is. It can be on my nightstand, etc etc and the little green dots let me know exactly where my firearm is. I am really hoping that I specifically like the TFX's because they seem to light up bright in sunlight. This could be really neat. Specifically on firearms such as an AR-15, it would be really neat to manufacture a piece that was flexible fiber optic that would attach to a weapon light. It would be just enough fiber optic acting as a ring around the light that allows 95% of the light to spill from the flashlight as expected, but would catch the outer 5% of light around the outside of the weapon light head and then feed that light to a fiber optic set of front and rear sights and/or an ACOG type device. Quick pulse of the weapon light at night? Whenever the light is on your sights are glowing like fiber optics do in daylight.

Just a heads up that today (2/29) the Lifestraw Family is going to be a lightning deal on Amazon. It is usually closer to $70-$80 but is $49.97 for a short time today. http://amzn.to/21DQ5iq

I literally just discovered that TruGlo has released a new version of their "TFO" sites... TFO = Tritum Fiber Optic TFX = Tritum Fiber optic eXtreme Supposedly they are more durable and built better than the older TFO's. I always wanted the TFO's but was haunted by the horror stories of the vials falling out so I never actually bought them. This may remedy my fear. Thinking of purchasing these: http://amzn.to/1XOZH7W But at $109 + shipping and installation, that's literally twice the price of the Glock sights installed at Smyrna. But I want the TFX's so much I think I will probably buy them dependent on feedback from this thread. I may see if John Miller (Gunsmith) has any on hand in Cleveland for me to take a look at.

What Firearms Can Reveal About Your Personality

Man. Look up the Mosin vs AR vs Ak-47. Much better. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm Actual thought was put into this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hahahaha. I do like leather holsters and a High Noon was the first I ever carried with. It was very comfortable. That being said, I find it ironic that High Noon used to pride themselves on being leather only and "not all that other crap". Now they make kydex holsters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now the Leatherman Wave...I'd like to play with one of those for a bit. It looks nice.
-
Well, I have put hands on the Gerber you listed. It's nice, especially that the cutters are replaceable. I'lll look into the Wave. Mostly though I guess I just had a curiosity for the SOG. I'm not at all saying it wasn't nice, but rather that it performed differently than what I am used to with my Gerber.
-
Well...I received the SOG last night. Things I liked about it: Compound pliers, Included Sheath Things I didn't like about it: Side covers that kept popping off Tools that not only open from the inside but also from inside the side covers The unavoidable fact that compound pliers means that you have to open the handles further to get the jaws open further. The bottle opener didn't seem anywhere near as well designed as my Swiss Pioneer. I am returning it. I really like the Leatherman Super-Tool, but last night I had the pleasure of realizing what happens when you accidentally open all the tools on one side all the way. They all lock, which would normally be fine. But on the Leatherman Super-Tool, to unlock one of the tools you have to open another one of the tools to what would be 90° perpendicular to the handle. This relieves stress on the lock-bar. What do you do when all the tools are locked open and you cannot relieve stress on the lockbar? I chunked it in the trash. Just kidding, I had to take my Swiss Pioneer and pry the lockbar loose a little bit. I got them all closed. But prying with a flathead edge on the lockbar of a tool that has several sharp blades/edges locked opened seemed dangerous. Where is all of this leading? I really, really like my Swiss Pioneer and may be picking up a Victorinox Swiss-tool someday but not anytime soon. I had several NIB from a bulk lot purchase 6 years ago or so but I sold them all. Wish I had kept one. For now I think I'm sticking with the Gerber 600 that I have.

Well good then! My gripe isn't with smart people who go to school to become smarter and do smart things, but rather the generation that says "Who am I really?" and goes to school for the experience, good times, and if they are lucky enough then a degree in something they thought sounded neat at the time. The system tells them that is a worthwhile thing to do. They get out of school with $75,000 debt and they work at Chili's because they never really figured out who they were and their schooling isn't directly applicable to them or their situation. Let me also add that a smart person going to a crazy expensive non-party school would have likely weighed the costs vs benefits and determined that it is worthwhile to them. Racking up several $100,000 for schooling when you are sure you will earn six figures or better within a few years, that's your choice and chance.
