  Yep! Although I do enjoy being active I am not an exercise buff. That leads me to reduce calorie intake and that app is perfect for managing that!     I too am not going to let those charts rule my life. It would/will be a night and day difference if I get down under 200 lbs. I'll go from there to see if I should drop another 10 or 20.   Also, lucky you for your company! I know someone that works IT at BlueCross and they have a tracker laced into their shoelaces. I don't know exactly but I think they get payouts if they meet certain goals. I wish!   Pork rinds and sugar free Jello! I too remember gorging myself on a lot of those. I didn't feel great because I wasn't eating healthy but it did takes pounds off. I do remember hitting a plateau around 205 or so (attempting to drop from 220 to 200). A consequence of such is that I still love a whole bag of pork rinds.

Interesting! I haven't recently used the app while at a restaurant and did not know it would display their menu. That sounds nice. I purchased one of the FitBit trackers and wore it a while. I ended up returning it because honestly all it ever let me know what that I needed to go for a walk every evening to reach my activity goal. It seemed to work well but especially now with advanced technology being included in cell phones I felt the FitBit tracker...redundant. That being said, if G-Shock came out with a watch exactly like mine but with including tracking I may be interested. I don't really wear "dress watches" ever but if I did this would likely be at the top of my list: Withings Activité.   My diet is and will be generally mixed and geared towards healthy. Low carb definitely works but can lead to bad eating habits depending on what you choose. I did it back in 2005 to lose 20 lbs and it worked but I found myself eating potted meat and vienna sausages a lot for convenience. Currently I am definitely attempting to limit carbs but am not afraid of them. I'm focusing more so on quality fruits and vegetables and if it fits into my calorie limit even deserts and burgers, etc. Once I get closer to my goal I will feel better all around and at that point can focus on staying active and eating healthy but generally whatever I want with less worry.   Also, congrats on the 50 lbs! Right now my goal is 200 lbs even so I have 39 to go. However, if you lookup the recommended weight charts this is what I find for being age 25 at about 5'-8".   Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 148.1 lbs Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 148.8 lbs Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 150.8 lbs Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 153.4 lbs Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, your recommended weight is 121.7 lbs - 164.4 lbs   I may end up losing 50 eventually but I am trying to keep my goal reasonable and obtainable. At 200 lbs my lifestyle would be drastically different. I literally cannot even imagine being anywhere between any of those recommendations above. If I were to hit 180 that would be phenomenal.

So, earlier this week after eating a nice Indian Buffet I weight 246 lbs, that's the most I've ever weighed. So, I decided to lose weight. I set a goal at 200 lbs. How am I doing it? 1) I'm using MyFitnessPal to count calories. You input your current weight, etc and then set a goal. I told it I'd like to lose 2 lbs a week. Thus, it set my calorie intake at 1900 calories per day. You then input your food as you eat it. If it is something with a barcode you can just scan the barcode and it is likely in the database. Otherwise you can search for it like, "apple", or whatever. Most restaurant food is in the database as well. As an interesting sidenote, if you have an iPhone 5s or newer it automatically counts your steps. Check your "Health" app for this. Well, MyFitnessPal can automatically read this data and adjust your calorie intake. For example, yesterday I ate 1,731 calories of my 1,900 goal, but I walked enough to burn 366 calories, so I could have eaten another 535 had I wanted to. All of the math and adjustments are automatic. 2) I have a FItbit Aria. It is a smart Wi-Fi scale that automatically logs your weight. I have it tied to MyFitnessPal so when I weigh MyFitnessPal automatically updates my goal progress. This is just purely for motivation and obviously not really required. Also, if I were making the purchase again, I would probably get one of the Withings scales instead because it integrates with Apple's Health directly. I think Fitbit has made the decision to not integrate with Health. EDIT: I just realized that you can go and give MyFitnessPal permission to access and write Healthkit data such as "weight" so the scale purchase would now be a tossup based on price. Thus, the data should push from Fitbit to MyFitnessPal to Apple's Healthkit. I was also able to link two badges to my signature that automatically update. If I go and weigh right now, it would update the badges that you see. That's just an added little bonus for motivation and conversation. Different things work for different people. Things that help motivate me? When I "complete" a daily diary in MyFitnessPal it gives a status update. For example, yesterday it told me "If every day were like today... You'd weigh 224.2 lbs in 5 weeks". As you all know, 5 weeks goes by in the blink of an eye. To weight that in 5 weeks if I continue this trend is very motivating. Exercising is addicting and motivating! I know after a nice 3 mile walk I feel motivated to try and continue the trend towards better health. Even a short 1 mile walk is helpful to do this. For me, eating foods that are easy to account for (like inputting "apple" into the MyFitnessPal app) helps me stay motivated. To see the estimated amount of calories I am eating it is easier to control portions and intake. If you throw a bunch of ingredients in a dish and then eat 27.193% of the dish, it is hard to estimate the calories and as such makes it easier to fudge and eat more. I like trying to leave a few hundred calories left over at the end of the day. This helps you if you ended up underestimating your calorie intake elsewhere. Now, I'm not starving myself. I'm just watching calories and choosing more carefully where they come from. I'm trying to increase the amount of exercise as well. So far I feel great. It's just sticking to it and trying to avoid binge days where you throw the entire system out the window.

Going by the total acreage of the continental United States, looks like the can own the whole thing in less than 5.2 years of buying 1,000,000 acres a day. Maybe if faster if they buy more daily!

So, my predicament. I purchased a Colt 6920 a few years back, this was before they started issuing MagPul furniture on them. I ended up sticking a MagPul MOE handguard on it, BAD Lever, and that's it.   Fast forward to yesterday. I realized that "M-LOK" and "Keymod" are developing and competing standards. I did not realize that these were standards across the board that were fighting to replace picatinny rails.   My older handguard is MOE but not M-LOK. I have been looking at slings, foreends, etc. I thought I decided to purchase the foreend and vertical grip today locally, but then I made the mistake of seeing a new 6920 with MagPul furniture. I think I can nearly come out even if I sell the rifle I have and purchase the new one the way I was going to fix up the other one. I may be out a little $ but it comes with the MagPul stock, grip (front and rear), handguard, and backup sights.   My plans are to place a Surefire light on the 2-3' position, AFG or VFG at 6' obviously, and tapeswitch (for the light) at the 9-10' position. I think I may give a QD sling mount a try either in front of or behind the tapeswitch, whichever works better.   My "old" 6920 comes with the removable carry handle and I think I could dig up the original handguards for it. I would probably leave the BAD lever on it.   Who knows, I might pop it up for sale on here tonight. My questions:   1) Used value for a very nice condition 6920 with probably no more than 500 rounds through it, maybe less.   2) M-LOK, I like it, some people seem to think Keymod is better. Thoughts?   3) I like to keep things simple but that being said, it's an AR. It is begged to be decorated a bit. Nothing mall ninja but only functional stuff. It's a toughie.   4) Are the newer 6920's the same as the older 6920's in terms of quality, specifications, etc?

  By no means interpret any of that as dissatisfaction! I was 99% satisfied...the only 1% dissatisfaction was that I didn't have $1000 to blow!   1) No biggie. Most went fine. but the .40 Glock mag puzzled me as well as a few others attending.   2) Hey, I WILL load mags for $1.00 each if we were closer. Also wouldn't care to link belts either.   3) Understandably replacing targets would take more time when people are waiting...   4) Mainly I was talking about another lane full of only suppressors on semi-auto weapons. Sort of a "try me" on stuff that most people could afford if they wanted. I am so close to buying a can for my Glock but would like a personal demo of the right (subsonic ammo) through the right host pistol just to make sure it is worth the time and effort and that I have realistic expectations. Assuming Mike sells a lot of suppressors then it seems this would be the perfect gateway to new customers for him.   As to the Glock, I loved that thing. In the carbine kit it is actually usable but I was curious what it would handle like without a conversion. I figured a full-auto pistol was too much liability (as in, rise and then blow your brains out for the inexperienced) and that was why it was in the kit.   I don't know how soon it will be before I try to attend another, but I wouldn't mind giving it another go sometime in the next few years.

My thoughts, and I know some of this is nearly impossible when people are waiting in line to shoot. 1) More (qty) reliable magazines. Me? I sort of wanted to grab ahold of about 3-4 Glock magazines to spit them out of that Glock 18. It is hard to do when others have them preloaded in their hands. Would be nice to be able to have enough so that anyone that wants to load a few can, before they ever end up on the firing line. Also, some of the mags seemed less than reliable. The two I had trouble with I believe were some of the AK-47 magazines. Also the .40 S&W Glock mags seemed odd (as in, troublesome) to load 9mm into. 2) Possibly pay some kid $1 a magazine to reload them in advance. I believe most of use would have paid an extra $1 per magazine to have it handed to us preloaded. Example: $10 for a loaded Glock magazine. 3) Targets. If there is a way to safely shoot at reactive targets of some sort that would be great. Sure, full auto is fun, but I would like to measure accuracy in some way. Shooting at a target with hundreds of existing holes is...like beating a dead horse! Especially on the belt fed stuff. Some sort of pop up target system would be awesome. 4) Suppressors. I would have liked to have seen some suppressors set to the side for Glocks, etc. This would not only be fun but also a gateway sale for Mike at LES. I have been toying with the idea of getting into them but want a good demo of various configurations to decide if it is worth the money to me. 5) Repeal the Hughes Amendment so I can get in on the fun for the cheap:)

It was Gecko45. See, after Jade Helm Gecko45 got promoted to Top Combateer General for the National Security Mobile Task Force of Malls and other Slightly Less Crowded Places (NSMTFMSLCP) (Echo for short). See, Echo now has the ability to be to any mall in the Unite States within the hour, fully deployed with ballistic plates and armored Segways. What Gecko45 does is either sit in his safe and shiny office, surrounded with 12" of reinforced steel wedged between two 12" slabs of reinforced concrete, or he drives that vehicle your friend saw. When he is in his office he has tactical feeds to every mall and LE UAV in the country. At a moments notice he can pull up any feed and then directly tie into the comms of the task force on the ground. Recently the whole unit was also outfitted with a HUD system. This allows Gecko to basically control the task force as a RTS. He simply clicks and drags the units and points the direction they need to go, selects fire modes, prone positions, etc. This allows for greater coordination than has ever been possible. With the great mindset that Gecko has and the units on the ground willing to sacrifice themselves if directed, they are ready for any and all situations. As an interesting side note, that vehicle is outfitted with custom Kevlar interior and exterior stylings. Kevlar doors, Kevlar upholstery, Kevlar visors, even Kevlar cup holders. This was done to keep it 100% fully bulletproof against .50 BMG or anything smaller yet at the same time light enough to go 0-60 in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 220 MPH. Also the exterior of the vehicle uses a special nano coating that allows him to not only change colors on the fly but also impersonate any local LEO by matching any official logos, branding, etc at the touch of a button. I believe it also has a solar panel that makes it work as well as gives the option for solar USB charging. Could possibly be a great SHTF/Survival piece of gear, but it is expensive and likely would work slow.   I'm interested if the price comes down.

Yesterday my boss tells me that he inherited this firearm that used to be his great-grandfather's. After a quick google search we found it is likely a "Forehand & Wadsworth", a brand I have never heard of. He'd like an approximate age of the pistol. We don't think it is worth much, maybe $100-$200 bucks. But it is really neat. He is thinking of making a shadowbox with it and the leather holster he received with it as well. I told him not to try and clean it up, keep the patina, etc.
