  1. How much are these typically? May bite the bullet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Those B5 Sopmod stocks seem nice. I didn't know about them honestly until after I ordered the SL-S. The SL-S is argued by Magpul I believe to be an evolution of the Sopmod. Let me see if I can find it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Personally I'm a MagPul addict. I have an SL-S coming in later this week, it seems it was in the $50 to $60 range. I'll try and post up what I think about it. That being said, I've currently got a MFT (Mission First Tactical) Minimalist Stock. It isn't bad, I've liked it. http://www.missionfirsttactical.com/Products/Rifle-Stocks/BMSMIL-Milspec-Stock The main reason I replaced it is that I wanted a stock with some CR123 storage built-in. It generally locks up pretty solid and seems comfortable enough. If you research it and decide that it may be something you are interested in, I'd probably sell it for $50 shipped. I plan on putting it up in the classifieds for exactly that probably Saturday if not sooner. Mine essentially includes the following: http://www.missionfirsttactical.com/Products/Rifle-Stocks Although I'm unsure if the original owner bought the NRAT or simply made something similar themselves.
  5. I wish they chambered the CZ-82 in 9mm Luger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I doubt many buy these and then want to do much to them. For one, aftermarket support is a fraction of modern service pistols. Secondly, assuming it is an actual Makarov, it sort of destroys any historical interest by modifying it. I'd keep it as is, shoot it, and buy a Glock or equivalent if you to fiddle. 7. Nothing in particular. I liked the SL series that I looked at locally, and although I haven't handled an SL-S, I like the idea of it. According to a few reviews on the internet, it is supposed to lockup quite well. Ultimately I figured if I don't like it I can set it aside for trading/building later.
  8. Well, then you'll be happy to see the followup thread:
  9. Just finished my order for my AR upgrade project. Here is what I purchased Surefire M600 (I decided to go with this because it is simpler electronically than the Intellibeam version, brightness vs length over the M300 seemed worth it) MagPul M3 PMAG 10-Round (No, I haven't gone hippie on you all, I wanted something flush for use at the range) MagPul M3 PMAG 40-Round (Proof I haven't gone hippie, it's for staying in the rifle for home defense use) MagPul M-LOK Hand Stop Kit (Wanted to start here in the world of VFGs. If I like the handling of this piece, I think I'll love it) MagPul M-LOK Rail Cover Type 2 Qty:2 (Extra grip, performs as heat shield, protects expensive M-LOK forend, directly matches Hand Stop Kit) MagPul M-LOK Polymer Offset Light Mount (Chose polymer because if anything, I'd rather polymer flex a bit rather than handguard/light damage) MagPul XTM Enhanced Rail Panels Qty:2 (These were cheap, mainly for protecting the top picatinny rail and for possible cable routing in future) MagPul SL-S Carbine Stock (Holds 4 CR123 batteries, compact, supposedly great lock-up) MagPul MS4 Gen 2 Sling (Adaptable between single and double point sling, takes advantage of various QD points on rifle/stock) Basically, was able to snag all this stuff for $403.86 by really taking my time to find the best deals. I'm going to give running a weapon light a try without a tapeswitch. I probably saved at least $50 but probably actually closer to $150 by foregoing the tapeswitch setup as of now. I am able to effectively use the Surefire X300-U on my Glock 19 with my thumb, therefore with optimal placement I should be able to do the same with the M600. It should be quite a bit more rugged eliminating the cable and tapeswitch. I'm worried that the offset mount may place the light in the wrong placement. If it turns out that the offset mount I purchased makes the light awkward to activate, I may have to purchase their M-LOK Cantilever Light Mount. That may place the light too far forward though. I'm looking forward for this stuff coming in over the next few days. I'll try to post up pictures as well as a review of the setup. EDIT: Pictures!

  11. For what reasons did you go for the Intellibeam? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I agree with most of this. I already have an X300-U on my Glock 19 for carry. I thought about getting an identical one for a rifle. I think they scouts probably throw a bit further but it honestly is an option. I'd have to experiment to see if the light on the top rail would get in the way of a RDS. Honestly thought I'm getting a pretty dang good deal on a new M600 so if it is a technical better light for the application there is no reason not to get it. I had an old-school non-led Surefire on an AR at one point. I sold it in order to upgrade to LED but haven't got around to it until now. I don't mind that the light is a bit longer. Whether it works is what matters to me (not that any of the Surefire weapon lights wouldn't work). Metal rail sections. I don't mind doing this but curious to hear a pro/con argument or aluminum vs polymer. I think you may have misunderstood about the solar AA attachment. I'd primarily be buying lithium AA's for sitting around the house. But, having the ability to charge AA's using solar power in an extended SHTF scenario leaving us without power has to seem appealing to some. The Eneloops are very, very well received although I'm curious to know if recoil affects them over time. This would simply be a backup allowing for extended use without power. That being said, you can store quite a few CR123's in not that much space. It wasn't about making anything brighter. Strobing. Personally, I understand how disorienting it is as I've messed around with some handheld lights quite a bit. I don't think Surefire offers this? Perhaps Streamlight? I'd be open to it as long as the overall use was as streamlined as possible.
  13. I'm about to put a Surefire on my AR but am seeking advice from perhaps those that have used this sort of setup professionally. Here is my proposed buylist: Surefire M600 Surefire DS00 Tail-cap Switch (I like the idea of the push button functionality as well as accepting the pressure switch, but the version without the push button is cheaper and the dual version has mixed reviews) Surefire ST-07 Pressure Switch MagPul MLOK Surefire Mounting Plate Now, based on people who have had a similiar setup, I'd be curious to know the following questions? Assuming cost is negligible, any reason to go with the M300 instead of the M600? How about the M600 that adjusts brightness based on setting? As far as mounting the actual light onto the for-end, I can either take a MagPul MLOK to Picantinny rail section and then mount the Surefire mount to it, or there are other options. Does anyone have input for this? If I go rail section, is it better to do polymer or metal, MagPul sells both. I debated on getting a AA M600. It isn't as bright but one could use Eneloop Pro's in the light and then buy a solar AA charging implementation. This seems like it would be perfect in any extended period without power. Then buying an Aimpoint Comp4 (also takes AA's) and it seems a good pair. A pair of lithium AA's could be stored in the MagPul grip as a backup. CR123's are great when you have them.
  14. TN HCP list was made private a few years back wasn't it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Exactly. This was mainly a response to the "Fukushima is going to render the entire northern hemisphere uninhabitable" crowd.
  16. Something else that is interesting to think about in my opinion is the number of nuclear tests, primarily by ours truly as well as the USSR. One would think the totality of those tests would have been much more than Fukushima. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Interesting article. http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a19871/fukushima-five-years-later/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Ok, here is something many here can comment on. I'm relatively young and wasn't even alive yet when Chernobyl happened. Now, it was a different time and the internet was barely existent, but was there as much "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" over Chernobyl as there seems to be for Fukushima? There seems to be a lot of hysteria right now in certain corners, I'm merely trying to form my own opinion on whether the hysteria is warranted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The comments there are optimistic. Only, not so. Quickly turns into Agenda 21, conspiracy, etc talk.
  20. So what exactly is your opinion regarding Fukushima in terms of severity? Twice you referenced the soviet navy, perhaps insinuating that Fukushima isn't as bad as some things gone wrong in the past. Something that strikes me as interesting is that there are many claiming that the main isotopes released have relatively short half-lives, as in measured in weeks. Thoughts? The half-life's of things such as this is easy to find, what's difficult/impossible is theoretically determining which ones were being used and were therefore released.
  21. This is what was referenced. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/97624-astana/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Can't believe the thought never crossed my mind.
  23. I think I've seen that movie before or one similar. I wouldn't have been able to recognize it from the name but the description sounds very familiar.
