  1. It's frustrating because for years the ATF has upheld that 1 trigger pull = 1 bullet fired = not a machine gun. Now, I will admit that it could be argued that devices like this violate the spirit of the law, it isn't technically in violation of the law itself according to the ATF. Now, you have people on the GOP side proposing this stuff, which supposedly goes against what everyone likes the GOP for anyways. Will it affect me if they ban these stocks in any way? No, I don't plan on getting one. Would it affect me if they banned $100 Saturday night specials or $10,000 custom rifles? Not at this point in my life, but I don't want them banning anything that the constitution guarantees us in the first place. Luckily to most in this world, my opinion matters very little. If we/anyone caves into this right now, then next time someone with any clue/skill and tactical planning commits another atrocity, then we as a collective whole will have to ban something else that gave the shooter in that scenario an advantage. Next time it might be high cap magazines, detachable magazines, or combat optics (red dot, etc).
  2. Police mention the note, but not specifically what was on it: https://splinternews.com/police-reveal-that-las-vegas-gunman-stephen-paddock-lef-1819168967 It is my understanding that he was only firing for about 10 minutes. It was a good bit before responders arrived on scene. I wonder...purely hypothetical, if he had planned on shooting a bit and then disappear whenever he could, if he could. However, what he did not account for was the fire alarm going off from the smoke. The alarm may have caused him to panic and as such derailed any plans he had.
  3. Current supply and current demand vs theoretical future supply. Simple really. Also keep in mind, most of the assaults on the 2nd have included some form or fashion of a grandfather clause. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What’s more interesting to me from that article are the supposed plans for him to survive and escape. Wish we could hear more about that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. But it doesn’t matter. Even if you showed every security camera to someone dedicated to conspiracy, they can always fall back to MK Ultra. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Overall I was satisfied enough. The issue ended up being relatively minor so I believe it was addressed correctly. I have 30 days to have them come back out for the same service call, so if I see dripping anytime over that period, calling them is the first thing I'm going to do. I wasn't sure how big the thing could have turned into so I wanted a "cap" it at a theoretical $75 even if that truly isn't how it works. The plumber was exactly on time and very professional/helpful. Satisfied enough with that. I appreciate your input, there are many like you in the field but the people that are dirty, rotten, downright crooked take most of the attention in your field. Yeah, they definitely want to to make as large a profit as possible, so it doesn't take much imagining to determine how much they will fight any claim worth any notable amount of money.
  8. Here are some observations that I find interesting, nothing more. I find it interesting that he "offed" himself. I suppose he was truly terrified of being taken in alive or painfully taken out. He set up cameras to watch for the police's arrival. He shot through a door and hit a security guard. He surely would have known he would have died when the police showed up if he showed them resistance/force. I suppose I would have just assumed he would have fought it out with police until they killed him. His attire. I didn't look through all the images, only the less gruesome ones. It looked like he was wearing slacks and loafers. He did not plan on getting into any conflict at all. Even if he wanted to "blend in" with the typical Vegas scene, he could have easily put on some quality boots and more useful pants. He could have bundled them in with the weapons. So this reinforces that he truly had no interest in escaping or fighting. Referring to the theory that he was a patsy, I can see why many people are quick to gravitate towards that. Look at all the movies we have to insinuate that exact thing happens all the time! Shooter is the first and foremost that comes to mind. Create a movie about a guy that uses a precision rifle to assassinate a single target in the crowd and then sprays hundreds of bullets into the crowd immediately afterwards to mask the true goal of the thing, all the while setting someone innocent up and escaping themselves, you'd have an instant blockbuster! Unfortunately, some of these things are hard to prove/disprove due to the amount of evidence provided to us the citizenry. Can any of use analyze every camera at the hotel to determine whether anyone left the scene before police arrived? I don't think so. So anyone that wants to believe "it could have happened" can very well do just that, without any solid concrete evident directly available to contradict that theory. That is, assuming that this same person does not take the official story at its word. With that being said, assuming that a person believes the shooter and his girlfriend were actually a couple, and that he actually sent her away beforehand, that seems to indicate he foresaw something.
  9. Emphasize (How does Flightaware and aircraft registration work)? I skimmed the articles. It was sort of funny. One of them claimed that the transcript on one of the UK sites revealed that the "FBI hostage rescue" team killed the shooter. So I click the link, read the transcript, and see nothing of the sort.
  10. Furthermore, like it or not, the term "clips" is a generally accepted term both inside and outside of the gun industry. Proof? https://www.magpul.com/products/magpul-fine-cotton-banana-clips-t-shirt
  11. Sheriffs are oftentimes not even heavily involved in law enforcement but rather an elected position. Entirely possibly he knows little to nothing about guns, period. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Exactly! Since firearms are our niche, it is easy for most of us to pick out errors in the reporting. However, we very, very quickly take some/all other forms of reporting as much, much more accurate than our niche, simply because we cannot point out the errors because we simply do not see them. Ah, Crichton. What a loss he was. I remember staying up late at night finishing Sphere. What a trip that was! Forget the movie.
  13. Well, that's what I suspected as a whole. A "warranty" sounds good but is only as good as what happens when something breaks. I figured I would give them a shot. I'm not expecting anything for free, but after the ~$500 "Warranty" purchased by the seller and then the $75 from me, it isn't wrong to expect something get fixed. The more I've read, the more anxious I've become today. I give you the promise of an upcoming post later tonight to look forward to.
  14. I'm not sure what exactly we will find out or how much of it we will find out. Personally, seems to me that if he had political intentions he would/should have left a manifesto. Maybe he did and it hasn't been released/discovered yet. I read something from a psychologist earlier (Ha! I wonder if the "psychologists" are as smart as the "firearm experts" we see quoted?). He was running through the list, stating how over the years the shooter would have become more and more internally disgruntled and something pushed him over the edge. He listed one of the reasons for that as possibly being a terminal illness. I had not thought of that, but in my opinion it could fit and be a factor. Perhaps for years he had been growing hate, whether towards conservatives, country music lovers, or even Jason Aldean himself. Perhaps several months ago he found out he had a short term terminal illness and started plotting his dramatic exit from this world. His age being a data outlier could partially be explained by the occurrence of a terminal issue, and I feel likewise his age increased the likelihood of a terminal illness as well. Supposedly his brother had made a statement regarding how much he (the shooter) hated cigarette smoke. He hated it so much that he would carry a cigar with him and blow smoke in the faces of those around him when they were smoking. It takes a specific type of person to do that.
  15. http://www.hersandhisplumbing.com/chattanoogan-ga/ When my Wife and I purchased our house, the seller included a year of "Home Buyer's Insurance" through First American Home Warranty. The other day I discovered a water leak coming from behind the shower. I looked into the details of this insurance and filed a service request. I prepaid the $75.00 service fee online via credit card. Today between 2:00 and 5:00, Hers and His Plumbing is supposed to stop by. The warranty company was the one to pick the service provider (likely by low bid contract, I suspect). Now, first let me state that I have no upfront experience with this plumbing company yet, but their reviews online stink. I likely would have done the repair myself, but it is difficult to determine where the leak is coming from and I thought that for $75, if the problem was resolved it would be worth it. That is a very big if though. I'm hoping for the best buy dreading the worst. Review after review online state the plumbing company attempts to up sell you to needless repairs/code upgrades. Luckily, I have some general knowledge of plumbing overall so if they try to pull something crooked I should be able to see that. With that being said, for most services it is difficult to find honest and quality reviews online. Most reviews for any service related company are negative; People with good experiences may leave a review 1 out of 10 times while a single person with a bad experience may leave 10 reviews themselves! I'm really, really hoping to be satisfied. But I'm also prepared to just ask that the technician leave and then ask FAHW for a refund. If that doesn't work, perhaps contacting my credit card company will, who knows. Any experiences with either Hers and His or First American Home Warranty, as well as just general advice?
  16. Gotcha. The. If it isn’t a handgun, in TN it technically isn’t a carry, is it? Or does the law simply prohibit rifles and shotguns and not firearms as such? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I’m assuming that this is a pistol, especially since it has the brace and you mentioned being your “carry”. As such, wouldn’t a VFG be a “no go”? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Pure speculation, but I wonder if he thought it wise to "move" his stash to a safer location after what happened earlier this week.
  19. It is difficult to imagine whether it would be successful, but I even see Slidefire themselves being sued, as well as any other company attached to this by name in any way.
  20. You may have just clarified my above question.
  21. Ok, hopefully someone can clear something up for me. In an earlier linked article, police reportedly took 72 minutes from the first emergency call to reach the shooter's location. In the same article, it states that Paddock shot through the door when the first responders arrived. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/03/police-took-72-minutes-from-first-emergency-call-to-reach-las-vegas-shooter.html# According to this and I believe other sources (accuracy may be off), but shooting started at 10:08 PM. It supposedly stopped at 10:18. That's 10 minutes. So, what I'm trying to figure out, is why did the shooting only last for about 10 minutes and how did he only fire 200 rounds (if true)? Now, admittedly the times may not be authoritative but I'm just trying to compare the actual time he had actively firing out the windows to the actual time he had.
  22. That's pretty awesome...in a heist movie sort of way. Just goes to enforce that locks only keep honest people out. With enough planning and dedication, any security can be broken.
  23. We should all think more and post less. However, I guess my main thought regarding your statement is what exactly does "pure" America look like? If you live over near where I do but then drive 30 minutes south to Dalton, GA, it's sorta like you are in little Mexico. I went to Puerto Rico and some places there seem more "English American" than Dalton does. Many places in San Juan seem exactly as if one were sitting on the beach in Daytona. Lots of places up north are Irish or Jewish. What about Chinatown? My point is that there are tiny little subcultures everywhere. I don't think that is a bad thing. I go and enjoy the ones I want to and stay away from the ones I don't. Now, if you are referencing attempting to subvert the legal system in any way, I can agree with being against that.
  24. Also, do yourself a huge favor and find a Pakistani or Indian restaurant if you never have. I'm wagering that you won't regret it. I'm lucky that the nearest Indian restaurant is in Chattanooga (I'm in Cleveland) and about 20 minutes away. If it were much closer, that would be bad.
  25. Haha, no biggie. Just yanking your chain as well the OP's. I just don't subscribe to the entire "You must speak English and look like me as well" flavor of thought that is held by many. Ultimately, in my opinion, that train of thought is a disservice to us all really. I love how in many countries/cultures, kids by the age of 10 can speak 2+ languages in many instances. I just think that is a good thing.
