  1. This reminds me of a trick I typically do, although this deal today bested it. Anytime I'm ordering something decently priced in terms of optics, sights, etc that is available on https://swfa.com/, I typically search the internet for the absolute cheapest place I can find it, even if it is a "sketchy" site. I then submit a price match request to SWFA. They have a 110% price match guarantee. I've been able to snag a lot of items even cheaper. Example, if you weren't snagging 11% - 14% off the gift cards and the $20 coupon, lets pretend you were only getting the sight at $290. Cabela's offers free shipping. I'm just making numbers up because it is pointless to spend the time checking, but lets pretend that SWFA typically sells the same thing for $500 and has $10 shipping. $510 - $290 = $220. However, 110% of $220 is $242. SWFA then gives you that amount of their price. You'd get it for $510 - $242, or $268. So anytime you see something on a deep discount, remember you could theoretically get 110% of the discount by matching it at SWFA, they have great service and I've always been pleased. Thanks again!
  2. Finally! So, math breakdown, which I feel reflects even a truer value. $267 is what I paid for the gift cards. Assuming it works out (sometimes technical issues screw up things like Activejunky, hopefully it doesn't, but assuming it works), perhaps 6% of the total $290 (or $270 depending on how they apply it to Cabela's Bucks), that's a theoretical $17.40. I'll mark this as conditional since I haven't seen it yet. The sight was $270 out the door. So, don't remember that you still have $30 leftover in one of those gift cards. That's value. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserved, which will essentially net me 1.5% from the purchase of the $267 gift card, or basically $4.00. Assuming that the conditional Activejunky works, I'm in for the 6.5 MOA version at $267 - ($17.40 + $30.00 + $4.00), or $215.6. I'd say that works!
  3. For sure, have been. The confirmations went to my inbox, I don't suspect the others will go to spam but checking regardless.
  4. So, are you all getting the 3.5 or 6.5 versions?
  5. 40 Minutes is coming up in 2 minutes for me. Yikes!
  6. I'm not going to lie, waiting for the gift cards to be emailed vs hoping Cabela's doesn't go out of stock is quite stressful.
  7. Although, let me state that the current discount for the gift cards was only 11%. Still worth it, you are only talking about a difference of $9 on the total $300.
  8. Doing now. In the process of waiting for gift cards to be emailed. All I have to do is paste them into the payment information on Cabelas and I'm set! I find backwards ways to really swing a savings like this quite often as well. Thanks for posting. Enjoy your $10

    Target

I personally have shrapnel in my arm from what I believe originated from shooting a steel target (I am the original poster in that thread). My opinion is that one can do an unsafe thing 10,000 or even 100,000 times, all it takes is a single instance for it to harm you. It is up to the individual to determine whether the risk factor is worth it. That ordeal with the shrapnel taught me the importance of always wearing quality shooting glasses and now make sure to take my WileyX glasses with me on every range trip. A lot of people shoot steel and generally speaking, most of them are ok. I suppose the key word is "most". Anecdotally, a coworker has story about someone he used to know that apparently died from a freak ricochet. My ending opinion on the matter is that anytime you are sending hunks of metal hundreds or even thousands of feet per second downrange, the likelihood of catastrophe is there. However, that does not prevent me from enjoying myself at the range, but I do have personal issue with shooting steel targets. Not what you wanted, I know.
  10. I did not think I was going to write anything regarding this topic but I changed my mind. First and foremost, let me offer that disclaimer that I do not really spend any time watching any sport. I'm the guy that someone strikes up conversation with regarding a football game or player and I ask "which game?" or "who's that?". I also will state that I have not taken the time to specifically research the ins and outs as to why certain players/teams are protesting. So with all of that being said, let me say that I fully support them doing so. I believe many here likely, whether they realize it or not, oppose the players' protests because Trump is president. Since you see Trump as being "a good fit", you see any dissent against him or his administration as wrong/misplaced. However, let me paint a conflicting picture. To the people that are "outraged" at the players' protests, how many of you would have been equally "outraged" at any of the following? What if Tim Tebow had taken a knee in response to Obama painting the White House in rainbow colors? What if a group of players protested Obamacare, calls for gun control, etc? Now, there are many faithful and red blooded Americans that do and will always object to any objection to the flag, anthem, etc, but I bet that as you think through the list of possible reasons to "sit out" an anthem, eventually most of you will at minimum understand why someone would do such a thing. Perhaps to you, sitting out an anthem on the same day Obama painted the White House with rainbow colors would have been acceptable because to you painting the White House with rainbow colors was a direction that you did not want the country to go. My point is that in my opinion, one can protest the country, policies, leaders, administration, etc while still loving the country, servicemen and their sacrifices, etc. I do not automatically equate disrespect to the flag or any other symbol as disrespect to servicemen, their sacrifices, etc. It can, but it depends on contest based on who is doing the protesting and why they are protesting in the first place. To disagree with any of the aforementioned does not automatically give reason to leave the country and go to a place such as North Korea or Iran. You can and should be able to disagree with something and then try to encourage though, conversation, and change. In my opinion, them taking a knee during the anthem is a wonderful form of protest. It gathers attention to their issues, is nonviolent, and isn't even inconvenient to others. I would much rather see a team of NFL players taking a knee during the anthem rather than blocking a major highway, becoming violent in DC or any other major city, etc. Obviously the right to protest simply protects protest from action/persecution from the government. That's greatly covered. I also firmly believe that any private entity should be able to hire and fire at their discretion, including the topic at hand. What I personally disagree with is any private entity requiring certain motions/support of the government/flag/anthem, etc. Sure, today, perhaps it is an issue that you care little about. What about when it is tomorrow and a topic you love dearly (freedom of worship, firearms, etc)? I personally attempt to be fair minded towards all respectable forms of protest. To me that basically consists of being non-violent, keeping in mind the property rights of others, impacting the personal rights of others as little as possible, etc. Go stand in the middle of a freeway and block traffic? That's wrong. Stand in front of a tank or set oneself on fire? I respect their right to do so.

It was good stuff. Just saw this and remembered that quite a few members here drink the stuff, so just spreading this around.

  16. I myself identify as a libertarian. I’m also sure it’s fair to say that there are “looters” on the right and “honest people” on the left. Also, I imagine if every single person on this site (TGO) were thrown into a similar situation, a large percentage would do “whatever” necessary to feed your family. This would include looting/stealing food in some cases. It doesn’t make it right but in my opinion it doesn’t necessarily make it wrong either. Grocery store flooded and food going to waste? The inventory is likely insured anyway and may go bad if not consumed. I personally would turn my head to people doing this to survive. People shooting at rescuers and stealing electronics is a different story, but I think it is fair to say that the people doing this are not exclusively left, right, black, white, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. First, let me first state that I sincerely hope this is considered ok by most everyone here. I sincerely believe it brings benefit to the community here, but fully disclose that it could also bring benefit to me. I've been using "Robinhood" for about a year now. Personally, I put most of my money into ETF's and try to just let the money sit there and grow. Few people ever truly make money day trading, and even fewer people "strike it big" and get rich. To me, day trading is much like playing the lottery, although I suppose one could argue that trends/events could potentially lead the market sectors certain ways. Now, the great thing about Robinhood is that you can buy/sell stocks without fees of any kind! All of the other "big" stock trading companies charge fees of close to $10 per trade. Robinhood is free. I like this because if I want to take $10 a week and buy a stock, I can! Traditionally, you are eating into your investment/returns with trading fees. If you only invest $20 a week but $10 of that goes to fees, that's foolish! Robinhood does make money, both off the interest of the cash in your account as well as upselling you to a "Gold" level that you can use for leveraging (borrowing money to buy stock, in my opinion it's way too risky for me). Robinhood isn't a full featured as some of the bigger trading platforms, but it's tested and works to what it claims. Right now they are offering a promotion where you get free stock for signing up on an affiliate link, and for each person that signs up I would get a free stock too. Just figured I'd post here, bring some attention to what I consider a good option for investing, and see if some people here as well as myself could get a few free stock shares. I'd say most of the stock giving out are low value stocks, but it does say you have a decent chance of getting a few of the bigger ones. Join Robinhood and we'll both get a share of stock like Apple, Ford, or Sprint for free. Make sure you use my link. http://share.robinhood.com/mattheb690 I found this in their overview: The stock bonus is one share selected randomly, when the bonus criteria are met, from Robinhood’s inventory of settled shares held for this program. When shares are purchased into this inventory, Robinhood purchases shares from the three to four companies representing the highest market capitalization in various ranges of share prices between approximately $3 and $175, limited to those companies that are widely held among Robinhood accounts. There is an approximately 98% chance of the stock bonus having a value of $2.50-$10, an approximately 1% chance of the stock bonus having a value of $10-$50, and an approximately 1% chance of the stock bonus having a value of $50-$200, based on the price of shares at the time of purchase. The Robinhood platform displays approximate odds of receiving shares from particular companies at the time the screen is generated. These odds do not necessarily reflect the odds of receiving stock in those companies at the time the stock bonus is awarded.

  22. Some vaccines may be unneeded, but I find it ironic that there is definite proof that some vaccines have saved countless lives. Other vaccines serve in my opinion as more of a convenience. I got a chicken pox vaccine as a child. My Wife didn't. She got the chicken pox at a young age, which was "bearable" in the grand scheme of things. She got shingles when she was about 19. My understanding is that in order to get shingles, you have to have had the chicken pox. Thus it is also my understanding that I cannot get shingles as I never had chicken pox. Shingles can be very damaging depending on where it occurs. Hers was on her shoulder so it was relatively safe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. Leaving out later this week. Going to try to be smart and safe about everything. Any places on a map to definitely avoid, things to watch out for, and things to do/not do? Staying in :Rincon and Mata de Plátano I was also trying to lookup knife carry laws. I've ran into a bunch of different stuff. I've found this, referencing PR law: http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/USKnife2.pdf 25-Sub 1-Part V-Chpt 51A Sub V- § 458d I'm trying to find something to describes more details.
