  1. Exactly! Since firearms are our niche, it is easy for most of us to pick out errors in the reporting. However, we very, very quickly take some/all other forms of reporting as much, much more accurate than our niche, simply because we cannot point out the errors because we simply do not see them. Ah, Crichton. What a loss he was. I remember staying up late at night finishing Sphere. What a trip that was! Forget the movie.
  2. Well, that's what I suspected as a whole. A "warranty" sounds good but is only as good as what happens when something breaks. I figured I would give them a shot. I'm not expecting anything for free, but after the ~$500 "Warranty" purchased by the seller and then the $75 from me, it isn't wrong to expect something get fixed. The more I've read, the more anxious I've become today. I give you the promise of an upcoming post later tonight to look forward to.
  3. I'm not sure what exactly we will find out or how much of it we will find out. Personally, seems to me that if he had political intentions he would/should have left a manifesto. Maybe he did and it hasn't been released/discovered yet. I read something from a psychologist earlier (Ha! I wonder if the "psychologists" are as smart as the "firearm experts" we see quoted?). He was running through the list, stating how over the years the shooter would have become more and more internally disgruntled and something pushed him over the edge. He listed one of the reasons for that as possibly being a terminal illness. I had not thought of that, but in my opinion it could fit and be a factor. Perhaps for years he had been growing hate, whether towards conservatives, country music lovers, or even Jason Aldean himself. Perhaps several months ago he found out he had a short term terminal illness and started plotting his dramatic exit from this world. His age being a data outlier could partially be explained by the occurrence of a terminal issue, and I feel likewise his age increased the likelihood of a terminal illness as well. Supposedly his brother had made a statement regarding how much he (the shooter) hated cigarette smoke. He hated it so much that he would carry a cigar with him and blow smoke in the faces of those around him when they were smoking. It takes a specific type of person to do that.
  4. http://www.hersandhisplumbing.com/chattanoogan-ga/ When my Wife and I purchased our house, the seller included a year of "Home Buyer's Insurance" through First American Home Warranty. The other day I discovered a water leak coming from behind the shower. I looked into the details of this insurance and filed a service request. I prepaid the $75.00 service fee online via credit card. Today between 2:00 and 5:00, Hers and His Plumbing is supposed to stop by. The warranty company was the one to pick the service provider (likely by low bid contract, I suspect). Now, first let me state that I have no upfront experience with this plumbing company yet, but their reviews online stink. I likely would have done the repair myself, but it is difficult to determine where the leak is coming from and I thought that for $75, if the problem was resolved it would be worth it. That is a very big if though. I'm hoping for the best buy dreading the worst. Review after review online state the plumbing company attempts to up sell you to needless repairs/code upgrades. Luckily, I have some general knowledge of plumbing overall so if they try to pull something crooked I should be able to see that. With that being said, for most services it is difficult to find honest and quality reviews online. Most reviews for any service related company are negative; People with good experiences may leave a review 1 out of 10 times while a single person with a bad experience may leave 10 reviews themselves! I'm really, really hoping to be satisfied. But I'm also prepared to just ask that the technician leave and then ask FAHW for a refund. If that doesn't work, perhaps contacting my credit card company will, who knows. Any experiences with either Hers and His or First American Home Warranty, as well as just general advice?
  5. Gotcha. The. If it isn’t a handgun, in TN it technically isn’t a carry, is it? Or does the law simply prohibit rifles and shotguns and not firearms as such? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I’m assuming that this is a pistol, especially since it has the brace and you mentioned being your “carry”. As such, wouldn’t a VFG be a “no go”? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Pure speculation, but I wonder if he thought it wise to "move" his stash to a safer location after what happened earlier this week.
  8. It is difficult to imagine whether it would be successful, but I even see Slidefire themselves being sued, as well as any other company attached to this by name in any way.
  9. You may have just clarified my above question.
  10. Ok, hopefully someone can clear something up for me. In an earlier linked article, police reportedly took 72 minutes from the first emergency call to reach the shooter's location. In the same article, it states that Paddock shot through the door when the first responders arrived. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/03/police-took-72-minutes-from-first-emergency-call-to-reach-las-vegas-shooter.html# According to this and I believe other sources (accuracy may be off), but shooting started at 10:08 PM. It supposedly stopped at 10:18. That's 10 minutes. So, what I'm trying to figure out, is why did the shooting only last for about 10 minutes and how did he only fire 200 rounds (if true)? Now, admittedly the times may not be authoritative but I'm just trying to compare the actual time he had actively firing out the windows to the actual time he had.
  11. That's pretty awesome...in a heist movie sort of way. Just goes to enforce that locks only keep honest people out. With enough planning and dedication, any security can be broken.
  12. We should all think more and post less. However, I guess my main thought regarding your statement is what exactly does "pure" America look like? If you live over near where I do but then drive 30 minutes south to Dalton, GA, it's sorta like you are in little Mexico. I went to Puerto Rico and some places there seem more "English American" than Dalton does. Many places in San Juan seem exactly as if one were sitting on the beach in Daytona. Lots of places up north are Irish or Jewish. What about Chinatown? My point is that there are tiny little subcultures everywhere. I don't think that is a bad thing. I go and enjoy the ones I want to and stay away from the ones I don't. Now, if you are referencing attempting to subvert the legal system in any way, I can agree with being against that.
  13. Also, do yourself a huge favor and find a Pakistani or Indian restaurant if you never have. I'm wagering that you won't regret it. I'm lucky that the nearest Indian restaurant is in Chattanooga (I'm in Cleveland) and about 20 minutes away. If it were much closer, that would be bad.
  14. Haha, no biggie. Just yanking your chain as well the OP's. I just don't subscribe to the entire "You must speak English and look like me as well" flavor of thought that is held by many. Ultimately, in my opinion, that train of thought is a disservice to us all really. I love how in many countries/cultures, kids by the age of 10 can speak 2+ languages in many instances. I just think that is a good thing.
  15. At places near the U.S.-Mexico border, some signs are bilingual in English and Spanish,[citation needed] and some signs near the U.S.-Canada border are bilingual in English and French.[citation needed] Additionally, large urban centers such as New York City, Chicago and others have bilingual and multilingual signage at major destinations.[citation needed] There are a few English and Russian bilingual signs in western Alaska.[citation needed] In Texas, some signs are required to be in English and Spanish. In Texas areas where there are large numbers of Spanish speakers, many official signs as well as unofficial signs (e.g. stores, churches, billboards) are written in Spanish, some bilingual with English, but others in Spanish only.In 2016, Port Angeles, Washington installed bilingual signs in English and the indigenous Klallam languages to preserve and revitalize the area's Klallam culture.[9] Well...I suppose that depends on where you live. The US doesn't have an official language, although earlier this year a bill was introduced making English so. However, it hasn't really went anywhere: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/997

  18. Ok. I recognize this. KZ106, I don’t miss you (ok, like the music they play on there, just seems like they place the same 50 songs on repeat every single day). My parents had that station on all the time. I don’t miss listening to it even though I like the genre. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have heard the name but admit I cannot specifically pinpoint any of his songs. And I generally like music from the time period! In light of everything else today, I’m firing up that exact album on Apple Music. Seems like a positive thing to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. LINKS2K is very right, maybe more so that he knows. I was born in ‘90, so my firsthand knowledge only goes so far back. Guess what? The government was supposed to declare martial law under G.W., Obama, and also already under Trump. Depends on who you listen to under which term. I remember the left claiming it about Bush. I remember the right doing so under Obama. If Obama won that was supposed to start a race war. If he lost, it was also supposed to start one. I won’t deny that things are tense in certain aspects. Many people I work with suggest the country has never been more divided. I always like to respond by asking them if we were more or less divided during the Civil War. The point is, and my only point of this post, is that fear does sell. Whether it is Jones selling his flavor of Koolaid, Fox News or CNN theirs, its all still Koolaid and really bad for you when drunken too richly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thought so. Concerned about it at all? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Well, if 500+ people were counted as casualties, some of those people may have sprained an ankle while running, etc. Some of them would have likely just been nicked with a round on a leg/arm, etc and that bullet would still have had enough energy to harm the person behind them as well. However, 200 rounds seems low compared to the reports of multiple rifles, etc. Also, an M-16 has a rate of fire of about 700–950 rounds/min cyclic. If he truly was using a trigger crank mechanism, I imagine the cyclic rate would be lower but still in the hundreds. Even accounting for mag and possibly weapon changes, it seems he would have burned through 200 rounds in a matter of a moment or two. So with that said, who has found any reputable source for exactly how long, from start to the last shot, that he was shooting?
  23. Yeah, I saw about some of his divorce. I just wasn't sure if you meant he was getting more or less out there. I mean, he can't claim this was a false flag can he? If he did, it would mean Trump was behind it.
  24. He was a member that was on TGO until he got banned. Spouted a bunch of Christian Identity stuff and I was wondering if that was whom you referenced earlier in the thread.
