  1. If we come over, does that mean free stakes and obviously butter?
  2. Eh. Most of us are the same (but smart) people posting repeatedly, so really its more like a page worth of people. Also, if and only if, all of the moderators unite and attempt to ban @TGO David, would it be possible?
  3. That may be true, but after being told by police that a fleeing felon was armed and dangerous, I do see why everyone had reason to believe that this person was armed. As anyone familiar with carrying a firearm daily already knows, it is incredibly easy to be armed and not appear that you are armed. The jury seemingly did not think that the shooting was covered under self defense. If Treuchet was at one point following the suspect with his dozer and then exited the dozer with his firearm, that does mostly eliminate any claim to self defense. He could have went the other way and left it at that. Cops likely would have found him a bit later. He was likely pumped up with some adrenaline, eager to "help", and did what he thought was "helping" even though that has been judged to have been murder. However, if and only if, the suspect was charging his dozer, to me that is grounds for self defense. It doesn't matter to what extent the suspect was armed or not armed, if someone could gain physical access to the cab of the dozer, they could potentially harm or kill the driver (in this case, the defendant). The defendant himself is an older gentlemen, the dead was in his 20's. Even a screwdriver could have been deadly. Pair this with the fact the police warned everyone the suspect was armed and dangerous. If he charged the dozer, and that could be proven, I don't think I could have found the shooter guilty had I been on the jury. Although this pertains to law enforcement exponentially more than civilians, what about the Fleeing Felon Rule (or Tennessee vs. Garner? If the police were on the ground and a dangerous suspect fleeing gave them enough reason to believe he would be a risk to other innocents, TN vs. Garner says they can use up to deadly force to stop the suspect. I've always wondered to what extent that theory of thought would be transferred to a civilian case. Imagine it's 3:00pm, some guy comes and busts down your door. You immediately respond with a shotgun, he starts running away but you see him running down the street with a gun in his hand. You have no reason to believe he is anymore a direct threat to you as he is running 180 degrees away from you. However, after just seeing him bust down your door and now he is running away, visibly armed, you shoot him because you feel he is a potential harm to someone else in the vicinity.
  4. I do like most steaks medium to medium rare (with an applicable char on the outside). That being true, I cannot bring myself to trying steak tartar. I love sushi. I'll eat (quality, of course) raw fillets (sashimi) with nothing else. I love it. But tartar? Uh.
  5. This thing? Interesting. Not for meat (directly), but I've always wanted one of these. You put it on your grill (or in the oven, I suppose) and get it really hot. Then you use a pizza peel and place the pizza on the "stone". I've never tried it, but what I've read is that it works very, very well for making good crusts.
  6. May not be admissable unless you can prove he was the one that typed it.
  7. Yeah, I addressed that too above. If he was at any point chasing the guy or getting out of the dozer with a gun, seems that does take away the majority of any claim of "self defense" but rather vigilantism. Either way, thought he was doing a good thing, they even took a picture because they thought he was going to be a hero for a day. For those than can learn without doing, let this serve as a major life lesson.
  8. Instead of all the boasting and taunting as if he were playing Call of Duty, if he had simply said "I really, really hope we don't run into this guy today; I don't want to shoot anyone", he probably would not have been found guilty if there was ANY reason that he should fear for his life. However, I still get hung up on the following line from the article: Witnesses say police told them Headley was armed and dangerous that day. Is that not reason enough to fear for your life? After being told about this guy running from police for three counties and that he is armed and dangerous, I think I would certainly be on edge.
  9. A lot in that post does seem to reinforce many details of what I had heard. However, it doesn't say anything about the shooter being charged but rather he may have been following the guy. Also, if nothing else everyone should take from this the extreme value of keeping your mouth shut.
  10. Hey, everyone deserves a trial by a jury of their peers. How do we know these absurd allegations against him are true? Also, everyone has a right to face his/her accuser.
  11. That, and a decent 1/3 serving of saying and doing stupid things. Had he never "boasted up" beforehand and then took a "victory photo" afterwards, any defense would have had an easier job defending him.
  12. This hits close to home. Take all of this with grains of salt, it was information passed along to me from my father, who works for the company that was involved in doing work at the landfill. From what I've been told, the cops came in, pulled everyone off the job site for a while warned them about the fugitive on the run, and then eventually let everyone go back to work. However, the cops supposedly warned everyone that this man was armed and dangerous. In my mind, this statement likely put everyone in a certain mindset. At some point, supposedly the guy charged the above mentioned man's dozer. If the two factors I've mentioned are true (cops saying he was armed and dangerous + suspect charging man's dozer), this does seem as if it is dangerously grey. When this first happened, I figured the man recently found guilty would be found innocent. I cannot deny that it is likely that many people on the job site didn't have a "lets get him" attitude. However, what if the man had instead charged a police officer's car and the officer had shot him? Would the outcome be the same? Again, I don't know how much of that is true, purely speculation at this point.
  13. Also, FYI, a felon is someone with felonies. As in, you keep saying he has felons but she doesn't have felons, but what you really mean is whether or not they have felonies.
  14. And although the chances of any of the following are unlikely, they are possible and let me also state that stranger things have happened. What if by chance the he or her were a member here. Let us not be naive against the fact that a lot of felons thrive on gun-trader types of setups. Lets imagine that he was a member here simply to look for guns to buy. He sees the post you created and realizes that it is them that you are talking about. He uses that piece of information to retaliate against her for being dumb (literally, why would she confess all of that stuff?) and then hide any incriminating evidence. You finally get around to doing whatever it is that you are going to do, the cops go investigate, and there is no evidence of drugs or firearms to be found since you unknowingly gave them a weeks head notice. I am very tempted to hide this thread. Multiple times it has been suggested what to do. It is my opinion that you are simply (potentially) making matters worse for you by discussing it on this public forum.
  15. Simply pickup the phone and call the local non emergency number for the police. Tell them you'd like to report suspected theft, drug use, and felony possession of firearms. I guarantee you that if they aren't who you should talk to, they will very quickly transfer you to that person... That's it. Do it from a payphone if you wish. In my opinion, you are severely overthinking this if this is something you indeed wish to do.
  16. This is an odd thread. I'd nearly think it wasn't serious but by all accounts you seem serious. It seems the simple thing to do, if you wish, is simply pickup the phone and call the local non emergency number for the police. Tell them you'd like to report suspected theft, drug use, and felony possession of firearms. I guarantee you that if they aren't who you should talk to, they will very quickly transfer you to that person... All in all...be careful.Personally, posting about it on a public forum in my opinion isn't the best thing to do.
  17. Dang. Was hoping for more.
  18. Main thing I don’t like it is it carries upside down.
  19. Yes. Can get non serrated versions.
  20. That's to an extent what I feared. I've read that the assisted ("FAST") models are I believe Chinese manufactured. Their autos are supposed to be USA manufactured and higher quality. But I might as well stick to a brand known better for high quality.
  21. After more thought, if possible, a .300 blackout barrel on one of these threaded for a suppressor would be sweet.
  22. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/12/chris-dumm/obscure-object-desire-magnum-research-lone-eagle/
  23. Huh. Never heard of these before today. Traded something to a coworker and now have one chambered in .223. Who knows much about them? Value? I think, originally, they retailed around $375 but that was a number of years ago. Honestly, I'm kinda super excited to go shoot it. It just seems...unique.+
  24. Let me state that I prefer tip up carry, which it seems the Gerber posted does not allow.
  25. I have in mind to purchase a new knife. I've been carrying a SOG Trident on and off for about 11 years. Overall, it's held up well; I just want something different. https://www.gerbergear.com/Knives/Automatic/Covert-Auto-Tactical-Grey-Black-Oxide-Fine-Edge_30-001306 I think I want that. It isn't too outrageously expensive. Automatic, SV30 steel. I like the handle/blade profile. I think I want a straight edge blade with no serrations, I've had serrations on my SOG and generally always wished I had something without. You can get the above knife for about $125 online. I'm posting this for two-fold: Are Gerber's Auto knives known for being high quality? What other similar options should I consider? I know Benchmade has a similar knife based on a Pardue design: http://www.benchmade.com/automatic-knives/stimulus-family.html I'd be interested in it as well, more expensive. Shorter blade, 154CM steel. Likely higher quality overall, unsure? I'm not 100% fixed on getting an auto, assisted would likely be just as handy. Just curious and open to suggestions.
