  1. This thing? Interesting. Not for meat (directly), but I've always wanted one of these. You put it on your grill (or in the oven, I suppose) and get it really hot. Then you use a pizza peel and place the pizza on the "stone". I've never tried it, but what I've read is that it works very, very well for making good crusts.
  2. May not be admissable unless you can prove he was the one that typed it.
  3. Yeah, I addressed that too above. If he was at any point chasing the guy or getting out of the dozer with a gun, seems that does take away the majority of any claim of "self defense" but rather vigilantism. Either way, thought he was doing a good thing, they even took a picture because they thought he was going to be a hero for a day. For those than can learn without doing, let this serve as a major life lesson.
  4. Instead of all the boasting and taunting as if he were playing Call of Duty, if he had simply said "I really, really hope we don't run into this guy today; I don't want to shoot anyone", he probably would not have been found guilty if there was ANY reason that he should fear for his life. However, I still get hung up on the following line from the article: Witnesses say police told them Headley was armed and dangerous that day. Is that not reason enough to fear for your life? After being told about this guy running from police for three counties and that he is armed and dangerous, I think I would certainly be on edge.
  5. A lot in that post does seem to reinforce many details of what I had heard. However, it doesn't say anything about the shooter being charged but rather he may have been following the guy. Also, if nothing else everyone should take from this the extreme value of keeping your mouth shut.
  6. Hey, everyone deserves a trial by a jury of their peers. How do we know these absurd allegations against him are true? Also, everyone has a right to face his/her accuser.
  7. That, and a decent 1/3 serving of saying and doing stupid things. Had he never "boasted up" beforehand and then took a "victory photo" afterwards, any defense would have had an easier job defending him.
  8. This hits close to home. Take all of this with grains of salt, it was information passed along to me from my father, who works for the company that was involved in doing work at the landfill. From what I've been told, the cops came in, pulled everyone off the job site for a while warned them about the fugitive on the run, and then eventually let everyone go back to work. However, the cops supposedly warned everyone that this man was armed and dangerous. In my mind, this statement likely put everyone in a certain mindset. At some point, supposedly the guy charged the above mentioned man's dozer. If the two factors I've mentioned are true (cops saying he was armed and dangerous + suspect charging man's dozer), this does seem as if it is dangerously grey. When this first happened, I figured the man recently found guilty would be found innocent. I cannot deny that it is likely that many people on the job site didn't have a "lets get him" attitude. However, what if the man had instead charged a police officer's car and the officer had shot him? Would the outcome be the same? Again, I don't know how much of that is true, purely speculation at this point.
  9. Also, FYI, a felon is someone with felonies. As in, you keep saying he has felons but she doesn't have felons, but what you really mean is whether or not they have felonies.
  10. And although the chances of any of the following are unlikely, they are possible and let me also state that stranger things have happened. What if by chance the he or her were a member here. Let us not be naive against the fact that a lot of felons thrive on gun-trader types of setups. Lets imagine that he was a member here simply to look for guns to buy. He sees the post you created and realizes that it is them that you are talking about. He uses that piece of information to retaliate against her for being dumb (literally, why would she confess all of that stuff?) and then hide any incriminating evidence. You finally get around to doing whatever it is that you are going to do, the cops go investigate, and there is no evidence of drugs or firearms to be found since you unknowingly gave them a weeks head notice. I am very tempted to hide this thread. Multiple times it has been suggested what to do. It is my opinion that you are simply (potentially) making matters worse for you by discussing it on this public forum.
  11. Simply pickup the phone and call the local non emergency number for the police. Tell them you'd like to report suspected theft, drug use, and felony possession of firearms. I guarantee you that if they aren't who you should talk to, they will very quickly transfer you to that person... That's it. Do it from a payphone if you wish. In my opinion, you are severely overthinking this if this is something you indeed wish to do.
  12. This is an odd thread. I'd nearly think it wasn't serious but by all accounts you seem serious. It seems the simple thing to do, if you wish, is simply pickup the phone and call the local non emergency number for the police. Tell them you'd like to report suspected theft, drug use, and felony possession of firearms. I guarantee you that if they aren't who you should talk to, they will very quickly transfer you to that person... All in all...be careful.Personally, posting about it on a public forum in my opinion isn't the best thing to do.
  13. Main thing I don’t like it is it carries upside down.
  14. That's to an extent what I feared. I've read that the assisted ("FAST") models are I believe Chinese manufactured. Their autos are supposed to be USA manufactured and higher quality. But I might as well stick to a brand known better for high quality.
  15. After more thought, if possible, a .300 blackout barrel on one of these threaded for a suppressor would be sweet.
  16. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/12/chris-dumm/obscure-object-desire-magnum-research-lone-eagle/
  17. Huh. Never heard of these before today. Traded something to a coworker and now have one chambered in .223. Who knows much about them? Value? I think, originally, they retailed around $375 but that was a number of years ago. Honestly, I'm kinda super excited to go shoot it. It just seems...unique.+
  18. Let me state that I prefer tip up carry, which it seems the Gerber posted does not allow.
  19. I have in mind to purchase a new knife. I've been carrying a SOG Trident on and off for about 11 years. Overall, it's held up well; I just want something different. https://www.gerbergear.com/Knives/Automatic/Covert-Auto-Tactical-Grey-Black-Oxide-Fine-Edge_30-001306 I think I want that. It isn't too outrageously expensive. Automatic, SV30 steel. I like the handle/blade profile. I think I want a straight edge blade with no serrations, I've had serrations on my SOG and generally always wished I had something without. You can get the above knife for about $125 online. I'm posting this for two-fold: Are Gerber's Auto knives known for being high quality? What other similar options should I consider? I know Benchmade has a similar knife based on a Pardue design: http://www.benchmade.com/automatic-knives/stimulus-family.html I'd be interested in it as well, more expensive. Shorter blade, 154CM steel. Likely higher quality overall, unsure? I'm not 100% fixed on getting an auto, assisted would likely be just as handy. Just curious and open to suggestions.
  20. This is a large part of an "an issue". Not "the" issue or "this issue" even, but "an issue". I'm 27, I don't know which generation that does or does not make me. I don't really care. I'm not defined by whatever that generation is, but I've been told by numerous people that I'm an "exception" to whatever "my generation" is. Ok, cool I guess, I just wanted to be successful so I've tried to do so over the years. However, know what? It isn't all my doing, in fact it wouldn't be fair in my opinion to say any of it is my doing. I was blessed being born in this country. In the "lottery of life", I could have been born to any third world country without electricity and running water; I doubt I'd be where I were today if that was the case. I'm not attempting to bring gender or race into this reply, but I will admit that being a white male has likely given me a lot of opportunities as well. Having two parents that are still married helped me out a lot as well. Having parents that were able to purchase a vehicle when I was 16 helped me out a lot. Heck, even learning how to drive helped me out a lot because apparently I've met a several people over the past couple of years that are my age but cannot drive and do not/have not had a driver's license. Their fault? To some extent. But if you were to consider their upbringing and situations, then I think you'd be able to dismiss at least some of it as not being their fault. Try to get a quality job (even with a college degree, as one of their cases) without a drivers license around here. Sometimes. I still consider myself "younger" at 27 (and am trying to hold on to that feeling for at least another 10 years). A lot of people I've met are indeed blind to many of these differences, but one thing I've noticed is that a seemingly large proportion of these people that are "open-minded" are only "open-minded" to people that agree with them perfectly. As an example, an extremely "open-minded" or "blind to differences" person may be 100% ugly towards a gun owner. Or, I will tread very carefully with the following but how often is it seen "extremely open minded people" that are in support of topics such as homosexual marriage but they lash out towards anyone that doesn't fully support their ideas and call these people bigots, etc? In my opinion, being open minded isn't a bad thing per se, but it goes beyond being accepting of the "hot topics" such as and not limited to: lgbt, race, religion, gender, etc. Being "open minded" means also accepting the people that may not agree with you on those issues as well. If someone's actions are filled with hate, then I understand not accepting them/their viewpoint. But if the sole issue is that someone isn't "as accepting" as you, don't hate that person just because they don't agree with you. I won't get into specifics, but over the years we've seen many, many posts and threads that are rather quite anti-gay, pro white, anti-muslim, etc and etc. We don't "need to know" any of those details about a specific member; if any of the members of any of those groups were to join TGO today and find many posts that were "against" them, I don't think it matters whether or not we know those details or not. That person is not going to feel included in our community. That is also why it is extremely important that the staff here at TGO shut threads like that down ASAP and try to prevent them going in that direction in the first place. Myself, living in eastern TN (Bradley County) with the neighboring Polk County, I will try very much to be extremely tactful in what I'm about to say. Wikipedia shows that Bradley County is 92.98% white. I'll let you do the math for the other people in Bradley County. As such, going to school I was generally limited in my exposure to other ethnicities, period. Once you consider the percentages of white people in our county, I suspect it is decently easy to extrapolate from that data the percentages of difference races at my employer. I myself attempt very much not to have prejudices against any kind against groups of people, but it is not as easy as simply trying. Due to the general environment and my upbringing, I'll admit that I have certain "biases". It is difficult to rid oneself of such biases. I think that the majority of people have certain biases, whether it be regarding race, religion, etc. I say all of this to say (in response to your question). Yes, I've been somewhere I felt that I didn't belong. My Wife and I were flying out of Atlanta, we know almost nothing about Atlanta. As such, we stopped at some Chipotle. As tactful as possible, I will simply say that out of a room of roughly 50 people, my Wife and I were the only white people there. Period. I can honestly say I think this was the first time in my life I had ever experienced something such as that. I firmly believe that some people would have turned around and left. I tried to use it as a learning experience. I wondered if the way I felt at that moment was what it was like to be any of the "other" races in my home county (oftentimes being the only non-white person in any group setting). We ordered and ate, and ultimately had a good time. Most people were friendly and not a single "bad experience", but the feeling was one as if we didn't belong. We don't want new members to either TGO or the firearm community as a whole to feel that way. Some people here at TGO get that, many do not I fear. To those completely clueless as to what this entire thread is "about", consider the following, all of which are just made up in my head by me. A homosexual person showing up into a gun-store for their first time, and then being bombarded with a poster on the wall stating "Marriage = 1 Man + 1 Woman" and overhearing the employees talk about "them faggots". Perhaps that person is there to purchase a firearm to protect their loved ones, knows nothing about firearms, and ultimately leaves because they didn't feel they were welcome. Any female that agrees to go to the range with one of their gun-guy guy friends and is in any way belittled over "being a woman" and any of the stereotypes that are typical when it comes to women and firearms. A Muslim whom shows up to take his (or her) class to get an HCP but is shown extreme prejudice during the class from the other students. How likely is it that any of these people dissociate from the firearm community as a whole? There are many people in the firearm community, many of you know someone like this and I fear that some of or members here may themselves be very close to this mindset, that simply do not care if other "groups" of people make their way into the firearm community and are accepted. Well, that is simply hurting the firearm industry as a whole. As a completely different topic, one thing I've been doing over the previous few months is reading articles on "The Root", which describes itself as "Black news, opinions, politics and culture". It has a very liberal bias. I do not agree with many of the articles. However, what is allows me to do is read directly from the source what the "other side" is thinking and feeling. I cannot discredit their thoughts and feelings. It allows me to consider things from their perspective. I have really enjoyed doing so, simply for the reasons stated above. https://www.theroot.com/
  21. It's very reasonable to hope that this thread never dies. Not quite sure of the "bump" from earlier today, most of the time it is someone that goes to Google, finds this thread, joins TGO, and then posts on this thread as if it were created a week ago. Bumping for the pure purpose of bumping? Seems a bit like schadenfreude to me.
  22. True, but the correlation goes both ways. People who have extreme emotional baggage/issues and are depressed/suicidal are more likely to abuse drugs.
