  1. Ask him if they can copy the Raven Concealment Phantom LC as much as possible. No really. See the thread I’m complaining about it in.
  2. Yep. And although there are some that come close, it seems nobody is quite "there". At least I haven't found it yet. So, Raven went from being my favorite holster manufacturer to just like any of the other "regular" holsters. Too bad.
  3. I think so. I haven't read that in an official manner. I picked that up from...this thread. It might not have happened that way.
  4. It sucks. Because seemingly she herself wasn't up to "mischief", rather just made a poor judgement call and decision. Someone lost their life because of that. I'm not saying she should go free; Actions have consequences. I am also saying, it if you picked 100 random TGO members and put them in the "same situation" (on an apartment floor that looks just like yours, but it isn't) coupled with a door and surroundings that match your floor, I feel, like it would be a non-zero number regarding the number of members who would react somewhat in a similar manner as she did when someone you don't recognize opens the door to the apartment you are confident is yours.
  5. Agreed that it was much better being an "accident' rather than "on purpose". Glad you used it as a teaching moment for the kid. Dependent upon the age, if nobody ever taught him any sort of safety, how would he know?
  6. Checked with "High Noon Holsters". They declined to make anything for my combo.
  7. I am in no way excusing the actions of the officer; She messed up big time and it cost someone their (innocent) life. However, I do have a story. One time when going to the local community college, I got out of class and walked outside to my vehicle. I went, got in my 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. As I opened to door, I thought "oh crap, someone bust my driver side mirror". Then I sat there and realized someone had strewn some of my cds all around, and realized that they must have gotten inside somehow. Then I realized that in their mischief, they not only stole my radio but replaced it with a different one. I'll let anyone smart figure out what happened. The point is, in about 10 seconds, I was very, very confused. This was in broad daylight. I eventually figured it out, but it did take 5-10 seconds. The similarities were there. Enough similarities to recreate the feel of being in my Blazer, after someone "tampered" with it. I imagine, with or without alcohol or drugs in the system, depending on the time of day and dependent upon the layout of the apartment complex, it is probably that in the right circumstances any of us placed in the apartment scenario could have at minimum mistook the resident as "an intruder". A lot of these apartment complexes are built 100% exactly the same floor by floor. If the officer was busy (talking on the phone, talking to a friend, texting, reading something, etc), and accidentally got off the wrong elevator floor or walked too few or too many staircases, it's possible she was on a floor that looked exactly like hers but was +1 or -1. The same room +1 or -1 floor would look exactly the same. Without paying specific attention to the room number, she had every reason to think the room was hers. The "key not working" coupled with the fact that someone opened the door that she did not recognize would reinforce the feelings that someone had tampered with her door and gained access (as in, got inside and either purposefully or accidentally disabled the keyhole). It's possible that inside the apartment the walls/entry way would be uniform, so it may not have stood out that it "wasn't her apartment". Again, I'm not excusing her actions at all. She made a grave mistake and someone is dead because of it. But I know how it is possible to, for about 5-10 seconds, become completely confused as to where you are vs where you think you are.
  8. So, first let me state that for about 5 years I've been carrying a Glock 19 with Surefire X300A attached in a Raven Concealment Phantom LC IWB holster. 9/10 times, I would tell you that the holster was comfortable. I carry about 3 O'Clock to 5 O'Clock. However, I recently decided to switch things up so I'm selling the holster on Ebay, already sold the Surefire. I purchased a Streamlight TLR-7 and a Squared Away Customers "Zulu" holster. I have not yet received it. Since it was ready to ship, I recently purchased a DSG Holster: https://dsgarms.com/glock-19-23-32-with-tlr-7-8-iwb-holster-dsg11120022 I carried with it for the first real time yesterday. In my opinion, it left so much to be desired. Maybe it is just me, but it was more uncomfortable than the much larger Raven I used to carry with. I suspect it is because a bit of extra skin (yeah...I'll put it that way) causes the top of the gun to tilt outward and then then muzzle end of the gun/holster package gets pushed directly into my hip. I think the Raven was more comfortable because the larger, "flatter" size of the holster prevented the top of the holster from "tilting out", thus preventing a "pressure point" near the muzzle. Also, with the Raven, the "lines" of the gun were more broken, with the DSG the general shape of the gun (slide and frame) are pretty well preserved, and thus creating a shape of "a gun" instead of "a flat gun" against my body. This isn't the first time I have ever noticed this. I tried a Raven Concealment Vanguard one time. All it does is safely cover the trigger and leaves the frame, slide exposed. I had the exact same issues with this. Now, I am really hoping to like the Squared Away Customs holster I purchased. If nothing else, the fit and finish should be much better than the DSR holster. I purchased it with the "Soft Loops", as in my opinion a/the clips found on a lot of holsters seem to let things "shift around" too much. I have always carried with the soft loops and prefer them immensely. I am severely disappointed that Raven discontinued their Phantom/Phantom LC line. In my opinion, they were some of the best holsters on the market, period. I spent a bit of time last night reading a thread on Arfcom about the holsters and the owner of Raven Concealment kept chiming in. Ultimately, it seems they moved away from customer kydex and into injection molded holsters to "increase lead times", especially for "large government contracts". That's all marketing speak for "reducing costs and maximizing profits" in case you couldn't tell. They heavily, heavily push their "Perun" holster now. I'm not saying it isn't a nice holster, but it is nowhere near a "better holster than the Phantom in every way" that the owner seems to want to promote. For starters, to my knowledge, the Perun cannot be converted to IWB. I'll admit, simply because it is Raven and they do have a history of doing things well, I may give the Perun a try. I have truly never tried to conceal with an OWB holster. I imagine it'd be very easy in winter. Summer? Maybe, maybe not. I imagine it is more comfortable most of the time than IWB. But I feel like, in most cases, printing would be exponentially higher. I feel like I am now holster-less. I've looked at quite a few customer kydex manufacturers, some of them come close but it doesn't seem any of them create a holster than is nearly an exact match to the Phantom LC. If I'm not head over heals regarding the Squared Away Zulu, I may send photos of the Phantom LC to a few various kydex holster makers and ask them how close to that they could get. I also have in mind to perhaps try leather again (I started carrying with a "High Noon Holsters" with my CZ P-01. That was...6 years ago! Ultimately, the leather was of course pretty comfortable. I do prefer a lot of what kydex has to offer, but maybe leather is where I should go now. I am also open to one of the hybrid holsters such as Comp-Tac, etc. I have never been super crazy about the idea of them but I might be surprised.
  9. I am...closely one of those people. I want it cooked on the inside and medium/medium rare on the inside. Yum. yum:)
  10. What are you all talking about? That's well cooked flesh, clearly indicative of burning powder. Evidence I'm starving...
  11. OH. I generally do "ok" with a lot of stuff. This specifically was...a lot to wrap my head around. Good reminder. I think oftentimes it is very easy to become complacent about certain things, especially when you carry a firearm nearly every day. It doesn't matter if you have successfully carried a gun, or cleaned a gun for that matter, 1,000 or even 100,000 times safely. All it takes is one screwup and your life and the lives of those around you could be very, very different.
  12. Here's one for you: @Glockerspaniel For the dog loving Glock man.
  13. I agree 100%. My first holster was a leather High Noon Holsters "Down Under" (I think that was the model). It had the Pull-the-Dot loops. I got hooked on them then and I cannot get used to any of the other "hooks" or whatever. The soft loops are more secure seeing as how they pretty much cannot come off your belt unless you remove them yourself.
  14. Just came back here to post my thoughts after owning this light for three days. I love it. I don't love everything about it, but I do love it. It is so tiny. It basically turned my carry back into a "stock Glock" package. The X300U-A I had was an amazing light built like a tank, but it was bulky compared to this. For that, I very much enjoy having the TLR-7. The controls aren't perfect. They are doable, but not perfect. If you quickly tap the controls on either side, it turns the light on/off. However, if you press and hold the controls on either side while it is off, it stays on while you have it pressed in. When you release, it turns off. So, the difference between "on" and "momentary on" is simply how long you hold it. Perhaps with training I'll grow to love it more. After using the ten-tap programming, I enabled "strobe mode". Now, when the light is off, a quick double tap to the controls on either side activates the strobe. I like having a strobe on a weapon light; That's something I always wished the Surefire I had would provide but sadly it did not. Admittedly, I think the Surefire was probably built better. But I also paid $220 for it back in the day. I had it for about five years. It was nice. But I like the Streamlight better. The Streamlight TLR-7 is built well enough I believe. It is technically just as bright (500 lumens), even though it only has one battery instead of two. However, might I mention that the tint of the light seems a bit different? The Surefire had a much cooler (white) light. The Streamlight has a slightly warmer (yellow) light. No big deal, actually a warmer light allows you to differentiate color easier. In my opinion, unless you are a cop/military, battery life is irrelevant. Train with it when you do, place a fresh battery in it when you start to carry it. Since either of them easily get you an hour's worth of light, in my opinion that's enough since as a civilian it's likely you would only need the light for a maximum of a few moments in the worst case scenario (unless you are John McClane, of course. But then you are a cop, which I already mentioned).
  15. @TGO David I remember specifically that there used to be a page showing a member's username history. I think it was available to all members. I remember because @Nunya used to be called something to the extent of bentonbjones or something like that, if I recall. But after some fiasco he got made, changed his name, and left. But I remember seeing a page showing that he changed his name. Has that page disappeared via software updates?
  16. I don't think it was him, there's still a member by that name.
  17. Oh dear. I hope I didn't start too bad a trend. I changed mine and felt justified in doing so because I changed the tagline underneath so people would know who I am. @felinesNfreedom, I'll admit, I at this point have no idea who you are...
  18. Seriously enough, I laughed 30 seconds straight, out loud.
  19. Dang. You've found me.
  20. Only have one, the rest are mostly Glocks:)
  21. No, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.
  22. I'm just making a public notice, I changed my name to GlockSpock. I used to be CZ9MM. I'm still the same person, just cooler.
  23. I don't often make it up to Knoxville, but I might could make something work. I'll PM you if so. See, what you describe is what has me a bit hesitant. Practice/training is everything, but I definitely want to try it out before sinking $500+ into a setup. The Trijicon I would want alone is that. I'd hate to do it and then decide I don't like it. I may check a local range that has a few rentals to see if they have some sort of setup to try.
