I ordered a few PMAG's from your Manventure Outpost site. They should get here today. The wait got me thinking though, how prevalent are counterfeit PMAG's? Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the capabilities of buying power and the free market, but being able to buy them for roughly $10 each shipped is just amazing!

It's actually ironic that you would post this today. I actually just got home hoping that they would be here and they are! I will post a picture later when I get home again. For some reason I guess they don't make the "Frags" or the compact, but I agree that they look great. Will be carrying the rest of this evening with them. They do give it a bit slimmer profile!

Inside Waist Band Carry uncomfortable.
GlockSpock replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
With my High Noon belt and High Noon Down Under holster along with my P-01, I find it very comfortable. I've even fallen asleep several times with it on and woken up without any regrets or discomfort. I suppose it depends on the following: Firearm, holster, belt, body type, carry location. -
I went ahead and purchased the VZ Tiger Stripe Compact G10 grips. I think they'll look great! Cannot wait to get em! Perhaps I'll post a picture whenever they arrive!

Mainly wondering if anyone in the Cleveland area has any VZ G10 grips (hopefully for a 75?). I'm looking at putting some on my P-01, and would like to handle some if at all possible. If noone in the local area has any VZ's, what do you all think of them? They have many great reviews on the internet. I'm hoping that they will make concealing a wee bit easier due to their thinner nature? I have a knife with G10 handles, I am also thinking it might not cause an overshirt to ride up as much as the stock rubber grips. Either of these the case?

Enemies: Theft and Rust (Firearm Storage at Home)
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
I wonder if anyone has ever tried taking on of these soft cases and applying some sort of silicone treatment? Something like spraying Remoil (or equivalent) on the contact surfaces ever few days for a few weeks? I suppose you wouldn't want to soak the material, but a "layer" and then air dry, theoretically the silicone would stay put right? Or is this all just foolish talk? -
The obvious answer is safe. However, I do not have one and do not wish to go through the hassle of purchasing one and having it installed in my rental house that I don't plan on staying in more than a year. Thus, I'd like some input and ideas on how to store a rifle and a few pistols that will keep them out of the way (of us), out of sight (from thieves), and clean (from rust). I was very close this morning to purchasing one of these two: http://www.castlerocktactical.com/crt_dc16.htm http://www.laruetactical.com/covert-rifle-case-mkII However I gave it a second thought and decided that soft cases like that would probably promote rust. I'd like to store the rifle and pistols along with some cleaning supplies, ammo, and some loaded magazines. Obviously there are many options if one does not mind spending money, and I'd love some recommendations of different products. If there is an option for it to be made in the USA, that'd be awesome. Mainly I'm hoping that some of you here will chime in on what you've done in the past and what to do and what not to do.

It really would just depend on what actually went on during the potential sale. If during the entire time of selection he [husband] was the one handling everything, discussing what he liked and didn't like, and then towards the end the conclusion was "she's going to buy this one", well that is probably sour and the Walmart guy is just trying to do his job. After all, you never know what sort of pressure has been put on him by management to avoid any possible straw purchases. If she was the one handling everything and it appeared she was trying to make a decision, then the Walmart guy made a huge error in making a decision. Keep in mind Walmart is also the place that refused to sell me a knife sharpener when I was 17. A knife SHARPENER. So it is obvious that they are bending over kneeling in hopes that they are not at all held liable for anything. Straw purchases are funny anyway. Anyone that cannot legally purchase a firearm knows how and where to find them. And anyone that cannot legally purchase a firearm that wants to purchase one NIB from the store knows that all they have to do is find someone willing to go into the store alone and then what store is going to deny the sell calling it a "straw purchase" then? I have actually seen the "straw purchase" rule prevent quite a few purchases that were probably legal. Such as a female at Walmart I overheard asking the attendant if it was ok if she purchase a firearm for her husband for Christmas. He called it a straw purchase and said that was illegal. As long as the recipient can legally own a firearm, it is my understanding that in this case it is legal. If he hounded her about not being able to handle it, that's not cool. But it is also possible he said something like "That's a lot of gun for a young woman like you, sure you can handle it?". After the denial, her and her husband may have exaggerated what was said and claimed is was discriminatory.

Posey's, just went in their the other day. Lot of stuff on the walls and in the cases, but I was hoping that they would stock larger selection of ammo and magazines. But I suppose $30 is as cheap as we can get it since we unfortunately have the check fee. $30 isn't bad, just wish we could have them for half that like some places in the country.

AR Accessory (Bipods, Lights, Lasers, etc) Holder/Stand!
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Wow! Just comes to show you can sell anything. Kudos to him. It is actually a very awesome piece, I just cannot justify it but maybe someday. I'm also sure that ThinkGeek has quite a nice markup. -
Finally I found something that works! Just for those of you that don't know what to do with your accessories Seriously though, I'd buy one if it were about 20% of the current price! http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/edfc/?cpg=47832954&msg_id=47832954&et_rid=508493335&linkid=47832954_headline_edfc

Silvers, the one shop in town I have never been to. Good thoughts though! Sidenote: Fugates claimed when I talked to them about it she would have to charge me salestax. I personally have never actually had an item transferred from the internet, but it is my understanding that if you were to purchase the item from out of state and have it shipped to your FFL, all the FFL does is transfer + background check. Is this correct?
-
I am pretty sure it is $30 plus the $10 transfer fee/tax.
-
I'd like to find an FFL in the Cleveland area that doesn't charge $40 for a transfer. Anyone have any experience with any good ones around?

I had one. The first gun I bought (Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec) for $400 came with one. Got the factory .45 ACP barrel, as well as the .400 CB barrel with 1.8 boxes of .400 CB ammo. I fired I think five rounds of the .400 CB. It was very awesome, but with ammo being scarce and took the ammo and barrel to a local gunship/smith and the smith paid me $100 cash for the combination. I figured $100 would buy me a lot of (figuratively) .45 ACP and then I'd only technically have $300 in the gun. It was...an awesome round to say the least.

I buddy of mine recently acquired a CZ 100 as payment for a debt owed to him. He just really wants some cash. I know they weren't produced and imported for all that long, but what do you all think of them? Reliable? Accurate? Parts easy to find? What would a good buyers price be for one at probably 90-95%?

I carry anywhere I can, except for posted areas and work. In the handbook at work it is mentioned that one of the possible reasons for dismissal (permanently) is possession of a firearm without permission. I work at a "corporation" with 200+ employees. I plan on it, but I haven't got around to making mention to the President that I have a permit, and ask if it would be ok if I were to bring a firearm into the office and keep it secured. Anyone with any such experience in a similar situation?

Probably a month ago I took my wife to the land of unclaimed baggage in Scottsboro. Got back late that night. Guess from being tired I slipped and left my vehicle unlocked. Next morning we jumped in to go to church and I noticed that the cable that usually resided in my glove box connected to my iPod was pulled out and laying on the passenger seat (the cable is connected to the radio). That is when I noticed that my iPod would never see me again, nor I it. Her car door was a bit ajar too, but they didn't find anything in there I suppose. We live in what I consider a very good area downtime, however late at night I figure some punks were walking down the street checking all the car doors to see what they could find. Now I drive my wife crazy making sure everything is locked

Although I would love a Kadet kit and would love to have one someday, if I am going to spend what it costs to buy the kit I would much rather just have a dedicated firearm. That said if I ever see one of the kits used I may pick it up if it is a good price.

I honestly did not realize that the 22/45 is polymer framed. Dolomite, you say that Sig estimated 10K-15K on their Mosquito. To put things in perspective, what would you say one of these Rugers would probably last? Since the 22/45 is polymer framed, does that in any way affect its durability vs the Mark III? If I were to pickup one of the Mark III's, which model would probably be best suited for a suppressor?
-
I have shot but never owned a .22lr pistol. I have my eyes set right now on the Ruger rimfire pistols, especially the threaded 22/45. I would rather have the 10150 since it has the sights instead of just the rail. Long term I would be interested in a suppressor, that is why the threaded 22/45 appeals to me. I suppose I like the 22/44 over the Mark III simply because of the fire controls, but in no means am I ruling out the standard Mark III. Something that I am curious about the threaded 22/45 is whether the sights are easily usable with a suppressor installed. Are they high enough? I am open to many recommendations and it will probably be a few weeks to months away from being purchased, but what I am interested in are: Automatic Easily Suppressible Easily Upgradable (Aftermarket Internal Parts Support) Tried and True (Accurate and Reliable) I suppose I would be interested in upgrading some of the internals with aftermarket parts if they would improve trigger pull.

This is personally how I fear it may be done. Much like the assault on automatic weapons, first there would be a federal tax of some sort on guns. "Handguns are $50 per year and long guns are $100 per year", or something like that. At this point you would have to pay for each of your guns, based on serial numbers, for them to be "legal". At first many people would be possibly be open to this. It could start out cheap, like $100 per year for as many guns as you want. People would say "$100 is a cheap price to pay for you security", just like people say "$115 for a permit plus a class is a cheap price to pay for your security". After the government got people in the mindset of paying that tax, they could easily raise it, or restrict it. This is what they did with automatic weapons essentially. Any weapon in public that had not been taxed would be considered contraband. Obviously this would not work very well in many places, such as the south, but after conditioning the current school kids nationwide, it could work. Instead of "collecting", they would simply be gradually wait for people to turn them in since they couldn't pay the tax. When facing either a very expensive tax to keep Grandfather's AR-15, or risk jail time by keeping it without the tax, I think that most of the conditioned public would just turn it in to avoid the worries. The confiscation and elimination of the armed public is based upon one thing: Public perception of firearms.

A few months ago I bought one of those $20 for $40 deals, thus I have $40 to spend on Brownells. Since I cannot really make a bulk ammo purchase or anything like that, what should I buy? I'm looking for any intriguing odds and ends here. What's the most interesting, useable peace of equipment that I could buy? I'm willing to throw in a few extra bucks if the item is good enough.
