Pulled this photo from Wikipedia. It claimed it was from India.

The media... (or my little rant)
Stoeger and Erma both produced a .22 "Luger" for many years.
Accepted. The one in my story was DEFINITELY a Ruger. -
The media... (or my little rant)
GlockSpock replied to charlessummers's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think it is ignorance on the subject. I know someone who kept telling me about his Dad's "awesome" Luger .22lr. He told me "it is like a "MKII or something like that". Sometimes it may be purposeful, but I believe it is equally ignorance. -
What confuses me is how sometimes you have a thread started by a new user and their post count shows "1". However, they've posted many times in that very thread!

Disarmed in a traffic stop
GlockSpock replied to tennessee01tacoma's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
When you murder a cop or anyone else, no one generally cares if you had a permit or not.
I've always seen quite the opposite. It seems that if a suspect holds a HCP, the media is more than happy to report this. Suspect shot cop, HE HAD A CARRY PERMIT. Suspect kills family and then self, HE HAD A CARRY PERMIT. Suspect ran stop sign and then made an illegal turn, HE HAD A CARRY PERMIT. -
you're telling me how to run my business and we are through
The only proper response to this? "You just read my mind" while walking out.

What about doing such a thing for a DA/SA handgun? Most everything I've read is for a striker fired pistol.

Just curious, whatever ended up happening here? Also, did you ever get around to calling Buck? Still curious as to what they would do here.

I had roughly $18 cashback bonus on my Discover card, so I decided to purchase the Victorinox "Pioneer". Amazon also has a Discover promotion, so I got free one day shipping. I ended up paying roughly $7 for it to get here tomorrow. Don't tell anyone, but I also purchased a red Victorinox "Cadet" for my wife. It should be here Monday (bought it from SwissOutpost for $18, free "extended" shipping. I think she'll like it. I just wish they produced the red alox "Pioneer" still. I've found some of them, but I don't want to pay $60 or more for them. But I love that red alox! I'll post a picture up tomorrow after I get it! I just feel so much regret for not purchasing both these knives around black friday. I didn't realize it at the time, but all the prices for Victorinox knives on Amazon were up to 40% off! The Pioneer was $18 shipped. Should have got it then, but oh well:( $7 Out of pocket for a Victorinox isn't bad at all!

I've been seeing a lot of jokes posted in their own threads on here recently. Well, I'll be the first to say that I've enjoyed all of them. I just think it would be cool if they were all posted into a joke thread so they are easy to find. So, if all are willing, lets make this the joke thread!

Disarmed in a traffic stop
GlockSpock replied to tennessee01tacoma's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
People loose their minds all the time. Just because someone has a HCP doesn't mean they won't flip out and do something rash. We have read about it dozens of times on here where a HCP holder does something stupid. And as an officer if they can do something to prevent injuries to anyone it is a good thing.
I agree that HCP holders are not immune to rash thinking and foolish actions. However, there have also been many instances of officers thinking rashly and acting foolishly. Not to mention that there are many stories of officers handling civilians' firearms dangerously while disarming. I am always very respectful to LEO's and fully understand that their top priority is their safety and getting home to their family. But just because they want to get home to their family does not mean that everything is justifiable for them to achieve this. Approaching all vehicles with their gun drawn and then handcuffing your hands to the steering wheel would greater insure that they get home safely, but I feel doing so would be greatly frowned upon. I'm not one that would or will make an issue or scene if this were to happen to me. I would comply, and do so very politely. It is just something that bothers me internally that it is even an issue. I suppose the root of what bothers me is that officers (arguably) have to be in the state of mind that they are. Perhaps it is mostly due to the world we live in, or perhaps it is mostly due to training, but the fact that an officer fears his life is in danger over a petty traffic stop bothers me. I understand that many times it is a traffic stop in which your hard criminals are caught. But I like the stories in which the officer is relieved to find out that the driver is a HCP holder much more than the stories in which the officer feels it necessary to disarm someone. -

How do these compare to the Hornady Critical Defense 9mm's?

I don't know what you are considering "small" here, but checkout the CZ P-01, PCR, and the RAMI line. If you loved your 75B Omega so much, I really don't see how you could go wrong with any of these.

About 8 months ago while still living with my parents, I noticed an unmarked SUV stop directly in the road in front of our house (the house is probably 200' from the road). Some guy got out with a cell phone and was walking around. He walks around the corner for a while and comes back, still on the phone. Few minutes later a black and white shows up. After a few moments of nothing "exciting", I decided that I'd walk down there to see what was going on. Turns out that there was a "throwaway" meth lab that someone had dumped down thereat the corner of the road. One of our neighbors, a science teacher, had seen it while walking and reported it. I have a feeling that a lot of people probably go by stuff like this more often than they would ever imagine without even noticing it.
Ideally I would have it for shooting at the range and for shooting small game in a SHTF scenario.
Someone will disagree with me, but I would prefer a bolt action rifle for this. Not to take away from .22lr AR's, but I just feel that the bolt action ones, preferably tube fed, have more to offer. For example, I can feed the CCI "Quiet" .22lr ammunition in my bolt action. Pull the trigger, it sounds like a pellet gun. Cycle the bolt, pull trigger again. http://www.cci-ammunition.com/whatsnew/newproducts.aspx 710fps 40 grain bullet Just a thought. I own the Marlin XT-22TSR. It was the only .22lr stainless tube fed bolt action I could find. For a survival gun, this is my vote.

Feed family of 4 for 1 year for 300 bucks
GlockSpock replied to jcoosi's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I agree with those that say this should be supplemented with other things. However, I think the main reason for this is the fact that it is affordable for most anyone, as simple as can be, and will keep someone alive for a very extended amount of time. For someone getting started on stocking food, it'd be a great base. ~$300 and you'd be set for roughly a year. That's less than $1 a day. That looks a whole lot better vs starting out stocking some of the other methods at $5 or more per meal for a family. -
Anyways what business is it of theirs and how would they know?
Typically the owners of an apartment complex would probably see it as a liability. The more firearms in an area, the more of a chance of a negligent discharge or that one of them will be used to defend one's self. In either case, there is also a chance that a bullet would go through walls and strike someone completely unaware of the situation. The owners are probably afraid that the unintended innocent victim will sue the person that fired the shot as well as the apartment owners themselves. I am not sure whether there is an precedent for such a thing, but I could see it happening and thus so unfortunately understand why the owners would be weary of leaving firearms unmentioned. It's all about the lawyers and insurance.
Like I said, if you're skinny. I can't suck my gut in enough. My spare mag carrier is a loop style so I've gotta take my belt off to add it anyway. Pulling the holster out is easy. Putting it back, not so much. Maybe it's just me.
I'm not skinny. Currently 218lbs at about 5'9". I will say this. I can very easily slide my Down Under into my pants very easily with my belt still on (while standing). I just have to fiddle due to the fact that I have to get the loops on the holster underneath the belt.
-
Unless you're really skinny and/or have very loose fitting clothes, you're gonna have to arrange everything anyway. Doing so while sitting behind the wheel is a bit of a chore.... AMHIK. One of the reasons why I pocket carry a lot.
Well, I figure it would be possible to take the holster with the gun in it, slide it into your waistband, and mostly be done? This is if you are standing?
-
When you must disarm, why take the holster off? Just remove the gun and keep the holster on your belt.
It isn't so much as arming or disarming, but rather coming from an area such as work when I do not have my holster on. Many times after work I will go other places, and rather than have to loosen my belt and "arrange" everything, it would be nice to just slide the gun and holster into my pants (if the clip will hold them belt in this instance). I assume it will work great.
