I overestimated the total gains. Total tax owed ended up being $38. I threw in an extra $.76 in order to cover 3% for 10 months (they were charging me $12 interest for the initial amount owed.

I am also fairly concerned about the Battle Mug being banned.

I have not yet calculated the exact number, but I estimate probably a total net gain of $800. I only played around with them a bit and then quickly realized that it was much to stressful for me so I sold them and haven't messed with them for nearly a year. I plan on later this week consulting with the CPA that did it last year and seeing what can go on. Hopefully the amount owed can be brought down. If not, oh well.

I thought that they only taxed the net profit. With the appropriate documents and forms, should it be possible to get the amount that I owe down some?

Received a letter from the IRS yesterday. It's a Merry Christmas! I owe an additional $600 for 2011's taxes. Basically (from what I understand), I did a bit of trading on E*Trade, and it wasn't accounted for. However, when I filed my taxes at a local bookkeeper, he essentially said that unless it was a certain amount that I shouldn't worry about it. Well now I get a sheet listing all the (few) sales I made, and their amounts. It is essentially setup to look like all that money was income. However, I argue that the income is the difference between the total of what I paid and the total of what it sold for. Is this not the way the IRS sees it? Does the IRS see it as additional income for what you sell a stock for?

Was doing some pondering about magazines today (while playing Black Ops 2 online). Assuming that you are using your firearm to send bullets towards another human being, the only time magazine capacity matters is if you are being confronted. A single shot or bolt action rifle could be used to slaughter literally HUNDREDS of unarmed people if they couldn't defend themselves. If an active shooter isn't confronted with violence, he has all the time in the world to manipulate his single shot rifle or shotgun. However, place that active shooter up against an armed opposer with a high capacity magazine, the high capacity magazine shines in its ability to provide quick follow up shots. Active shooters will always be able to take extra firearms, or extra magazines. It makes no difference from an active shooter standpoint if he has a single shot rifle or an AR-15 with multiple 30 round magazines if he faces no confrontation.

I am wondering if it is a Walther P1 type firearm. I've found that Helman is referenced here: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=320251061 From what I gather, a Walther P1 would be in that general price range, I believe. Also wonder what the chances of it being a Frankengun, being a German/Egyptian child? Try to get a photo up if you can!

Map: Where are the gun permits in your neighborhood?

With that much concentration of gun carriers it is an absolute miracle that there isn't a blood bath on every street! -
When is it going to be OK to sale mags, ammo, and ARs for the going rate?
GlockSpock replied to swim615's topic in General Chat
I don't care how much some of this stuff is going for, it is capitalism at its finest. I bought 100 of those P-mags the week of the election. I had $9.37 in each of them, and sold them for $12 each. I made what I considered a fair amount while moving inventory quickly. I planned on using the $1200 to purchase more of them, but a few places were out of stock so I procrastinated. Had I purchased $1200 of them (roughly 130 of them), you'd bet your bottom dollar I'd be selling them for current market value at $50 each or even higher if it goes there. Admittedly, this is part of the problem, possibly an artificially reduced supply because people are hoarding in order to later make a profit, but I am ok with it. Were it other items such as food or water in a crisis, I would still understand that capitalism would be at play. However, I would in that situation feel sorry that lower income families could not pay market value for food or water. Am I sad that not everyone right now is able to purchase a 33 round Glock magazine for less than a couple hundred? Nope. -
Until they write you a ticket for speeding.

I really wish everyone could be more upfront about high capacity magazines. It's nice to have high capacity magazines because the band guys could have high capacity magazines. If you consider high capacity magazines to be good only for slaughtering lots of people, are you concerned that cops have them? If not, then what is the difference between a cop having one and a law abiding citizen with good intentions having one?

If this is true, sorry. I would not have posted the links had I known this. I'm a Mac user, and had no idea.

You're welcome everyone! 4 more to anyone that wants them. Perhaps a comment or two (without revealing anything) from someone who has started it? -
BUT. I first found it on CNN and had to switch to Fox because CNN cut to commercial right in the middle on his speech.

Unfortunately what the majority of people in the country will hear about the release is that there was a sign that said the NRA is killing our children. Then the majority of the country will go back to whatever it was that they were doing.

Advice on a holster CZ75 D PCR

Same size, practically the same gun, but the P-01 has a rail and I believe is a bit wider. Some holsters may work, others may not. -

If you don't mind spending money, I would go with High Noon Holsters. http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Belt_Holsters/Inside_The_Waistband/inside_the_waistband.html I know that these aren't hybrid, but I have been very satisfied with them. I have carried my P-01 for a year now, and there is virtually no holster wear on the firearm. Holster is in great shape too. I use the down under with straps, although I plan on getting one just like it with a clip to see how I like it. -
Useless while empty, aren't they? Also, the consensus is that storing them loaded (compression) doesn't wear them out, but rather that cycling them compressed and relaxed (using them) does. There is also a lot of anecdotal evidence of "My grandfather left such and such mag loaded for 40 years and when he died I fired it and it worked fine!".

Synchronicity The experience of two or more events that are apparently causally unrelated or unlikely to occur together by chance, yet are experienced as occurring together in a meaningful manner. Coincidence vs Conspiracy Sandy Hook & The Dark Knight Rises Kennedy & Lincoln You all are smart folks. Talk!

Well, not that I disagree with you, but simply bringing in the fact that two states recently legalized recreational marijuana. So far the feds haven't really reacted, but that doesn't mean that they won't. Find a state like Arizona, Alaska, or Texas, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them did try to nullify.
