Oh, and I don't want to hijack this thread, at least until he gets it fixed. Then we can talk about Linux all we want! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used to use Linux exclusively in high school. I tried many distros, Ubuntu being the primary one but also OpenSuse, Kubuntu (Ubuntu with KDE instead of Gnome), Gentoo (not for beginners, I'll explain below), and probably more than I cannot think of right now.   In a Nutshell, you can run different different desktop environments on the same installation. The two major ones are Gnome and KDE, but you do have other more minor ones too. They look different. They have different features. Some are built more for optimization and efficiency, some have a lot of bloated stuff you don't need but it's there. Some are as minimalist as possible.   Gentoo was interesting because you had to compile pretty much everything from scratch. With instructions, an installation goes pretty much like this. From a CD you install a very small "starter package". It's just enough to get you a CLI when booted from, roughly 50MB or so (may be different now). From then on, you compile from source code "Gentoo", the drivers for your specific hardware and only your specific hardware. It takes about 1-2 days for a full Gentoo installation because your computer is compiling from scratch everything. The end result is a very lean OS that only has the drivers and modules for the hardware you have. That would result in a very efficient installation that takes full advantage of your hardware but is not bogged down from having all kinds of stuff in there that you cannot use or wouldn't use. It was really neat and a fun experience, but I ended up leaving it after a few days because it was a pain to get something to work. If you realized you installed the wrong drivers for your sound card, you had to get and recompile a few things (much quicker than the original setup, but still took time).   I would say, in today's tech world, I'd try a distro with KDE instead of Gnome. Or if you try Gnome, go with one that does not use the "Unity" interface. In my opinion, it's crap. Maybe it's just different. KDE has really became nice in the past few years.   In the end, I switched from Linux to OS X because OS X has more commercial software for media and office productivity. I miss Linux though for many reasons. I have many times been tempted to sell my rMBP and purchase a high end laptop and just install Linux on it. I'd probably net $100-$300 and get back to my roots. Overall, I despise everything that is Windows. The only thing, in my opinion, that they have going for them is the office suite. It is the standard. Numbers and Pages on a Mac are usable, but (maybe just because I learned on Excel and Word) and infinitely more usable in my opinion.   Linux recently has stolen some of the gaming crowd due to Steam pushing a Linux version. It was not around with I had my massive homebuilt machine. If it was I would have installed it and probably kept it. I got tired of Windows 7 on the gaming machine so I sold the machine. One of the Linux distros + Steam would be a killer combination in my opinion, as long as there were a few games that you liked that had applicable Linux versions.   It is easy to try most any Linux distro, simply download an .ISO, burn it to a disk (or flash it to a USB drive), and boot into a "live" mode. From there you can use it or install it. If you use it, it does not write anything to your hard disk (unless you manually do say by saving a file, etc). You won't accidentally do so though.   For the most part, Mac OS X offers much of what Linux has to offer (but in a less open and diverse package). I just get nostalgic thinking about Linux though sometimes.

  7.    In my above post I stated that I am open to the possibility of 6000 years and 4.6B years. I am open to it being 6000 years because we may discover new science in the future that reveals a great flaw in many of the ways we figure things now. I am open to 4.6B years because most all of modern science agrees on that figure. When I woke up this morning, it didn't matter which figure I clung to as I got out of bed with my wife and started putting my pants on. I am in no hurry to decide for myself how old this place is, in the end it doesn't matter to me.    Am I waiting to wakeup and seeing on the news headlines that the Earth is 6000 years old due to a fatal flaw in the calculations of everything? No. I wouldn't bet anything on that happening. Is the likelihood that the Earth is roughly 4.6B years old? According to many things, a few of which I mentioned above, that answer is yes. Do I have the confidence to say 100% with no room for error that the Earth is either 6000 years old or 4.6B years old? Not with 100% certainty.
  8.   I'm open to it, and let me tell you why. There have been many "flaws" with understood science throughout the ages, and then later we figured it out and "debunked" that older science. I think that man is quite conceited if he trusts science 100% without the possibility of other explanations/calculations. Now, there certainly is a lot of evidence that suggests certain things about certain ages of certain things. Things such as the Grand Canyon, light from millions of light years away, etc.   However, I do not have the science or understanding to test any of it. Therefore, I must believe what I'm told. Yep, there's a consensus among scientists that nearly all agree on the issue but just because the majority of a group agrees on something does not make them correct. Since I do not have the capability to myself test any of these things and also ensure that the method of testing is accurate, then I must trust the consensus of that being shown to me.   However, many here would agree that the "consensus" amongst the media is wrong regarding firearms, ACA, Obama, etc. So once again, consensus does not equal correctness. I'm not attempting to discredit any modern science, I'm just saying that there is a whole lot that we don't know. I'm open to the possibility that one of those things we don't know might explain things in a different way than is currently accepted as valid.   Truthfully, I don't necessarily agree with the notion that the Earth is 6000 years old, but I am open to the possibility of it. The exact same statement is true regarding 4.6B years as well. In the end, does either really make a difference to me or you living our daily lives? I don't think it does. Now, you say "for starters' insinuating that this shall follow with a followup question, and on and on. Ultimately, I cannot prove to you any of my beliefs because they are beliefs.
  9.   Well Oh Shoot, why doesn't it surprise me that you'd chime in on this one? It's obvious that you are not a believer. I didn't post it to try and convert you. But you do seem to wish to debate/convert any of the believers here. You have a lot to offer in terms of firearms knowledge and experience, and I always enjoy reading your posts. But there are many believers here, like it or not, and as long as TGO David allows it, it is well within our rights to post articles that express that belief and discuss it among ourselves.

  11.   Just little plastic bags, almost like a grocery store bag but more like you'd see for a little gift bag or something.
  12. Ok, I have 5 left. Will ship if wanted, will hold/meet if wanted. Will also accept BitCoin as payment (now that is fun stuff).
  13. Well, could have done better as well obviously, but overall I'm satisfied. I'll get much more use out of the socks that I would have those water bottles. I suppose my main thought is it seems they should have switched the bags up a bit. It seems instead if you ordered two you likely got two of the same thing. But whatever. It was only a few bucks and I can use these hats and socks. Better luck that I have spending $25 on lottery tickets!
  14. I'll bet I got the same combination, just a fluctuation in packing. The good news is that the black has is a nice looking hat. So now I'm very curious as to what is in the lighter packages.

  18. Or we just got long sleeve t-shirts while you all got short sleeve t-shirts.
  19. May have a local claim on these, I'll let you know in the next few days.
  20.         In light of tracking my mystery bags, I came up with this idea. Not that we would be able to tell much (if anything) by doing so, I figured it'd be fun to post how much the package weights.   I ordered two of the mystery bags, and UPS shows the package weighing 1.8 lbs.
  21.   I've always had good service from them. They are the company I ordered the $20 BDU style pants from. I purchased 5 pairs, and to make a really long story short, they sent me four replacement pairs within that month because there were small issues with two of the originals, then an issue with the two replacements, Some of the issues had to do with incorrect sizing (they sent me a size 42 when I ordered 36. One of the pairs was about two inches longer than they should have been. One or two pairs had their buttons sowed on loosely. So, in retrospect, their quality control/warehouse crew may lack a little, but they definitely took care of me in terms of customer service. I'll stay a happy customer until they give me a reason otherwise.   Interesting about the backorder issue though. To be sending out "500" bags, it seems suspicious. I suppose they had enough stock to put together a certain number of the bags with the rest of the stock incoming within a few days/weeks. Then the bags were more popular than they expected and sold out in the first day all the while when they expected to receive the incoming stock before the bags sold out.   Or they decided to turn "500" into a larger number and let more than 500 orders go through.   Who knows?
  22.   Well, I never really get your way, but if you get my way I don't mind holding them for you. Also, I have 10 left. I suppose I couldn't turn you down but I'd much prefer to let all of them go at once. If you think you'll get down my way anytime soon, they're yours. I'd just expect payment now and then I would box them, write "tnguy" on them, and stick them aside until I get a PM from you. If you don't want to, that's fine. Work out with someone else on the forums that might make that trip often, I'll meetup with them and they can deliver them to you if you want. Just let me know.
  23. Someone backed out. I suppose that means I have another 10 if someone wants them. The first person to claim them right here gets them. Then I'll PM you with payment details.
