Considering trading away an indebted vehicle
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
I would guess my Dad would give your Dad a run for his money. Now that I'm out on my own and renting, there are so many things I'd want to do but since I am renting I feel so restricted. I decided just to be patient another year or two and buy my own house. -
http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2013/12/19/my-secret-santa-was-bill-gates/ That would be quite the surprise. Too bad he didn't take part for the TGO SS! Registered MG's for everyone!

http://carmatech.net I'd like to give one of those a go.

Also, a Raven Concealment Phantom LC holster pairs beautifully with that light. It's mine and at least a few others' EDC setup. http://www.rcsquickship.com

I'm going to be the 4th to say...Surefire X300 Ultra:) However...I wouldn't pay $209 for it... Currently: $183.75 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00999CBJ6/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00999CBJ6&linkCode=as2&tag=55602-20 That's where I bought mine...A+ service as expected from Amazon. Worth every single penny. I actually have been thinking of purchasing another one at that price (I actually did pay about $220 for mine at the time I purchased it). Order history shows I paid $229.49 roughly a year ago. That's a savings of $45.74! Trust all of us, you won't be disappointed.

Considering trading away an indebted vehicle
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
In such, it'd be better to in some way pay off the vehicle and then sell it? That's easier said than done;) If someone was to meet me at the credit union, I would assume that would remove nearly all risks that the buyer would be concerned about? -
Considering trading away an indebted vehicle
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Can you explain what you mean by that? Luckily I haven't been too foolish. The car is the only debt (except for the revolving credit card debt that gets paid off each month) that I have. My YNAB's looking pretty good right now. The number two problem is finding a vehicle I'd like. -
Last year on 9/11 I purchased went into debt on a 2012 Ford Fusion. It's a great car. However, a few months afterword, I really got into the "debt-free" mindset and living within your means. I now have one of my topmost goals to purchase a house as soon as possible. So, here are the facts: 2012 Ford Fusion SE (~35,000 Miles) Indebted $10,745.70 at 3.24% Payments are currently at $230 KBB Puts it at $11,919 (fair) to $14,019 (excellent) I'd say it is somewhere between good and excellent It's a great vehicle, but after purchasing I realized that financially speaking I should have put more down (I put down roughly $800, the value of my trade in) and probably purchased a less expensive vehicle. Now, I've been more than doubled up on payments for a while now (making $500 payments instead of $230). I can have this vehicle paid off in likely a year and a half if I set my mind to it. However, instead of doubling up on payments I would rather divert that money towards the house fund. I do obviously need a vehicle to drive. What I am tempted to do (and would instantly do if it were easy) is find a reliable vehicle in the $5000-$7000 range. Assuming that I could get at least $12,969 (average between fair and excellent) for my Fusion, I'd have at least $2,224 to put down towards a "new" cheaper vehicle. If I could find a reliable but slightly older SUV for $8,000 or so, I could roughly come out owing $5000 instead of twice that. That appeals to me for several reasons! However, I've never sold a vehicle I owe money on. It is currently owned by the local credit union. I suppose I could sell private party and then payoff the loan, and then give them the title once I receive it, right? But then I'd have to find someone willing to not only trust me but to work with me during the likely several weeks long process. I could, I suppose, take it to a dealership but that'd leave a sour taste in my mouth but it would probably be the easiest. What are you all's thoughts? Mainly, I'm looking to trade the car for an SUV, lower my debt payments, while keeping reliability a factor.

But he'll cover all taxes/fees related to the transfer!

So...in conclusion...nothing needs repairing except for the "I-D-Ten-T" error you were receiving?
Yeah sounds like crayons and play doh for everyone next year.Of course someone would wind up eating the crayons and gettin play doh in the carpet....
Doing it wrong! The crayons are to be used as emergency candles and the Play-Doh is to be used as emergency sustenance due to its infinite shelf life. Received my 50mm 1.4 yesterday. Haven't had much opportunity to try it out much, but with what little I played with it I sure did like it! I compared 50mm shots with it to 50mm shots with the kit lens. Just wanted your input in the durability of the AF on this lens. There are a lot of opinions on the internet that suggest a hood is a necessity: https://www.flickr.com/groups/canon_50mm/discuss/72157603775874649/

My face when I read the original post: -
Well, I've heard that soap could theoretically slip-through the waterproof seal. What I've been doing is submerging the watch in a glass of cool water for a bit and then wiping it down with a paper towel. Theoretically hot water can cause condensation on the inside of the watch. I don't get mind as dirty as some, but I don't baby it either. It currently looks brand new!

Yep, and the architectural design of most schools is lots and lots of glass. It sure is pretty! Pay it Forward shows how metal detectors can be bypassed.

WooHoo! Awesome cleaning kit as well as a Pelican case. I will be able to use both of them! Thanks! I already have plans for both:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, you are correct in that pointing a firearm "down" when at a greater than ground floor can hardly be considered "safe" or "correct", however I have contemplated quite often internally about what the correct thing to do in this scenario. My rule of thumb has always been to keep the thumb and his brothers off the trigger at all times and then only point the firearm in the safest direction. If that means pointing it downward when above ground floor, that's your best bet compared to pointing it horizontally at someone or in the room next to you. Thoughts? -

For those with (select) Canon cameras, you have the option of installing this: http://www.magiclantern.fm A installed it on a buddy's T3i. It really gives you so many more options. You must be careful in the whole process. Read about it on that website for a while before trying. It really is a neat project. http://vimeo.com/46188010

Cannot make much of a comment regarding the Winchester or the Nikon, but Canon is offering 50% off select refurbished lenses: http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/save-50-percent-when-you-buy-select-refurbished-ef-lenses You can get the 70-300mm IS USM for $259.99. That lens is $649 new!

I'd say a kit as well. I personally like having the 18-55mm kit lens. It isn't "bad", it just isn't "great". It is much better than most of your Point-and-Shoot cameras. I went on a trip to the Grand Canyon in 2009. Beforehand I purchase a Canon Rebel XTi from Sears. Me having never had a DSLR and just using the standard 18-55, I took this photos (along with 800 more;) Original Resolution, Unaltered: The XTi was roughly 10.1 megapixel. It is now roughly a 5-6 year old camera. I assure you , the newer ones are even nicer:) I paid close to $800 for the XTi bundle, you can now pickup the T3i bundle I showed you on Amazon for almost half ($437) with the 32GB Sandisk card and the case. Higher quality for hundreds less! The kit lens will be a great thing to play with to get the basics. It is also quite a versatile lens, being open enough for close shots but also being able to zoom in a bit for closer shots. I took two photography courses at Cleveland State. Something like that will teach you the basics. I consider myself a hobbyist, but I would like to get the point where I could be considered a professional. Most people on the street wouldn't understand the following terms: aperture, ISO, shutter, focal length, etc. A class (or a really, really good book) will help you understand those terms and how changing each of them affects your photo. Then all you have to do is practice, practice, practice a lot. That's where I fall short.
