If TICS went away, we would have to use the fed's NICS system, which sucks. Exempting HCP holders from a background check (either TICS or NICS) CAN be done purely at the state level.
NICS sucks? The TICS is essentially the exact same thing, we just pay $10 to have the state do it for us. I would gladly trade TICS for NICS. Saves us each $10 for each transfer/purchase. 2. Received a letter in the mail asking for renewal. Enclosed was a letter talking about Bloomberg's national push for gun control. The letter also speaks that the best defense may be a good offense. Just wondering if anyone else received it, and wha your thoughts were if you have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. Having a hard time finding decently priced magazines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/01/13/my-soul-aches-dying-kalashnikov-felt-guilt-over-blood-spilled-by-ak-47/   Interesting read, Kalashnikov felt regret over designing his rifle.
5.   So basically the same interchangeability as a Glock for the M&P's. Good to know.
6. So, all these reading recently has gotten me quite intrigued by the M&P 9 pistols. For one, they are better looking than a Glock. However, the fact that they are USA made by a USA company means a lot to me as well. They are a tad cheaper than a Glock, although the cost difference is so small that it probably would not make or break a decision. I am quite curious about these guns, and have a few questions.   Between the 9mm models, are magazines interchangeable like they are for the Glocks (17/19/26)? I suppose the closest to a 19 is the M&P 9, and the closest to a 26 is the M&P 9c. It looks like the sizing for the M&P's might be a bit larger than their Glock counterparts. Correct? What about the Shield series? Do they retain any (if any) magazine interchangeability of the M&P 9's? Internally, are the M&P's on par with Glock on simplicity and ease of parts replacement? I'd want one with no safety and no magazine brake/safety. I'd also want two. One to replace my 19 and one to replace my 26.   So far, I see the following:   M&P 9 Pro's   Slightly larger magazine capacity (12+1 for the 9c and 17 +1 for the 9) Slightly cheaper USA Made/Owned   Glock Pro's   High capacity magazines (33 round) readily available with 100% magazine interchangeability. Longer track record. Slight upper-hand on accessories availability but probably moot at this point. Magazines seem more durable, but many people like the steel M&P magazines so is this even a point? Reliablity/Accuracy questions are hard to answer because everyone has a different opinion. Many online reviews put the S&W's as being more accurate and others put the Glocks as being more accurate. I figure ultimately I need to shoot one but really I just need to keep what I have. I want one or the other and not both, that's my decision;)   Feedback desired, and if someone in Cleveland wants to go shooting, just let me know;)
7.   $150 for these is practically nothing compared to your .308. It's like...worrying about pennies when spending Benjamins. Why are you even worrying about it?
8. Right now, the Withings WS-50 Smart Body Analyzer is on Amazon for $120 (normally $150). I've been considering getting a WiFi scale to track this sort of stuff. Wondering if there is any firsthand experience with either the Withings scales or Fitbit Scales.   Withings   Fitbit   The WS-50 does quite a bit more than the Fitbit Aria. The WS-30 is more on par with the Aria. But since the WS-50 is on sale, it is tempting.   For those uninterested in Wi-Fi scales, that's fine. But I really like this sort of stuff, and have been interested in these for a long time in order to track personal fitness over time.
9. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/15624/s/10-magpul-pmag-m3-mag557-blk/   $150 for 10 of the new style PMAG's and a $50 PSA gift card.   Very tempted.
10. It may have been close to being true. I work at the local utility company and TVA put us on "Step 10 (In-House Load Reductions). We had to turn off all non-essential loads and lights. We also had to put out thermostats to 70 or below. Thankfully it never got "that bad", but that's the first time I remember us having to do that. Supposedly before I got here we had to do it a lot in the Summer on the hottest days.   A lot of electricity being used in the south when it's 5°F.

12. We put fresh garlic in everything. Also, had not heard I this until recently, but I made my wife some "black pepper tea". Used the french press but instead of coffee used a teaspoon or so of ground black pepper. Worked very well as a decongestant and helped her get back on her feet. We try to educate ourselves about as many herbal remedies as possible and treat the doctor as the "last option" for anything we can. As shown above, there are quite a few different versions marketed of this device. I feel it'd make a great supplement to any firestarting kit. It should be very durable. It should also have unlimited number of uses as long as you have proper sunlight. It'd be a great substitute for strikers/lighters/matches/etc when it could be used, allowing your consumable items to last that much longer. Anyone have any experience with these?
16. Just came from there and there was a guy running around talking about Glock 7's.   Sorry, I had to.
17. Sophomore year in high school the guy behind me had some habaneros. In a nutshell, I ate one. Didn't have any milk or bread to eat. Just say there for the entirety of the burn and tried to appear normal. I must have gotten a bit of the oil on my hand because my face started burning.   Overall, the initial burn wasn't that bad. I sat through the class and was mostly ok. It was the next few days that the burn was the worst.   Coincidentally, I was sitting next to my wife at the time, just didn't know it yet.   I love hot stuff, but it doesn't "agree" with me much anymore. Some spices are ok, but then sometimes even less "spicy" things tear me up.

19.   Hey! TGO wasn't created by the same people that did the ACA website!
20. You could theoretically do a pricematch on this one:   http://swfa.com/Aimpoint-PRO-Patrol-Rifle-Optic-Red-Dot-Sight-12841-P53892.aspx   SWFA: 422.06 Shipped LAPG: $356 Shipped   Difference = 66.06 *110% = 72.666   422.06 - 72.666 = 349.394   Theoretically SWFA would sell it to you for that price if they'll 110% pricematch it.
21.           I've been to the Brainerd Army Store several times. I always enjoy going when I'm on that side of Chattanooga. I will typically spend $10-$20 while there. They do have a lot of genuine surplus items. The downside is that they are slightly more expensive than I'd like them to be. I haven't been to that many surplus stores, but this is my favorite so far. Most of the other shops simply buy up a lot of VooDoo Tactical stuff and lots of Frost Cutlery knives. Brainered has quite a selection, and it'd be difficult to get in and out in under an hour if you genuinely take a look at everything. Be assured that their selection is much more vast than what is shown on their website.
22. Not belittling the loss of anyone's child, but 1000 car deaths a year in Tennessee is like a Sandy Hook happening every single day in this state alone. Let's ban automobiles if it will save JUST ONE CHILD. And actually, it would save at least one child...probably every single day or the year. 23. I cook almost exclusively on cast iron skillets. I love them. Got two skillets I use regularly, unsure of the make. I also got this today from the Wife. She's awesome like that.   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00022OK2A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00022OK2A&linkCode=as2&tag=tecstu-20   She also got me one of these:   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087UYR1S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0087UYR1S&linkCode=as2&tag=tecstu-20   Typically all that is needed to clean out the skillets after cooking is a bit of oil and a paper towel. However, bacon and other things sometimes leave a gunky/sticky residue of fats/etc. This "scrubber" is very good at getting it off, and supposedly won't pull off your seasoning as bad as something such as steel wool. It seems that there are many, many people that all agree that they love cast iron, but start researching how to clean it and you will find 10 different people that will all tell you that the other 9 people are wrong.   Typically, if what I am cooking does not stick at all, I just wipe the pan out with a paper towel and then apply a very small amount of oil. If it sticks a bit (meat or cheese, etc), I find that taking a very small amount of water to the hot pan will most of the time "melt" the gunk. Then a paper towel will wipe it right out.   This is what I've been doing for quite a while now, and most foods do wonderfully well in there. How do you all clean yours?
