I think it would be easier to just carry a gun. I kid I kid. What I'm looking for would be moreso for "professional" wear in which you are tucking a shirt. Thought about boot/ankle knives and also lanyard/neck type knives.
-
Right, good thing I don't hang around those places anymore:) However, I was merely stating that a few "tough guys" at the school with a blade could have potentially put a quicker stop to the stabbing.

For multiple reasons, this morning I have been thinking about a fixed blade knife. For one, we won (at least this one). So I have been contemplating the idea of IWB fixed blade concealed carry that can be tucked. I'm thinking this would be decent for times when you cannot conceal a firearm. A blade could be very thin and concealable. Obviously knife fights suck and nobody wins a knife fight, but the only thing worse in a knife fight is not having a knife for the knife fight! Just got to thinking about the stabbing up north. Some of the "victims" were 17 year olds. Now, surely at a high school there are some big guys (football, wrestling, etc) that could have put up a fight? What if everyone had been carry some sort of blade? Just got me thinking, that's all. Any tuckable sheaths that conceal quite nicely a quality blade?

So I worked up the plan to go and have the phone looked at via a local repair shop. He took a look at it (and a video of it malfunctioning). He asked if he could pop it open and I gave him permission. He says that everything for the most part looked good inside, claimed no water damage, claimed OEM screen, said that he *thought it probably hadn't been opened up and messed with before. I suggested that perhaps the ribbon cable for the screen was loose. He unseated it and seated it again. Didn't charge anything for this. I had such a good feeling about this but unfortunately upon bringing it home I'm seeing that it is doing the exact same thing that it was before I took it too him; No worse, no better. I'm beginning to think that something on the logic board may just be shot. I may run it up to Apple just for kicks and giggles with no real expectation. Sucks too because I had such a great feeling about this.

Just emailed Sen. Mike Bell. I'm proud to say that he is my Senator for the state of Tennessee. I've emailed him before about potentially helping us repeal some firearms laws in the future. Now, I realize that it is a long shot in some cases for some laws, but we have to start somewhere and Bell may be interested in doing so. So email him your support!

Oh I agree. But at what cost is my concern? I was quoted $120 by that guy over the phone, but that was sight unseen and just going by what I told him. Right now my priority is to contact the seller and at least call him out on it. If he basically says "screw you" then I will either fix it or sale it.

No, only propane and propane accessories.

I'll vouch for your story. You may not remember me because of how stealthy I can be. If you did by chance detect me I was the guy wearing old army fatigues talking to the counter guy about my current SWAT Sniper experience and how much what I learned while being a Recon Sniper helped during this one hostage "event" at the mall I run security for (SWAT does NOT pay enough by the way so I have to supplement my income by working private sector security - I oversee a team of four and we train daily for "events" and "situations". Don't ask me to explain the difference between an "event" and a "situation" because I am not allowed to but there IS a difference). What we had at ETW was definitely a situation, but obviously I cannot go into detail why. But obviously gunbartender deserved to be drawn upon but was even shown that mercy by the guy behind the counter because it was a "situation" and not an "event". -
Right, I thought that was the case but didn't know. Honestly right now I am trying to at least get in touch with the guy. I have a feeling that if I try hard enough, I can at least find they guy long enough to let him know what I think. I'm not going to try and escalate anything, but simply call him out on it and give him the chance of undoing the sale. I doubt he would take me up on that offer but you never know. Sometimes good people make mistakes by selling things they think work right but don't. If he has no interest in hearing what I have to say, then I will just drop it. $300 is not worth any trouble over, I just want to give him the chance if he'll take it. Without proof of fraud/scam there probably isn't much at all that the police would be interested in, is there? If I end up being stuck with it, my wife and I will plan a day to Knoxville and stop at the Apple Store while we are there. If they won't fix it, I will just Ebay it I suppose. Of course I will be fully upfront about the issues.

I am considering a drive to the Genius Bar. However, that's an hour+ one way trip. I've already spent $300 on a Nexus 5, $300 on an iPhone 5, and now driving an hour away to be (potentially) told that I can spend $280 to replace the phone...sucks. I know I've read stories of people walking in and walking out with an exchange for free. My phone has been out of warranty for a while now apparently (according to Apple on the phone). Liar told me it was a month old. The phone was purchased in April 2013. I'd bet $20 that it is a parts phone. Apple probably cannot even do anything since it is likely that it has been opened. Thinking on a local repair shop.

No I have not but I definitely will tomorrow. I have done a lot of googling but it is honestly a difficult thing to search for. Strange that the last hour or so has been 100%. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like a bad connection on the screen. They are not hard to change but you will break this one most likely trying to get it off. I think either get your money back or buy a screen and do a proper repair and makesurethe connections are made correctly.
Well...this was my first thought as well. however, I am wondering about the seemingly coincidence that most/all of the times that it happens is when I plug it up. I am wondering if either a bad cable or bad charging port could be shorting the phone out internally. I have been messing around with it for a while now...even torquing the body this way and that way...nothing yet. I am going to run it down to about 10% battery and see if it happens again. At that point I will charge it and see how quickly it happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, I found an iPhone 5 on Craigslist today. I went for it and paid $300 for it. I took all the precautions I could think of and checked the ESN. The phone looks 95% to 100% new, somewhere in between. Took it back to work and was happy. Loaded my iCloud account was happy for the find. Long story short, I've spent quite a few hours since then battling with it because it seems there is some short/fault internally that messes with the screen. On rebooting the phone, it doesn't really wish to turn back on correctly. The screen can be manipulated at times, but not all the time, but torquing the case a little. I've included a few different photos below. When it "works", it works. I spent 30 minutes "testing" it by playing a movie. It worked the whole time. On reboot, it screwed up again and took a while of messing with it to get it back on. Disclaimer: I have successfully restored and updated to the latest iOS. Now, I am thinking this is 100% hardware related. I'm also thinking I got screwed via Craigslist by a seller knowing but covering the issues. My first thought was that it was water damage, however I checked the indicator in the Nano SIM slot and I don't think water was a factor. It could be severe drop damage, but it must have been in a case because the body is practically flawless. I am thinking that it was a Frankenstein phone flipped by one of these phone DIY'ers that was broken and then had a home fix job. I've tried getting back to the guy but his phone was off. This makes since because in the store he transferred his number to a dumb dead phone and was planning on purchasing a new smartphone soon. I will continue to try and call this guy but I feel that without an act by Congress nothing will ever happen with calling this guy for a refund. I understand that most things are sold as/is, but this is fraud type stuff right here if he knew it had issues. Based upon what I've seen from the phone tonight, he could not have used it without knowing it had issues because I had issues within an hour. So, any ideas/advice on what specifically could be the issue? FIxes? Any other ideas? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't:

I think you lied about the price too! Just kidding. It does show as $349.99 for me though.

I may be wrong, but I think it only happens if you use the free version of Tapatalk. Anyone chime in here?

I'm thinking of buying a new indoor garbage can. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Edit: Oh I thought this thread was about trash. Sorry!

9mm Luger w/ 115 RN w/ IMR 700-x Load Information
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Just loaded 25 rounds. Took my time learning step by step. All rounds are within .005" of 1.14". FC=3.8 PPU=4.0 PMC=4.2 WIN=4.4 WWC=4.6 Weighed each charge and tared the scales to each casing before charging. I followed the directions and tried a light crimp. Going to try and fire them tomorrow. List of everything I should watch for and do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Oh yes, I indeed forgot something. I was reading through these instructions: http://leeprecision.com/cgi-data/instruct/Pistol4.pdf I remembered that the bullet seating depth is not set by how far you screw in your die but rather how deep the bullet seating screw is set. I was dreading adjusting the lock rings to change bullet types but that is a non-issue altogether! Even though I'm a bit nervous, I'm going to get started tonight and try to load a few rounds! So what I am going to do is find 10 pieces of 5 different headstamp brass (10xFederal, 10xPMC, etc). I am going to write on a pad of paper how much powder each headstamp has, starting at 3.8 Grs and doing something like this: 3.8 PMC 3.9 WCC 4.0 PMU 4.1 F.C. 4.2 Speer Hopefully I will have 10 of 5 different head stamps! So, on the length, 1.15" or a tiny fraction less? I think everything is good but the crimp. I've read the Lee instructions, suppose I"ll go with that? I want as light of a crimp as possible. -
I bet I used too much Lemishine. I'll use it very, very sparingly next time. Single good drop of dish soap? I used 3 tbsp of Joy! I thought it needed lots of soap?
-
Warm or cold water when rinsing? I'm wondering if I used a bit too much Lemishine, I probably used 1.5 Tsp. I guess next time I will try to make sure it gets 100% dry.

9mm Luger w/ 115 RN w/ IMR 700-x Load Information
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
That's something I suppose I will just have to learn to account for. I've read many places to never exceed that maximum load for a cartridge, but when different books show different loads using the same components you are bound to exceed the maximum load listed somewhere. I'm not afraid of using too little powder; I'm afraid of using too much! As far as the maximum length goes. If I set my die to 1.15" or so for this round and then purchase some HP bullets at some point, I should be able to use the same length for the HP as with these plated RN, right? What I would like to do is set my bullet seating die at a "universal" or standard length and then lock the lock rings in really tight so I don't have to fool with it any longer. What would that length likely be, or is it best that I adjust .05" or so between bullet types? -

GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
So I wanted to clarify something I was asking earlier in this thread. LRN bullets take less powder because the lead creates a better seal with the barrel, right? Plated/FMJ bullets take a bit more powder because the seal is not as great thus some gases escape, right? Glock/Polygonal rifling creates a better seal with the bullet than with traditional lands and grooves, right? If I start at anything over 3.7 Grs. of the 700-X, is it possible or likely that the polygonal rifling will cause pressures in excess of safe levels? It just concerns me starting out higher than the LRN data that IMR provides me with. In all, I need an in depth reloading manual with lots of data. I suppose I will start 3.3 Grs. and work my way up 1/10 Gr. to around 4.0 Grs. Will 5 bullets of each load suffice?
