  2. I think it was you that said the Ranger was a good buy. Well, if you were closer I would meet-up with you just so you could try this one out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3.   I had to re-read the very fist sentence several times before I realized that I did not read it incorrectly.   I had low expectations, but this "article" broke all expectations and was unbelievable.
  4. Oh you guys. I came home yesterday after reading through this at work and craving spicy stuff. I cooked me up some chili curry salmon on rice that I mixed in some ghost pepper hot sauce. It was good:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Lets first throw this out there. People typically spend $300-$1000 for a firearm, a minimum of $115 (not including any class fees) initially in the State of Tennessee for your HCP, $20-$200 for a holster, but then skimp on the belt. Why? The second best thing about a good gun belt is that you can wear it even when you aren't carrying! I started out carrying with a $159.95 High Noon Holsters' "Rock Steady" belt. It was by far the nicest belt I had ever owned up until that point. I thought it couldn't get any better. I carried this way for probably 6-12 months thinking I couldn't get any better. However, I then began to experiment with synthetic type belts. I began carrying with the "Spec-Ops Brand Better BDU Belt". By this time my High Noon Rock Steady was showing wear and stretch. Overall, the Spec-Ops Brand BDU belt is a nice belt, especially for the price. However, in order to "carry right" with that belt, you must clench it quite tightly so that your holster and gun is secured by being pulled against your body. Although it worked, it was uncomfortable. I kept seeing reviews and ads on various gun websites for the Ares Gear Ranger belt. It is a really long story, but in a nutshell I bought one and then won two via a photo contest that they had. I had three of these things! I loved them. My biggest gripe was having to take the buckle off to feed it through your pants/holster/etc. However, the "stiffness" of the belt made it a great and nearly perfect gun belt. I can thank our very own Macgyver for persuading me to give it a try when I finally inquired about it on TGO. (Shameless Plug: I have two of these Rangers on Ebay right now until 7/22/2014 to fund my Aegis purchase. Ranger and Ranger Enhanced PALS). Ares Gear has been testing a new buckle design for a while and letting some people give it a go. Well, somehow I missed it but they started selling them outright a few months ago. I had to have one! The "Ranger Buckle" is the Cobra QR buckle. It's a nice buckle and made in Australia. The new "Aegis" buckle is made in USA. So, here it is! A great thing about Ares Gear is they have a lifetime warranty for anything they make. If you ever have an issue with a piece of gear that we made and you bought from us or one of our dealers, we will repair or replace it. Forever. We're here for you. When I first received this belt today, my first thought was literally "I've overdone it now! This buckle is literally too big!". However, after actually testing the belt I decided that the buckle is actually perfect and will do just fine. One thing I really like about the buckle is that on the back it is stamped with what size it is. That's good to have once you start having multiples. (Click the image below to see at full-size). Now, I know many here are probably Android but Apple is the way to go! Now, I know that is possibly just as or more dangerous that 9mm Luger vs .45 ACP, AK-47 vs AR-15, or Glock vs Anything, but the point is that this buckle is quite thick. But it is nice! Basically, the way this buckle works is when the sliding pin is loose the belt slides right through. You can see this in the photo where the pin is to the right. Then, when you pull the belt to the length you want, you just slide the pin a bit over to put tension on the webbing. You can see that here. This belt is easily and infinitely adjustable. It is "secure" once the pin is set. So far I am more impressed with this belt than any other belt, ever. Now, keep in mind that this is the "enhanced" version, meaning that it is thicker than their standard belt. Personally, I recommend that if they have your color and size combination to purchase your Ares Gear from LarueTactical.com. They always include some Dillo Dust and an Armadillo (if you don't know what these are you will just have to order to find out!). Ares Aegis Ares Sizing LarueTactical
  6.   But that's just it I suppose. I am not interested in having a firearm I cannot shoot because then I'll be out of ammo and then I cannot buy ammo for because I cannot find it without paying someone on Armslist for it. I had a guy brag to me that he sold CCI for $15 per 100. IF .22lr is ever again readily available I would purchase a .22lr very quickly. But if it is going to be like this or worse, I no longer have as much interest in .22lr as I do larger calibers. Which is sort of why I created this thread. Everyone seems to say you "need" a .22lr (would be 100% true if bulk ammo was everywhere). I'm just thinking the opportunity cost of this could be better spent somewhere else, such as bulk reloading supplies or the like.
  7. From what I've seen, at a store a "trade up" would probably mean $200-$300 cash on your end for such a trade. That's assuming excellent condition. If I were you, sell it outright on here or the like. If you play your cards right you could come out even if you are patient.
  8. So, years ago when I first saw the Marlin XT-22TSR I fell in love with it. Took me a while to find one but when I did I instantly bought it. Recently I found a Nikon P22 scope and bought it. I have probably 1000 rounds of .22lr. I have not shot the thing for probably three years even though I would love to shoot it every time I go to the range. Ammo ability (of the lack thereof) is why I no longer shoot it. When I can reload 9mm for about $0.10 a round, why have a 22? So I figure I could probably sell the rifle, ammo and scope for $450. I figure if .22lr ever becomes cheap again I can purchase another rifle and ammo. Wouldn't mind having $450 right now. What do you all think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I remember Groupon taking time to "analyze" their market and temporarily remove any firearms related deals a few years ago, but it looks like they have brought back allowing such deals to be sold through them. I use them on a monthly basis to make my cash go a little bit further on purchases that I can.   If you don't have a Groupon account, you should create one!   Anyway, $45 for a HCP at The Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga is not a bad deal.   Also, if you are a Discover cardholder, you can login to your online account, click "Cashback Bonus", "Start Shopping", and then select "Groupon" as the merchant, you will recieve 5% cashback ($2.25) when you make your purchase.
  10. Where are they located? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Not that I would do this personally but could see some doing so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That one is so easy it is stupid. Arrange to have them meet you somewhere but do not show. I bet they do if you offer to pay their asking price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. If you don't want it, I might want it! Guy on ArmsList that has a G26 Gen 4 LNIB that wants to trade it for an XDs .45.
  14. Ooh:) TN is #5 in the nation for % of population with cc permit. 9.35%, 468,079 permits as of 5/14.   This however, would not be true I estimate if you were able to determine how many people carry in states that do not require a permit.
  15. We really like the show "Psych". In the show their Toyota Echo they call it "The Blueberry". My Wife loves raspberries so she has already named it "The Raspberry". She's awesome like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well. I really hope that I don't end up this bad! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Well...I guess the truth is if I go 4 years without having to replace anything major, I will be happy. If I do and the warranty covers it, then I will be happy. If I do and the warranty does not cover it for whatever reason I will be upset. So you think the timing chain issue should be trusted as much as Honda claims? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18.   I think I found something via Honda that suggests it *never needs replacing, for as long as the engine is "good".       http://automobiles.honda.com/information/frequently-asked-questions.aspx?Question=6
  19.   http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2387884   According to.
  20.   So do you agree that the timing chain should last another good while? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yeah that's sort of what I am finding as I do research. However it has a timing chain and some conflicting sources claim 200,000 to 300,000 the timing chain should last. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. So yesterday we traded in the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta that has plagued us for a while. Now my Wife has a Honda Fit 2007 with ~95,000 miles on it. I've always been told by so many "Honda" people that Hondas are some of the most reliable vehicles you can buy. I hope this is the case.   Just wanting input from any available Honda people regarding to-do's, don't do's, should do's, and would do's.   Also, the finance lady at the local dealership talked me into "extended warranty coverage" from All-State, 48 month/48,000 miles.   https://allstatecarcare.com/Misc/PopUps/ViewOnBaseImage.aspx?OnBaseImageID=303   "Silver" coverage. Roughly $1,200 cost. $200 deductible. I told myself that I would not let myself be talked into this but sure enough I did. It sounds decent, but does anyone have any experience with the like?
