  1. Found some great thunderstorm recordings with Frostwire. Of course I'll be hunting for the place to send royalties so I can become legal with them....
  2. I went up to the Virginia Highlands Festival antique sales area this afternoon. Wonder why vendors kept trying to sell me old straight razors?
  3. The weather is supposed to be nice for a few days. I think I'll set up a sprinkler on the roof and find a recording of a thunderstorm to play.
  4. We had a pretty good turnout because of the House race. Davis, the incumbent, is pretty weird and only got in two years ago because two stronger candidates split the non-nutso vote. He took all sorts of PAC money and outspent Roe about 4:1. I'd say his negative and rather obviously misleading attack adds hurt him by at least the 251 vote shift needed to get reelected. The margin was exactly 500 votes. He got what he deserved. As has been mentioned above, Roe is no angel but both of them get A ratings from NRA. Over here, this was really the election for the seat. Some Democrat is running, but it's just token opposition. On to November! Hope I like the outcome on that one....
  5. I moved it with my first post. I just don't see it as a political question. But I think there is a permanent redirect to here. I'm not deleting it. It's a fair question, if someone is interested. I was just curious about why there is an interest in this.
  6. Last night was fresh Tomatoes and clean out the refrigerator night - turnips with homemade cucumber relish and October beans (cranberry beans). Had a tomato sandwich for lunch too. Tonight is probably mole chicken tostadas. I just call them "crunchers."
  7. Phil Roe 25,916 - 50 percent David Davis (i) 25,416 - 49 percent
  8. So, what is the purpose of this topic? Curiosity? Research project?
  9. Hate to admit it but a PPK was the hardest handgun I've ever had to reassemble after a field strip. There is some part that runs down the side that has to be pressed in to install the slide. It's obvious - after you see it.
  10. None of the above but: My relationship to my God is a private matter. I have little respect for those who wish to make it a public one. BTW, I'm moving this out of the political topics.
  11. When you are thirsty, teeth will work.
  12. A lot better than having Davis in the US House for another 2 years. He was one of the very, very, few members of either the House or Senate to vote against greater penalties for dog fighters bring the canines across state lines. The man is an embarrassment to the district. He's run a campaign attempting to deceive the public about himself and his opponent using huge amounts of PAC funds, that Roe refused to accept. Just nothing right about the guy. I suspect (hope) that the public isn't as stupid as his handlers think they are. We'll see in a couple of hours. I don't know of any legislators I totally agree with. Do you? You really, really, think Davis is the better candidate? I think it's time to start someone on the seniority tour who has a chance of becoming a leader in the House. We've already wasted two years.
  13. Well, he's running for US Rep, not state.
  14. That was yesterday morning, about 5 AM for me. Far too early for beer and cigars.
  15. I early voted. Didn't have to disarm. I vote at the Sullivan County Courthouse. No signs - the way the gods intended. I'm eagerly awaiting the outcome hoping that our idiot one-term US Rep will get replaced. NRA endorsed the turd. He had an "A" rating, but so did his primary (Republican) opponent. Sometimes, the NRA is a bunch of dip-heads.
  16. Ah, another good day. Thunderstorm is happening now. Went out on the porch and watched the rain with a beer and stogie. Since the thunder wasn't too bad, even the poodle came out with me. Got the urge to pee off the porch - so I did. I just wish my neighbor would come out so I'd have something to shoot at.
  17. Very good post, wjh2657. Lots of useful and knowledgeable info there!
  18. A P3AT is a 380, like the LCP. 3AT (Three Ay Tee - get it? )
  19. Works for me.
  20. All of the 700s are good rifles. But a good target gun may not be a good hunting rifle. I have a 700VS in 308. Super accurate but I would want something lighter for hunting. You just might want to decide what you really want the rifle for and buy accordingly.
  21. Hi-Point has a 380 COMP. What is the COMP for? Certainly not COMPact.
  22. Well, the LCP and P3AT are certainly much more concealable. At the same time, they are a bit harder to handle because of their lower mass. Personally, If I was going to carry a 380 Auto as a primary concealed handgun, I'd move up to a 9mm. The little P3AT is great as a BUG or casual carry gun.
  23. I'll have to see if I can get my half inch drill to work. Last time I checked the reverse was screwed up.
  24. I thought that was cute - and all too sensible. BTW, does she have any talents other than in the bedroom?
  25. Ol Al was an idiot with or without a Nobel Award.
