I was pleased enough to see some 100pks of Winchester Super X 22lr that I almost completely missed the 1000pk of M22 and multiple 555pks of Winchester 22lr. About $7, $51, and $28 respectively.... This was at the local Walmart. BTW, the box of M22 is gone.

You bet! And, like the others have said I hope you stick around on TGO.

Woman shoots as robbers flee.
Ski replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
At least the gun wasn't in her purse. -
I waited in line to vote for about forty (40) minutes this evening.

Perhaps they could put in a little extra effort and contour them to match the proportions of some common rounds.

Either that or he had a miserably sore neck from constantly looking over his shoulder...

I am quite surprised that the Commercial Appeal has published the correction on the front page of their website right next to Arnold Palmer's death. I'll be more surprised if it's still featured so prominently tomorrow morning. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/regional/tennessee-five--not-105--accidental-gunshot-deaths-in-2014-3d5cb0d3-5ada-6faf-e053-0100007fae4f-394752981.html

I've prayed for you and your wife, and I will continue to do so. There have been many good comments, and I hope they bring you at least a little solace.

He has some odd ideas about how to test things. I watched the first one about the effectiveness of "hyper" ammo and one testing the theory of using bird shot for home defense--not sure if that's one of the ones that was posted above. The testing method was pretty reasonable for the bird shot one.

I am disappointed to hear this. I'd hoped the trigger would break sooner in single action mode on the G2 version of that part of Taurus' line. It definitely takes some work to adjust to such a late break.

How depressing. All but the guy at the poverty line thought tax rates were okay, and that guy wanted to tax the rich. And, I had no idea union dues were that high for a poverty level worker. Unless those dues include some meaningful health insurance or pension that's disgusting!

Policy wonk proposes practically eliminating cash
Ski replied to Hershmeister's topic in General Chat
I suspect that was part of the article to which he linked, but I'm not sure because I'm one of those cheapskates that don't subscribe. Not only would the government like to track guns, they'd like to track cash, too. -
In Shelby County the judge that seems to be the primary liaison with the Jury Commissioner said that our service was particularly valuable for that precise reason. Apparently it's not unusual for the presence of the potential jurors to cause defendants to reconsider taking a plea deal. While it's wasteful that they didn't take the deal sooner, it's cheaper than taking it to trial. The first of my jury duty experiences ended in a similar fashion. The judge was Joe Brown before his days as a "TV star". The difference was that they had not seated anyone into the jury box. The potential jurors were all in the vestibule awaiting admittance to the court room when the plea deal went down.

I saw a few comments, and that was enough. People can sure be crude.

Don't look now, but TGO appears to use Google analytics, too. There is a lot of drivel on twitter, but I've found it can be quite useful. I see it as particularly useful for businesses and other organizations to get the word out on late breaking news or as "push notifications" to notify individuals of things they've published. A specific example would be for event cancellations due to inclement weather. I don't have a twitter account for what that's worth.

Nice...but I take it you weren't talking on an expensive smart phone. :-)

Houston Store Robbery: Suprise, Speed, Violence of Action
Ski replied to btq96r's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I found it odd that they seemed to have no interest in the cash register, but they did steal a customer's wallet. I was amused that they kept trying to kick in that safe room door that opens out. Obviously that didn't work out so well for them. Finally, the sensationalized narration annoyed me. I'm certainly glad no one seemed to be hurt. -
Here's another potential buying opportunity. The value being offered at this "Turn It In" event doesn't seem to be specified..."gift cards" or "zoo passes". I'm not sure if Daniel Connolly is just lazy or if Janis Fullilove intended to be vague about the value or issuer of said "gift cards". http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/crime/gun-turn-in-program-set-for-saturday-39e6fbf1-e376-7e12-e053-0100007ff1d6-390045721.html

The settlement website was finally updated. It indicates that the judge did approve the settlement on 7/22/2016. However, it states "The claims filing process cannot begin until the appeals process concludes." And, it states there has already been an appeal. https://www.tauruscartersettlement.com/

The settlement website has not been updated, but Law360 indicates that the judge did give final approval last week. http://www.law360.com/articles/820419/judge-oks-239m-class-settlement-over-faulty-guns Unfortunately they also have an article regarding claims that Taurus is not replacing all of the affected pistols. They want to inspect them first. I'm not sure what there is to inspect if this is really a design flaw. http://www.law360.com/articles/817228/taurus-reneging-in-30m-faulty-gun-deal-court-told

A guy at work said he's been there since the change and liked it. I've never shot there, and I have not been in the store since the new owner opened up shop.

I like the presentation with the bark and leaves. Nicely done... Oh, and nice pistol... :-)

I've spent a lot of money at Academy Sports, but....
Ski replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
Thank for you for the transcription. I wish I'd noticed that before I read the other image Oh Shoot posted (thanks OS!). I agree. It's sad to see. I understand the statement they're trying to make, but I think unity is more important. I'd have rather they did it quietly, but I reckon they were mainly out to boost their own image among the die-hards. Perhaps I'm too cynical. -

I'd be glad to see Target humbled some. Kohl's is actually down more over the last three (3) months, but I'd see Walmart as the closest comparison. I guess we shall see as the year progresses. -

I would be grateful if someone with superior acuity to mine would tell me what it says. I'll jump in here with a few general comments. I'm as big a cheapskate as anyone, and I hate price gouging. I'll probably never do business with CTD. On the flip side I was was pleased at Kroger's response to Mom's Demand Action. I'm in a similar situation to Lincoln in that my choices for grocery shopping are limited. I'm willing to give Academy a little time to see what they do next. I was surprised to find they are not a publicly traded company. As such they have more leeway to take a political stand. Publicly traded companies really don't have a lot of leeway to take political stands when it would clearly damage their profitability. Their boards and executives have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize value for their shareholders. I seriously doubt Kroger's board and/or executives felt like they were going out on a limb in opposition to MDA's demand. As a contrast Target (among others) seems to have clearly dismissed the importance of traditionalist conservatives to their bottom line based on their stances on so many issues. Best I can tell it really hasn't hurt them much. Either those people don't care enough to change their buying habits, didn't really shop there to begin with, or aren't really hurting their business by staying away. I thought they might be hurt more by their major credit card breach, but obviously not. Tracy
