I found it interesting that the narration seems to indicate she was carrying an unloaded gun.

It is my understanding that "intentional acts" are usually excluded. Shooting someone in self defense would probably be considered an intentional act. https://www.insure.com/car-insurance/umbrella.html

Looks like the TN ammo tax has been repealed
Ski replied to Jason in TN's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Tom Gresham posted a link to this video on Twitter. Apparently the TN ammo tax was repealed effective July 1, 2019. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=HB0494 om Gresham -
That's at least the second fatal shooting at a Walmart this week. Earlier today the El Paso CBS affiliate reported gang terrorism, but that reference has been removed saying a white male is in custody.

I will echo what some others have said and provide my own 2 cents. I think for most general users the change from Windows 7 to 10 is fairly minor (unlike the difference between 7 and 8 which was drastic). I known more than one person that still uses XP. While there's no substitute for an up-to-date operating system, I wouldn't be particularly concerned about keeping 7 after Microsoft stops supporting it. I plan to continue to use Windows 7 on my primary desktop. The real problem with keeping 7 is likely to come several years later when the anti-virus and browser makers stop supporting Windows 7. I would be more concerned if it was a laptop you would be connecting to public WiFi. I would consider that too risky once support for 7 ends. I agree that refurbs can be a good choice if you do decide to replace your existing desktop. I recommend sticking with a desktop unless the portability would be something you would like. In my experience they maintain their performance level longer than laptops. That could be less of an issue with modern solid state hard drives. Desktops are more "user serviceable" and cheaper to fix. I would not be in a rush to do anything now if your desktop is working fine. Maybe Santa will bring you a new one. :-) Tracy

The local Fox affiliate ran a story about the increased use of rifles in crime and used Bennie Cobb, a "certified firearms and rifle instructor" and former captain with the Shelby Co. Sheriff's Office, as the main source. There are several things that struck me as untrue or misleading at the very least. Am I wrong? https://www.fox13memphis.com/top-stories/rifles-now-the-street-weapon-of-choice-due-to-easy-access-in-our-area-expert-says/961526525 Where can I buy an AK online for $150? You also do not have to have a license to carry a handgun if it's not loaded. Rifles cannot legally be "carried" loaded (with exceptions for protecting livestock, hunting, etc) without a permit.. If I recall properly, you can have a loaded riffle in your vehicle if you have a HCP. Where is this place online that I can purchase rifles that don't require transfer to a FFL (and a background check)? I suppose it's theoretically true that one could be a rifle online without going through a dealer if it were within the state. But,, his statement makes it sound like background checks don't apply to online purchases of rifles.

There were actually two (2) "roadway shootings" overnight. The other was near Sam Cooper and I-240. It sounds like that one was related to a disagreement at a night club. https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2019/06/26/police-investigate-pair-roadway-shootings/ https://www.fox13memphis.com/top-stories/argument-at-club-leads-to-shots-being-fired-on-memphis-road-mpd-says/961578611

I subscribe to the Sling Blue package during the NBA season to watch Grizzlies games. The bill was $27.36 per month with taxes/fees, and you can cancel any time; your service will continue until the period for which you already paid ends. I am not crazy about their user interface, but their service has been solid. I tried their cloud DVR, but canceled it after the first month. It was not available on certain channels. In particular it was not available on Fox Sports SE alt 1, and that's the channel that covered most of the Griz games. I could "record' the games that came on FSSE alt 2. I anticipate I'll sign up again in the fall. They will also run specials where you get some sort of hardware (like a Roku or HD antenna) if you prepay for two (2) or three (3) months when you start new service. One nice thing is that a lot of the programming is available "on demand", so even if you don't have Cloud DVR you can likely watch the regular shows whenever you want. Live PD was an example of a show that was available "on demand". Let me know if you have any questions.

OK...who left their gun in the car in Millington?
Ski replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
Here's a later article with more details. The owner of said vehicle has been charged. https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2019/05/15/mother-shot-by-son-baseball-game-police-describes-it-an-accident/ -
I received a 9MM G2C in exchange for a first generation 24/7 Pro DS (40c) that had extraction issues and was subject to the Taurus Carter settlement. So far, I've only put twenty (20) rounds through it. The good news is that I didn't have any problems with those rounds. Hopefully I'll have a chance to put more rounds down range soon. She should definitely handle several candidates before she selects one. It would be even better if she can find some candidates to borrow or rent. She might discover how they shot affects her choice.

I need another podcast to listen to like I need another hole in my head, but I decided I'd look into "In the Dark". I listened to S2E13, and I was really impressed with the quality.

Let me introduce you to The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). I think they've done more for the 2nd Amendment in the courts over the last ten (10) or twelve (12) years. The NRA has focused more on the legislative side. https://www.saf.org/ I am a member of NRA and SAF.

Found it on an end cap at the Aldi in Collierville. The bottles were smaller than I imagined. There was about a box (mixed) left. I bought a bottle of Chipotle. I am not a fire eater, and I didn't think it was hot at all. Good, though. Have some more.

I rented a Glock 22, M&P compact (.40 I think), and a Ruger SR9c. I liked the trigger on the SR9c the best, but I was talked out of considering it. The Sig P320 hadn't been out long, and I got to dry fire one--there wasn't one available to rent at that point. I was strongly considering the P320 when Bud's had a good deal on some Police turn in M&Ps, so I ended up with a M&P40c.

I bought a new 24/7 Pro DS. The trigger pull was super long, but the main issue was with feeding. I experienced failures to feed (hanging on extractor) about 10% of the time with brass cased ammo (with both mags). It fed steel cased ammo fine--the grooves on the steel cases is different. I returned it. I got it back in about two (2) weeks with an indication that it had been "adjusted". I could tell the extractor had been filed. Then it only failed about 5% of the time. I called, and they told me they had no problems with it using American Eagle ammo--I've never seen steel cased AE. They begrudgingly paid for me to send it back again. This time they "adjusted" it again and replaced the recoil spring assembly. After that I was able to shoot about 400 rounds (mostly brass cased ammo) before it started experiencing failures again. I decided to exchange it when the settlement agreement was finalized. Taurus botched that for sure. It took way too long. They finally sent my replacement without any contact information, so it set at the FFL for weeks before I called to check on it. I didn't like either choice I was offered. I might have tried the Curve, but there is a major flaw. If you short stroke the trigger, you have to rack it before the trigger will reset. And, no sights... That's why I'm now a Taurus skeptic (at least for their own semi-auto designs). We'll see if I lighten my stance any once I shoot my replacement.

I called Taurus last week since it had been eight (8) weeks, and they said it was delivered the week after Thanksgiving, so I dropped by my dealer the next day. It arrived with my name on it but no contact information. Now, I just have to decide whether to try to sell it "new" or shoot it and decide after that.
