  1. I remember finding out about it when I got into work that morning.  I don't remember if only one plane had hit or two (2) at that point.  I worked near the Memphis airport at the time, and it was eerily quiet outside once all of the planes were grounded.  I worked for a commercial airline, and those were uncertain days for us.  I remember using the United website to check the status of one of their flights that had crashed.  Needless to say I was surprised that they listed the status as having arrived early.  I wonder if I still have that printout somewhere.
  2.   Were you able to find out the problem?  I'm interested in the P320, and I'd like to know.   Thanks
  3. I got to feel the trigger pull on one of these today.  I'd like to hear a range report, too.   Thanks
  4.   Should I OC a 45 or CC a 9?  ;-)

    Show and Tell

If it hadn't been for the apparent failure of his first safety--the one between his ears--it wouldn't have mattered whether the gun had one, two, three, or more.
  6. The poor thing still looks shell shocked. I'd hate to have seen it fresh out of the truck. I'm glad it's safe now.
  7. I occasionally use broadcastify.com to monitor the local PD scanner. Within the last week the dispatcher reported a call from someone saying some juveniles knocked on his or her door to complain about a man with a gun. The officer asked the dispatcher if the man had the gun in his hand or in a holster. Dispatcher said the complaint originated from some frightened juveniles and did not include that detail. The officer reported that he checked the location and didn't find anything. I was disappointed to hear such a call, but we definitely have our share of busybodies here.
  8. And, in this case you could have also mentioned that he would be causing you to have an awful day, and that you might be scarred for the rest of your life from having to deal with him.
  9. I didn't notice it in the SE corner of Shelby Co.
  10. It is safe to trim dead wood any time, but live wood is best cut during winter or after the blooms die depending on the bush. For example, Azaleas are best pruned after the blooms die.
  11. I'll echo this. I was able to use commercial antivirus software through work, but when I help others with their computers I generally go with AVG Free. It's good enough. Discernment is definitely key. I've had similar experiences with Symantec's home software. I've heard it's better now, but I stay away from it. If I think supplemental malware protection is needed, I use Spybot Search&Destroy.
  12. I was surprised to learn that the hotel and airfare bundles from sites like Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz can actually be cheaper than just buying the airfare alone. In March I traveled a day earlier than planned, stayed in the hotel booked as part of the bundle for just one night, and still saved money. The catch was that the flight choices were more limited than buying flights by themselves. I found some sites that had fares that were more than nominally cheaper than the big three (see above), but they were all for odd flight combinations. Some involved changing airports in big cities like NYC, Chicago, or London. Others involved overnight layovers. So, I'll probably be sticking with the big three (and airline sites) in the future. HTH
  13.   It seems to me that's the quickest way to get the drivers attention (if the radio's not blaring and they're not deaf) and hope (s)he hits the brakes.  If (s)he's backing out slowly, I think it might be your best chance.  Otherwise, jumping on the trunk or out of the way is the next best bet.
  14. Pardon me for laughing at that...
  15. Have dinner plans tonight, but if you're still in the area tomorrow evening I'd be game.
  16. You might think of Fedora as a Red Hat preview. It tends to fore run Red Hat. If you want Red Hat Enterprise Linux, have a look at CentOS. They take the Red Hat source code, take out the branding, and compile it for you. The major releases definitely lag Red Hat, but the bug fixes come out pretty quickly.
  17. I'm guessing he must have finished diversion.  I can no longer find the affidavit or any of the charges on the appropriate Shelby County web sites.
  18. Would you care to elaborate? I'm intrigued. Race certainly seems to have been used to push the socialist agenda. I'd be interested in how you think "gender and sexuality" play into that. I'm also curious about your angle on religion being used for the socialist agenda. I thought about asking a specific question or two, but I don't want to lead your answers. :-)
  19. There was a similar incident in Memphis in early June. http://wreg.com/2015/06/08/credit-union-employee-kidnapped-and-forced-to-let-robbers-inside/
  20. Here's an interesting read about their troubles.  Of course, the source isn't necessarily the most unbiased...   http://www.bloomberg.com/bw/articles/2014-05-29/colts-curse-gunmakers-owners-have-led-it-to-crisis-after-crisis
  21. I've been on Net10 for almost eight (8) years. My old Nokia is on the AT&T network, but that was by "luck of the draw". I didn't have any choice. I haven't had any problems, and I pay about $17/month ($30+tax&fees every 60 days) for more minutes than I need. It turns out T-Mobile's prepaid plan would have been more cost-effective based on how few minutes I use per month.
  22. I'm guessing things could go awry if someone tried to rotate tires balanced that way without re-balancing (or some "luck").
  23. The gas is usually cheaper there, but West Memphis is pretty sketchy. It seems to me that trying to fight back with the gun already through the window is likely to result in a discharge right in front of your face, brass to the face, disorientation, and blindness. Unless their finger was nowhere near the trigger, I don't think I'd want to take my chances on that one.
  24. Adam Swift's thinking reminds me of Rush's song "The Trees". I always assumed that song was written as satire. Gee, I hope so...
  25. According to the Knoxville News Sentinel Rodney Lee Scott was found guilty of the following (instead of attempted first degree murder). Attempted Voluntary Manslaughter Aggravated Assault (via a gun) Reckless Aggravated Assault (via his SUV) Leaving the Scene of an Accident Public Intoxication. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/knox-county-man-guilty-of-lesser-charge-in-road-rage-shooting_04695397
