  1. A book about pirates, a Cutco filet knife, triggers for my strobes, and hopefully I'll get more cool stuff once I get to AL later this evening.
  2. It was grape, tasted like crap without sugar in it. I wasn't abused for the theft, I was 5, the 5 or so swats I got didn't really hurt that bad. But it seemed like it. My father randomly shaking my twin til he stroked, now that was abuse. As for that kind of thing, if I see it. Someones goin to prison. I've been through it, and know there is a special place in hell for those kind of people.
  3. My mom busted my ass as a kid for stealing a pack of kool-aid from the grocery store. Hurt for a week. Then my thickheaded, little ***** self went off and took some candy. She had the cops come pick me up and put me in a cell for a spell. Never stole another thing in my life. I was 5. I think she did a damn fine job handling her daughter. Because god forbid she spank her child. She'd have been in jail herself and the kids in CPS custody, which I know from experience (due to my coke addicted alcoholic father) sucks more than anything.
  4. Cleared leather in Nashville about a year ago on a guy that pulled a knife on me. Didn't fire, scared him off til the cops could grab him a few minutes later. He was even nice enough to leave the knife with his fingerprints at my feet. He's still in prison with 5 years before he's eligible for parole.
  5. Keep it properly holstered and no one will even know you have it. And it you draw it, fire, don't let the bad guy get a chance to grab it. And I guarantee you they know how to disengage a safety. Back on topic. I was a die-hard Glock hater... Then I bought a 19, the dark side has treated me well.

    Red Dot Accuracy

Try turning the dot intensity down to where it is just visible. When it's on full power the dot it much bigger. Smaller the dot, smaller POA.
  7. Most people have to release their firing grip to drop the mag. On just about all pistols.
  8. 7.62 is a nice heavy round, that carries it's kinetic energy for a far longer distance than .223. And it can be very accurate, but overall most of it isn't premium ammo. Though it can be a lot cheaper depending on where you go.
  9. I've only got 1100 in credit cards, and that will be paid off by then. So this is mostly play money with some going into an IRA. And waiting for the SHOT show is a good idea. But if nothing comes of it, either the SCAR or one of Joe's SBR kits will be mine.
  10. Thanks to offering my soul up for 6 more years to Uncle Sam, I will be coming into a bunch of money in July. I need to figure out how to spend a chunk of it. I've already got a lot of stuff figured out, like Aimpoint T1 micro on a Larue High Rise mount, SF Scout light, lots of ammo, P-mags.... All the goodies. Now here comes the hard part. Should I get an M4 or the FN SCAR. And of course either will end up SBR'd. Please discuss and persuade me.
  11. That costs too much. I just use baby powder, keeps the skin soft too!
  12. Glock 19 (have) 1911 .45 ACP (have) M-4 5.56 (need) M1014 Auto 12G (these shotties rock my socks) 10/22 canned (for picking off critters for eating, and pesky children who want my family's food)

    Digital SLRs

I'm with mcurrier, normally wouldn't touch this question. But I'll give you the best advice you will ever hear about cameras. Go pick them up, get them in your hands. Figure out which one feels better, more natural to use. Can you adjust shutter speed and aperture without moving your eye from the viewfinder? How accurate is the auto-focus, is it fast enough? Does zooming in and out go naturally to you? All of these are very important things to consider. And whatever you do, do not go to Best Buy, HH Gregg, or anywhere else to ask questions about cameras. They simply do not know. They will feed you all kinds of BS, just so you leave with what they want you to have. Go to Drury's in downtown Nashville, they are very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. The understand what the word budget means, as well as what fits what you are looking for, and won't get butthurt if you don't buy.
  14. You all have done a very admirable thing. And it goes to show, that no matter what the person believes, the kindness of the human heart is the one thing that shines through all. I only wish that I could have contributed to this fund. Hopefully next year I will be able to.
  15. This is my thread.... So Dodge beats all.
  16. US Army 41st Small Arms Readiness Group, Fort McCoy, WI. June 07 to Feb 09. I fired several thousand rounds a day in demonstration, training, and weapons testing. Through various AR platforms.
  17. No I mean actually pulled the trigger on several million rounds through an AR.
  18. I'm a huge fan of a worked stock USGI Colt trigger. I've put literally millions of rounds through a fluffed and buffed 8lb trigger and never had a failure. Yet I have watched time and time again as two-stage triggers break with standard use. I've personally broken several sears on them, with just good ole paper punchin at distance. And put more then 7 or 8 thousand rounds through an RRA and they start to get finicky. I don't trust them at all. Get a Mil-Spec trigger and have a good gunsmith smooth it out for you. You'll love it forever.
  19. You'll make E-4 pay with no years in until OCS. Then you will make base E-6 pay until commission. And you won't make BAH while in IET but you will make separation pay.
  20. Me After years of saying it would never happen, the inevitable happened. I bought a Glock 19 off a friend of mine. Had to sell my J-Frame, but I feel it was worth it. Third gen, so I'm gonna throw a light on it, just cuz I want to. And now for the required porn. Now would anyone happen to have any mags I could buy in the next couple weeks?
  21. I second Denny Elliot, he is the **** with Kydex. Makes a good amount of stuff for Williamson, Dickson, and Franklin SWAT teams. Excellent workmanship, and a great price to boot.
  22. "Look officer I don't have any guns. Like I said, they were stolen, and the police reports are at the Sherriff's Office."

    FORE!

Hit one with a 45 one time. Had to hike a huge field to get it back. Couldn't even tell it had been hit except for a black smudge on the back. Fully mushroomed round inside of it, craziness.
  24. DAYUM!!!!!!!!
  25. I don't know about your friend, but when I perform a press check on any handgun, I have a full firing grip. Muscle memory, that way you never mis-grip your weapon. Practice it, and the whole grip safety thing becomes a non-issue.
