  1. This session brings the count to 3500 rounds through her. I'm very happy with it, and other than when I want to make it jam, it has never had an issue.
  2. kb4ns, that's exactly what it does, but a by product of it is increased muzzle control without mental/physically thinking about avoiding the flinch. It does a fantastic job of it.
  3. Take an empty and place it on the front sight while dry firing. Any movement during the dry firing cycle will cause the empty to fall off. It helps to identify any bad shooting habits.
  4. Took the my 1911 out today to burn up some leftover ammo I had and put her through the paces. Ran around 200 rounds of Remington ball, 50 Remington HP's, and 50 rounds of WWB HP's. Shot her bone dry just to see how'd she'd run and she ran like a champ, other than all the double feeds, FTL's, FTF's, and FTE's. But before you start Taurus bashing, it was engineered that way. I didn't want to just go throw lead down range, I wanted to train. So I ran a ton of failure drills by loading empties into the mags. It was quite eye opening how rusty I've gotten with them, but I've worked out all the kinks now and am back to a comfortable level of competency and speed. And I also noticed the terrible anticipatory flinch I have, I shoot steel so I had never noticed shooting low. So I worked on that as well, using the old shell on front sight trick. Got it a bit better but I need a lot more dry fire practice to iron it all the way out. But I'm happy with what I've accomplished today, and I highly recommend everyone go out and do failure drills to make sure that you can react appropriately and quickly in a failure situation.
  5. You can see as he racks the gun to hand it to his buddy a round gets extracted. Must have still had the mag in the gun.
  6. That's why I'm glad I'm an army instructor. Fear the black hats.
  7. VZ Operator II with the mag catch cut. Make life so much simpler for reloading, and have an enormous amount of bite that doesn't cut your side at all while carrying.
  8. Coming from my experience at The Outpost, its only a safety thing when bringing trades into the building. I don't want Joe Blow Redneck to hand me a loaded .500 S&W Mag, when he walked in carrying it in his hand. All of us got a little nervous when you walked in with a gun in hand, and a magazine inserted. It's not a "you can't carry here" thing, it's a "why on earth did someone sell you a firearm in the first place" thing for the dumb people in the world.
  9. Unload and clear. Double and triple check to make sure it's clear. Cycle the gun, the place you right thumb under the beaver tail, your first three fingers over the top of the slide, and finally, your pinkie on the trigger. Pull the slide back a bit like a press check with the fingers on the top of the slide. Use your left thumb and index finger to pull down on the dis-assembly switch, release the slide and pull the trigger with your pinkie. Clean thoroughly, and reassemble. Then practice this technique until your fingers bleed. Chris Barrett showed me this way of doing it, and with practice, you can tear it down scary fast.
  10. I run a Nikon D300, Nikkormat FT 2n, and a Nikon FM2. Along with a bag of big and expensive lenses. Don't ever cheap out on glass, bodies change but good glass lasts forever. The non-AI 105 2.5 I use for portraiture was born in the 60's. And it works flawlessly on my newer digital body as well as my film cameras.
  11. What's up with all the NV's?
  12. iPhone double tap.
  13. HS is one of those things you should always check. Because if you don't, there's a possibity that your bolt may not lock into battery, andthen you have a non-functional weapon.
  14. Looks good dude. Glad to know that redneck in you tends to pop out time to time.
  15. And they were a bitch to put on there, too. Does they make these for Taurus guns?
  16. I'm not bothered by it in the slightest. I look at it the same way I look at soldiers who wear KIA bracelets. It's their way of mourning and remembrance.
  17. I carry in a Spartan, about the same as the MTAC. When my gun was blued the wear wasn't too bad, and that's with Taurus's crapty blue job. Shouldn't bother yours in the slightest.
  18. I carry a SOG Seal Pup in a custom kydex sheath on my battle rattle. Along with my Gerber EOD tool, Benchmade Seat Belt cutter, Kershaw Combat folder, and my Gerber Splice.
  19. Looks like an AK spring.
  20. It's normal for budget AR's to have a bit of play between the upper and lower receivers. Nothing to worry about.
  21. The first two questions are, what needs to be worked on? And what needs to be done?
  22. How are you liking the UBR?
  23. That was pure WIN!!!!
  24. 87 Chevy Cavalier. Thing was a tank, managed to wreck it 4 times, and never once did it show a scratch. Dad sold it after I moved out, still running as far as I know.
  25. Magpul mags feed in the 556? But nice pickup.
