  1. Welp I used kerosene heaters as supplimentary heat sources for a lot of years without any issues, then one night I woke up & I couldn't breathe, it was as if my lungs were on fire, I couldn't see it was as if my eyes were on fire, I stumbled out of bed, grabbed my wife & kids, who were also blinded & choking and escaped to the freezing cold outside. Seems that the kerosene heater had sooted up & filled the house with what essentially felt like tear-gas it is a very toxic smoke, burns any soft tissue exposed to it like crazy, anyway the house was uninhabitable for a couple days until it had completely aired out. All of my furniture, clothing, etc had absorbed that kerosene soot smell & had to be washed multiple times, the walls had blackened & had to be scrubbed down & repainted, the carpet had to be replaced, etc. So as you can easily understand I simply refuse to use kerosene heaters anymore, in fact I tossed both of my kerosene heaters in the garbage & went out & bought that Mr. Heater portable buddy and have been happy with it for the last 5 years or so that I've been using it. I normally use the 1# bottles which I also use for a couple other things anyway so I have a lot of them, but to save a bit of coin I refill them from the larger tanks like what is used for outdoor gas grills, or you can run them straight off of the larger tanks, but having that large of propane tank inside the house makes me nervous. The model that I own is the smaller, more portable one which if I recall correctly delivers 6hrs of run-time @ 4000btu on the low setting & 3hrs of run-time @ 9000btu on the high setting, the larger models of course have more btu output but I wanted something I could take camping with me more easily as well as heat the house incase of a power-outage or furnace breaking down or something. I highly recommend the propane powered Mr. Heater heaters over kerosene heaters, not only are they safer, they are a lot less hassle w/regards to maintain & only slightly more expensive per btu to operate, especially iffin you re-fill the 1# bottles &/or use the 20# tanks.
  2. Bleh, why Rio? Personally I load my own shotshells but iffin I was to buy factory shotshells I'd buy Remington Gun Club or Winchester AA ...
  3. When a kerosene heater "soots up" and it is bad, real bad so much so that I'll never use another one ever again, I kept mine well maintained too, cleaned thoroughly and replaced the wick & bought new kerosene every fall. Anyway I switched to a propane-fueled Mr Heater portable buddy, it's a lot safer than my kerosene heaters were, so much so that I even have zero qualms using it in a large tent, very little maintainence, etc, price to run it is slightly higher but the ease of use & safety aspects are definately worth it IMHO.
  4. Interpretation & purposeful misinterpretation are two different things ...
  5. "Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis.
  6. I bought my 452 American about 10 years ago at a local fun store up in Indiana, but I haven't seen any on any LGS shelves since moving down here to TN. I did just see one listed for sale in one of the half-dozen west-TN facebook firearm buy/sell forums I belong to, I can scroll through them again & see if it's still for sale, how much they are asking & contact info for you iffin you're looking for one.
  7. My wife & I have been madly, passionately in love with each other since 1982, I can't think of anyone else who I'd rather spend my time let alone my life with.
  8. My wife has also adopted my 19-4 as her own, I keep trying to get her to adopt one of my other handguns instead but it hasn't worked so far LOL.
  9. Very sweet piece man, the K-framed Model 19 is one of my all-time favorite revolvers, especially the 4" barreled ones, they are balanced perfectly & point very naturally/instinctively & the action is so slick & sweet they are just a joy to shoot IMHO anyway I prefer the factory wooden target grips on mine but your hand will appreciate those pachmayr grips if you plan on shooting a lot of magnums out of it.
  10. Yup, chrome followers & ribless back spine, easily my favorite AK magazines.
  11. .44 to the head, that dude is very very lucky that he's still aliive, shame about his eye though, I hope that they'll be able to save it. I'm guessing that they aren't going to go to Pacific Playland together when/if the zombie apocolypse happens.

    GTA V

I'm sort of burned out on the GTA series, I have them all except this new one, but I'm not excited about it's release, oh I'll probably pick up a copy but it won't be until it hits the discount shelf.
  13. Good video Tanker, I really wish folks would take his advice & stop advocating a race-war. God forbid one gets sparked & this administration uses it as an excuse to declare martial law & go door to door collecting firearms. Then again maybe that is the goal ...
  14. I paid 179.99 for my MAK90, spent another $100 total for U.S made FCG, U.S. made type 74 muzzle break & U.S. made 3 piece poly AK stock set. When I did mmy conversion I did have to do a bit of fitting work because of the thicker reciever & barrel of the Chinese vs the Russian/Euro varients that the stock set & muzzle break was originally ment to be a replacement for. But it was definately worth the $279.99 + labor that I have into it, I've shot the piss out of it over the last 20 someodd years & while it's showing her age she still keeps popping out spent casings like a beast! Oh yea I bought one of the Norinco/Polytech drums to go with it for $35.00 too, I've seen these original drums going for $350.00-$400.00 I guess because they are considered "Godfathered" in some states that have restrictions on magazine capacities. Same with those Norinco/Polytech 30rd magazines, they seem to command a premium when being sold, $50+ a pop or more, thank goodness I bought a bunch back then but I'd be very hard pressed to sell them simply because those ribless chinese mags are my favorite AK magazines, seriously I like them better than my Bulgarian Circle 10's. Shame I didn't buy a warehouse full of them, I'd be a very rich man iffin I would have!
  15. Only "law abiding" gun owners will be affected, since criminals don't buy their guns & ammunition at retail outlets, they buy them on the streets or they just steal them. As mentioned in the video, this is simply an attempt to curb the sales of firearms & ammunition just like they did by taxing the crap out of tobaccco products. Maybe this is just what this nation needs, a reminder of what happened when King George raised the taxes on the tea being imported into the colonies? Of course I couldn't condone tossing perfectly good ammunition into the Boston harbor though.
  16. Yup Lee's FCD rawk, personally I think they make a big difference w/regards to the quality of the reloads.
  17. Yes I also carry while fishing, I am guessing police response would take forever, especially in areas of the river where there is little or no cellphone coverage. I usually also carry a GMRS/FRS handset, but it's limited range could also be problematic in an emergency.
  18. The hat is hunter/blaze orange, the camera my wife used was a phone camera & didn't pick up the color correctly. Anyway since I hunt small game with my dogs I usually avoid taking them out after archery deer season starts (to risky for Bear), anyway bot-fly larva doesn't bother me at all, I just cut them out while butchering,
  19. File for divorce? Seriously what we have here in this nation is a simple case of irreconcilable differences, half this nation wants to live under a socialist nanny-state the other half wants to live in the land of the free, home of the brave. *shrug*
  20. I don't know for certain R_Bert, I'm thinking a combination of a healthy population + damage they are causing to both game birds & livestock.
  21. Nope was today, fox's are year-round in Lauderdale County.
  22. Well I started by heading down to a small grove of black walnut trees, unfortunately some folks on the other side of the Hatchie was blasting away at some targets & soda/beer cans so all of the squirrels at that spot were all in hiding. So I decided I'd go hit a stand of oaks that was far enough away that the target practice noise those fellows were making wouldn't be a problem, on the way to the stand of oaks we came across a beautiful big red fox, only problem was that I still had squirrel shot in my chamber. I hand-signaled my dog Bear to remain quiet & still while I slipped one of my "in case of emergency" slugs from its elastic retaining loop on my vest, trying to be as quiet as possible I fingered the slide release on my Mossberg & slowly, gently pulled back on the pump. That was just enough noise for the fox to alert on us, so I quickly yanked the pump the rest of the way, catching the #6 shotshell while slapping in the slug, by the time I got my beads aligned he/she had bolted into the underbrush. I gave the command for Bear to "get'em!" and the chase was on, now I'm half-crippled so I'm not the fastest on my feet but that fox was so damn beautiful that I gave it everything I had & then some. Now Bear isn't allowed to get more than 50' or so from me so even during the chase he kept looking back to make sure he wasn't getting to far ahead of me, I am so proud of him, I didn't have to remind him of that at all even during all of the excitement of the chase, he truely is an amazing dog. Anyway that damn fox lead us through some of the nastiest, thorniest, briariest, parts of the planet I had ever seen, I wasn't going to let him/her go though, I really wanted that beautiful bushy red & white fur, for 2 hours we tracked & chased him/her before I finally collapsed from both pain & exhuastion. Even though our prey eluded us, it was still one of the best days I've ever had ...
  23. I do believe we have all just been labeled "enemies of the state" ...
  24. Getting ready to head out.
