Tyranny is almost always "legal" because it is almost always the tyrannts who are the ones making the laws &/or ignoring them. It is amazing to me how few people, even ones who purport to be "for freedom" actually understand extremely simple concepts like tyranny, liberty & individual freedom (or lack thereof). But but but ... there was a local easement ordinance! Really? A local easement ordinance that trumps the 5th Amendment's right to due-process? One that also void's the guarantees of the 4th & allows for warrantless tresspass & seizures of private property? All in an effort to suppress the homeowner's 1st Amendment right to publically express his political opinion? Sorry but this ain't the Soviet Union, apparently it's getting there quickly though, eh comrads? My world view is narcisstic & dangerous? What I want to know is why did we even bother fighting the Cold War for?

Yes Robert tyranny, as in "agents of the state" repeatedly tresspassing on private property & repeatedly stealing something that wasn't theirs, stealing as in had no authority to take without permission because the lawful owner was denied due-process (or even notification). But of course you seem to have absolutely no problem with this because your concept(s) of tyranny & liberty are vastly different than mine (or our nation's founding fathers).

Same folks defending liberty & the same folks defending tyranny ... *sigh*

I like Aimpoints just fine, but I love Eotechs, especially the XPS's. *shrug* as mentioned try shooting through them both prior to plunking down the coin, I'm personally quicker on target & more accurate engaging moving targets w/Eotech's but you might not notice any difference.

Nope, I hate to say it but policy is NOT what will win this next Presidential election, the American people will vote in either a woman &/or a hispanic (a hispanic woman would be the perfect canidate) this time around, why you ask? Because it is "their turn to be POTUS" ... sad but that is probably what will happen, I can guarantee Hillary is very busy learning to speak Spanish.

The Good and the Bad about AR Open Carry

Most comfortable boots I've ever owned are Altama ExoSpeed II's, very light, very coushy, its is difficult to tell that you're wearing boots. http://www.altama.com/products/3658-tan-desert-8-exospeed-ii-boot They come in different colors, just snagged the first link I googled up, only downside is they start to wear out after a bout a year of daily wear, the form-fitted foam that makes them so light & coushy is also not the most durable of materials, however the level of comfort while they last is definately worth it.

Welp growing up my grand-dad taught me to brew (and distill) & he took it very seriously, I guess that kind of rubbed off on me. Anyway he was a big anti-plastic advocate, he said that they'll eventially scratch up & even itty-bitty teeny-tiny scratches in the plastic will be breeding grounds for bacteria no matter how good you steralize your equipment, fouling the taste of the brew (if not potentially making you ill). He always used big'ole glazed ceramic primaries so that is what I always used, I have no idea who or where they sell them though, I got mine from him. I'm not sure how scientifically accurate that actually is, but I've never met anyone else who knew more about making beer & corn whiskey that he did, so I've always took it as gosphel. The rest is obvious, cheap/garbage hydrometers will give you inaccurate gravity readings, bad gas locks will bleed off to much pressure, etc. I've never used an "ingrediant kit" but I'd imagine they'd be hard to screw up iffin everything is already pre-measured so that's a plus for beginners, the only problem I could see would be the dry yeast, but a newbie pallet might not notice any difference anyway ... It's a great hobby though, very enjoyable especially the drinking it part!

Kegs are definately easier, I used a half-dozen 1 gallon mini-kegs just because they were easier to toss in the refrigerator (I didn't have a keg cooler). Anyway I'd keg up half, then get out my racking cane & bottle up the other half of the batch because bottles were easier to toss in a cooler & take fishing, picnicing, etc, I had about 300 Grolsch flip-tops, they were very heavy duty glass & very stout flip-tops so no worries about any of them popping while they were finishing up, learned that lesson early on using regular bottles & caps (hahhhahhhahaaa what a freaking mess that was!).
-
Welp the kit's I have seen generally include a set of plastic buckets & really cheap/garbage hydrometers & crappy sealing plastic gas locks, I dunno what sort of ingrediants they toss into them but I'm sure they are using a dry yeast & even that they can't be all that "fresh" if they are packaged up like that. Sure you can brew alcoholic beverages with the kits but you're not going to come close to the taste of the brews you could produce using glazed ceramic primaries & glass carboy secondaries, a quality/accurate hydrometer, live/liquid cultures of yeast & solid sealing glass-gas locks. At least that's my .02

The kits are crap, piece it together & only use glass carboys.

Some of the neighbor kids were running around shooting each other with some cheap spring-powered, plastic pellet air-soft guns, I intervined just because I knew some of the other neighbors would have gotten pissy about it. I showed them my air-soft/pellet range in my backyard, showed them some basic saftey stuff, gave them some spare saftey goggles/glasses & told them they could use my airsoft/pellet range any-time they wanted, they didn't need to ask first so long as they followed the safety rules. So far so good, as far as I know everyone's eyeballs are still intact LOL!
-
I used to have a couple primaries & several secondaries, brewed mostly honey-meads with the occasional ale or stout run, I only made beer when I couldn't get honey for a good whole-sale price though. I sold all of it off over a decade ago because I got into racing nitro-powered RC's pretty seriously & needed the dough & space to work on the cars & trucks, both are great hobbies maybe eventually I'll get back into homebrewing in the future. Not sure how coconut will taste but what the heck man give it a try!

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
RichardR replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
Welp I'm certainly one of the "let everyone have their say" sort of guys, because I believe that most folks are capable of sorting out the wheat from the chaff so to speak without any help, but I'm just a guest here & I don't have to deal with the resulting complaints when/if someone (or a group of someones) gets offended or butt-hurt. -
No arguement there, a privately owned business should be free to serve or not serve to whomever they choose, I'm guessing if asked to leave George & Tom would have just taken their money elsewhere. They'd probably have informed their fellow patriots that they were not welcome to patronize that business though ...

I've got to disagree with ya Dolo, the issue really does boil down to "gun-rights" or more specifically the fear of the fear of fearful folks who may be scared into supporting future gun-control legislation. At least that is the vibe that I am getting from some folks this thread, which is why I thought it important enough to point out for discussion. George Washington & Thomas Jefferson wouldn't have been afraid of someone elses fear, which is why I bothered to mention them as an example & the original intent of the 2nd Amendment. Those two men helped to rally their fellow freedom loving colonists & bravely fought against the worlds most powerful military at the time, they literally risked everything & was ultimately victorious, leaving behind a legacy of freedom & liberty which we've collectively slowly but surely squandered generation after generation. And now here we are, our Constitutional protections have literally become the punch-line of a very bad a joke, what little remain are under constant ideological assault, legislative revision & purposeful judicial misinterpretation, it is only a matter of time before the freedom inclined American people (just as George Washington & Thomas Jefferson did) have to make a choice, a very hard, frightningly scary choice to surrender the Constitution or to defend it, really defend it. Because of this some of the more freedom inclined, liberty-loving Americans have chosen to become 2nd Amendment activists bearing their arms as originally intended by our founding fathers in order to make a political/social statement, or as some of us have taken to name-calling them "guntards". IMHO the act of lawfully openly carrying long-guns in public was a very brave thing to do especially in this day & age where "gun-owning patriotic Americans" are considered potential terrorists by our own government. Some of you will argue that it wasn't brave, but that it was stupid, I am certain many of George Washington & Thomas Jefferson's fellow colonists thought that standing up against the crown was also stupid. “We believe that preparation eradicates cowardice, which we define as the failure to act in the midst of fear.†― Veronica Roth. "Guntards" as some of us have taken to name-calling them have acted in the midst of the widespread fear in this country of armed individuals, they've done so inorder to show their fellow Americans that not every armed civilian they see is dangerous. I believe it is cowardice which prevents many of us from supporting their activism, cowardice of the potential reprecussions which may spark something no-one of sound mind would desire, yet is probably inevitable anyway. The only way to avoid it would be for all those who swore an oath to start upholding it, that is the only salvation I believe is left to us. Anyway sorry for being so long-winded, it's a slow morning & I have to entertain myself somehow :)

My point was George Washington & Thomas Jefferson wouldn't have cared if the public exercise of their freedoms "scared" Sally the Shoemaker or Tammy the Tea-Wench. There seems to be a whole lot of "fear of their fear" in this thread ...

TMF, you've got me confused for an OC'er, which I'm not. I do however support the 2nd Amendment as it was originally intended, not the current corrupt version that it has become. As far as property rights, I fully support those as well, I believe Starbucks has every right to deny service to anyone they want, for what ever reason they want. If Starbucks refuses service to 2nd Amendment supporters/activists that's fine by me, the 2nd Amendment supporters/activists (or "guntards" as you've labeled them) can just go spend their coffee money elsewhere or disarm before entering a Starbucks establishment. I see no problem here other than a lot of "closeted" 2nd Amendment supporters viciously attacking a group of "openly" 2nd Amendment supporters/activists. I personally have no desire to carry my firearms publically, I do however support the rights of those who choose to lawfully do so, fearful soccor-moms & part-time baristas be damned ...
-
I believe George Washington & Thomas Jefferson wouldn't give a F about what some fearful soccor mom or part-time coffee barista would think about them publically bearing arms while drinking their coffee. They certainly didn't give a flying F what the King of England, his soldiers or his Loyalists thought about them exercizing their naturaly inherent God given rights, in fact they were willing to fight & die in order free themselves from those who attempted to curtail their liberties.

I've got mixed feelings about this. On one hand I believe that requiring a citizen to preform labor/tasks for "the state" or watch their children starve seems almost like state sanctioned slavery, especially if it was the policies of "the state" that was purposely designed to crash the private sector of the economy forcing tens of millions out of work to begin with. On the other hand we've a real problem with welfare-leaches, who do nothing but take & breed more takers, generations of takers who contribute nothing to society except criminal statistics & votes for the democrat party. As far as drug testing, again mixed feelings, on one hand if they have money for drugs they have money for food, on the other hand I believe that the government has absolutely no authority at all to regulate what a citizen voluntarily chooses to put into their own bodies. The slippery-slope that started with a prohibition on alcohol has now grown beyond intoxicants to include soda sizes, sodium, trans-fats, portion sizes, etc. I'd actually prefer it if "the state" stopped interfering in the economy, then there would be no need for public assistance for able bodied citizens, as well as what a citizen chooses to eat, drink, smoke, snort, shoot, etc, it's really none of their business if someone chooses to be a fatty, a cancer-risk, or an addict, the whole prohibition/war on drugs thing has damaged our Constitutional freedoms & liberties more than anything else. Just my .02

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
RichardR replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
Welp JayC, like yourself I'm not "anti-government" or "anti-leo" but I am "pro-liberty" & "pro-freedom" there used to be a time when these concepts were not mutually exclusive, but sadly it appears that it has become that way. Fear is a powerful motivator, I can guarantee that Stalin would be smiling if he could see what America has become. -
Another aspect to seriously consider is ... would a jury "be comfortable" with your choice of HD weapon though? Granted most of us wouldn't give a rats-ass about what sort of firearm was used so long as it was a "good shoot" but there are millions of our *cough* fellow Americans *cough* who's absolutely terrified of guns & the use of an "assault weapon" might cause them to mistakenly believe that the homeeowners use of deadly force with an "evil weapon of war" was excessive or unjustified. Because you know a leftist DA/prosecuter looking for a conviction will hammer a weapon like that endlessly, attempting to provoke an emotional response instead of a logical one from the low-information jurors. It is a shame, but it is the reality we live in.

Meh, no interest on my end either, when I'm squeezing the trigger I'm doing so with every intent of hitting my target, not just tossing random rounds in the target's general direction.

The most comfortable boots I've ever worn are Altima Exospeed II's they are so light weight & coushiny that you hardly even know you are wearing duty/work boots, the trade off for the comfort is that they wear out quick, I only got about a year of service out of my pair, but my feet loved every minute of it. Unfortunately I had to switch over to zip-ups, so I'm wearing a pair of Rocky Tacticals which are actually pretty good, not quite as comfy as the Altima Exospeed II's but better than average work/duty boot comfort, the build quality & durability/longevity is also really decent on these especially for the money.
