  1. Well even if you make everyone who shoots out there sign a hold-harmless / liability waver, you are still going to want to carry plenty of insurance just in case (God forbid) someone gets injured or even possibly killed on your property.
  2. I train with both my M9 & G17 regularly and honestly I really like them both about equally and I wouldn't hesitate to grab either one in an emergency situation as both are accurate & reliable sidearms, market value is about the same, ergonimics is where the main difference between the two pistols is, the Beretta feels much better in my hand, where as the Glock feels more like holding onto a brick, I don't care that much for slide-mounted safety of the Beretta and I am not a big fan of DA/SA triggers, however all of this sort of equals out things between the two platforms (for me at least) and while I wouldn't consider either of them to be "perfect" they both are very good sidearms. But it would be difficult to say which one you'd like better since ergonomics differ from person to person.
  3. I bought a 3.4" Walther P22 back when they first came out & it was an immediate hit with friends & family, every time we'd go to the range & it would come out of the range bag everyone would start jockying for who would get to shoot it first, since the P22 was still "new" with regards to being on the market & the reaction of everyone who shot it seemed to absolutely love it, so I did a series of articles & updates on it over on rimfirecentral.com's forums. Anyway I stopped after posting the 10,000 round update, since the gun had already begun to catch on and wasn't exactly an unknown at that point, but my little P22 has been absolutely flawless with regards to reliability even though I usually feed it the cheapest bulk ammunition I can find. Granted the slide mounted safety eventually started walking on it from being worn out (from all of the flipping on & off), I cut some new indents in the zinc alloy slide and that fixed the problem (for awhile) but eventually those wore out too so I ended up completely removing the slide mounted safety all-together. The gun has easily over 100,000 rounds through it now & it's still thumping along, eating anything & everything I feed into it without any hiccups & unbelievably it is still the gun that everyone wants to shoot first when it comes out of the range bag. So while it's not my personal favorite .22LR pistol (I like my all steel Ruger MKII's) the two hundred some odd dollars I paid for the P22 was well worth it, I honestly never expected it to be this reliable or last this long or have survived this many rounds put through it.
  4. I like Remington's a bit better than I like Savages, don't get me wrong my Savage 10FP was just as accurate as my Remingtons, but I didn't care for the feel of the accu-trigger or the sloppy feeling bolt, none of that effected the rifles preformance mind you, but the better feeling ergonomics on the Remington 700 is worth the extra money, at least IMHO.
  5. Well said Mike, those are my thoughts on this topic as well. Compact 1911's are finicky, no doubt about that, not only with what sorts of ammunition that they like but also with regards to a shooters technique, (can't be lazy or sloppy w/regards to how you shoot them).
  6. I usually spray a light coat of Rem Oil ond wipe off each of my firearms before I put them away, and also twice a year (spring & fall) I will take everything out of the safe and do the same thing, that process has kept all of my firearms rust free for decades
  7. 20" standard service rifle A2's are still my favorite configuration.
  8. I have a stainless Ruger MKii w/a 10" bull barrel that is a phenominal shooter, the thing is a bit heavy but it never disappoints, even with cheap bulk ammo it will still chew out the center x-ring after x-ring.
  9. If the folks in question cannot PROVE that they are eligible to vote the State of Florida has the DUTY to prevent them from voting in the State of Florida's elections. Just like if I cannot PROVE that I am over 21, the local liquor store has the DUTY to prevent me from buying alcohol from their store. This United States Department of Justice is apparently engaging in conspiracy to commit (or at least is an accessory to) illegal election engineering.
  10. Unless that money was actually transfered into Zimmerman's bank account or physically placed in his hand I see no way for there to have been any fraud on Zimmerman's part. Someone could tell me that they raised X amount of money to help pay my legal fee's but until that money is under my direct control I would be increadibly stupid to claim any ownership of it. I bet that Judge gets all excited & rushes down to the IRS to file an admend tax return as soon as he recieves one of those "Pardon me sir, I am a Prince from Nigeria and need your help with transfering my ten million dollar inheritance into your bank account" emails.
  11. Correct me if I am wrong, but folks didn't start donating to the Zimmerman defense fund until after Zimmerman was actually charged and arrest right? if so then at his bond hearing Zimmerman probably had no clue as to how many donations would come pouring in, I fail to see how there is "fraud" in stating that they were broke at the time?
  12. Agreed, one of the best features of the Galco holsters are the rubber grommet's that you can tighten or loosen to adjust the amount of retention that you want, this is very handy especially after the holster leather gets some age (wear & tear) put on it and the leather starts to stretch out a little.
  13. You have colored me completely green with envy! those are some very fine looking rigs you have there.
  14. Ammunition will still be availible no matter what laws any governmental entity impliments, it'll just be availible on the blackmarket like heroin or cocaine, essentially it boils down to this; if there is a willing buyer, there will be a willing seller, regardless of how "illegal" something is made.
  15. Chavez is just following leftist doctrine, no surprise on this end.
  16. Last time I worked on an old .32 short like that one (was a US Revolver Co version) I had to make some of the parts by hand simply because there was no-one making replacement parts for them anymore, I can't recall the exact number of hours I put into that project but the end result turned out to be a pretty fun little gun. anyway I've since found a gun parts supplier that stocks some pretty obscure and hard to find parts, your best bet is to contact them to see if they have any of the parts you'd need (if you are thinking about fixing it yourself), the name of the place is Numrich & their website's address is http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ Good luck to you & keep us posted on how it turns out.
  17. I primarily carry OWB, usually in either a pancake or paddle style holster, pancake conceals my gun(s) better since they hold it really close to the body, but paddle holsters are more generally much more comfortable, plus paddles are easier to take off & put on since you do not have to thread your belt through them, however since paddle holsters do not hold the gun up against your body as closely as pancake holsters do & depending on how loose fitting your shirt(s) are, they can cause printing. Anyway that said I own holsters from Galco, Don Hume, DeSantis, Ross Leather, Bianchi, Fobus, El Paso, Blackhawk, Uncle Mikes (in kydex, nylon & a kodra ankle holster), a shoulder rig from Jackass Leather Company, and a few more that I can't recall, as the list above might indicate I do usually prefer the look & feel of fine leather, however lately I have been wearing mostly kydex holsters, not sure why to be honest with you, although it might have something to do with the large scrape that I put down the side of my favorite Ross Leather pancake holster. Give it time & you are almost certainly going to end up with a very large drawer over-filled with various holsters, holsters to guys are sort of like collecting shoes or purses to wimminz, owning just one just ain't going to cut it.
  18. Sorry Reaper but I've never even heard of them, let alone used any of their parts, if no-one here has any info on them you might be able to find someone who's used their parts over at ARFCOM.
  19. I was a big fan of the television series "the A team" back in the 80's so I had to have a mini-14, well it was a lot of fun to shoot I(and pretend that I was Murdock) but the magazines were expensive & once you started shooting & the barrel started heating up POA/POI (point of aim/point of impact) started to wander. I ended up selling it to my uncle who absolutely loved shooting it, even as flawed as it was he still just had to have it. Anyway I personally prefer AR's for serious stuff but mini's are still kind of cool for playing around with at the range.
  20. Welcome to the forum Jim, I noticed that you were on my side of the state in Memphis, I am about an hour or so north of you in Ripley, but I am looking at maybe joining a private range down around Memphis so maybe we'll get the chance to shoot together sometime.
  21. Well I love the way my model 19 handles and shoots, but I hate trying to conceal the darn thing, I really wish OC was more accepted by the general public because I would happily OC that 19 of mine in a heart-beat
  22. I guess I sort of have a love-hate relationship with my S&W 19-4, I absolutely love how the gun shoots & feels in my hand but it being a 4" K-frame it makes it difficult to conceal carry, which forces me either to dress like a slob or stash it in my truck's center console instead of wearing it. Granted I do own & carry j-frame sized revolvers but I really love my 19, it's just a shame open carrying is such a hassle (MWG calls, etc) because I'd really like to have my 19 hanging on my belt 24/7
  23. I took a couple of wimminfolk to the LGS this afternoon, both have small hands and we browsed through the display a bit trying to find something that fit them really well prior to me taking them to take their permit class, anyway the Sig P238 & the Ruger LCP seemed to be the two top contenders with regards to how they fit their hands, they did have a Colt Mustang in the case but the $900 price tag on it was just so silly-high that I didn't even bother to ask if they could try it.
  24. Yup about the largest small game I hunt with .22LR are ground hogs (ie; woodchucks, I am not sure what you call them down here) but anyway they are pretty slow moving & are easy to get a head shot on. I have hunted plenty of rabbits & squirrels with a .22LR over the years but I always have much better success using a shotgun, simply because you can easily take them while they are on the run & not have to wait for them to sit still long enough to get a good shot on them. Same goes with ducks, geese, pheasant, quail, etc, much easier to bag them if your tossing a nice big spread of pellets at them, especially if they are flying up above ya.
  25. I haven't played top shot, but I am sort of liking this Last Stand game, one of the best things about it is that you don't need to recruit (ie spam) your friends and family (or a bunch of strangers) with requests to join you in order to advance in the game. Other survivors (computer played) will automatically join your compound after you meet certain requirements such as food, water, security, comfort, etc So far it's pretty fun, I even raided another players compound earlier today & unfortunitely I got my butt handed to me.
